I personnally have been taking 6000 IU of Vitamin D since I begun listening to you Dr. John. The results are nothing short of remarkable. First of all my immunity is working much better, my low level inflammation has basically vanished, and my muscles feel much more flexible. But the biggest difference is with my mental health as I find it much easier to relax and letting go of my anxiety. Of course I know that this is anecdotal evidence, but for me it has made a real difference.

All from the 70’s AD-drops were given for free to parents of children up to the age of 5 in Sweden. They have changed it now to only being Vitamin D and only for children up to the age of 2.
First of all, lots of food items are today enriched with Vitamin A. Second the type of Vitamin A often used in supplements which is animalic (retinol) can cause osteoperosis, weakness of the bones which is totally contraproductive.
It’s much better to get your Vitamin A from a healthy diet containing caroten (yes, the stuff from carrots). That’s the plant based Vitamin A source which does not have these adverse effects.

Traditional diets in such northern latitudes included large intakes of liver, fatty fish, and blubber and seal meat - all high in vitamin D, Cod liver oil, eggs, and liver are good sources and cheap too. With a good amount of green leafy vegetables like cabbage, kale, and brussel sprouts, etc. You'll get vitamin K which regulates vitamin D too. Just an FYI....Caltrate is made with calcium carbonate that is very hard to absorb in your body. Citracal is what you want to be taking. It's easily absorbable with or without food and contains all the necessary minerals except K2.
But, "Jarrow's Bone-up" is the best of all the calcium supplements you can buy on the market. It's in powder form inside a capsule. Contains all the minerals (D3, K2, Boron, Copper, magnesium, etc) necessary to transfer calcium to your bones and the areas it needs to be without depositing it in soft tissues.

Thank you so much in advocating for the use of vitamin D3 and the suggestion about the incidents in the vulnerable groups who are likely to catch COVID19. My hematologist friend in the Far East has explained to me a decade ago the reason why so many are vitamin D deficient - even for those living between the Tropics. In the US holistic doctors have been advocating for 5000 iu per day for a LONG time according to your age and weight. It is of course safer to have our 25(OH)D3 level checked regularly. I have mine done in the summer and winter to adjust for sun exposure etc. Our teacher Dr Norm Shealy (founder of the American Holistic Medical Association) at our institute told us about it since the beginning of this century. He even advocated the doses to cover for H1N1 exposure and we have had patients on ECMO because of the disease and we were well covered and everyone was fine. In the UK we are not so well informed ... We are all covered where we work with Vitamin D3 (I take it with vitamin K2 as advised by Dr Shealy for synergy). It's about how much we have been informed and be open-minded. Vitamin D3 is a great immuno-modulator.

Because in general, initial loads affect the severity, everybody knows that. However, there are many other infections, especially the slow growth, likes leprosy, malaria, or the aggressive and deadly ones, likes Ebola, cholera, tetanus, rabies, prions-infection, that the severity depends on the reaction of the immune system and the strains of the pathogen, not the initial loads (providing that they got enough number to successfully infect the hosts).
Second, nobody said that vitamin D plays no role in the severity of any infection, if the patients are in deficiency, let alone COVID-19. The dispute is, at what level the medical community should agree on as adequate to support a fully functional immune system.

The evidence for vitamin D supplementation is plagued by the use of small, poor-quality trials.
high-quality, high-level evidence for supplementation is frequently lacking. Vitamin D may prove to be a good surrogate for general well-being.

Hi as a suggestion I would ask you to consider having a blood test. My own doctor put me a high dose for a few months and then redid my blood which were by then in the moderately high levels. I am now on a 3000iu dose a day which maintains good levels. 10000iu daily seems a high dose daily and as you are female it could cause problems with your bones. 10,000 may be a good dose for you however checking that it is may prevent osteoporosis later.

As I have MS and I just saw another orthopedic yesterday for back issues and test results and paperwork that i received it lists all my meds and supplements I take and it reccomends that I continue to take the 10,000 IU dosage. Told me to discontinue taking beta carotene and b-50 I had been taking. So all my doctors are aware of what I'm taking, the dosage and how often. I see them quite often. Every doctors visit asks me if there are any changes in what I take. I appreciate your concern and advice though. I am getting older now and am trying to take precautions. I'll be okay.

However, if we need to reduce the total amount of road traffic accidents, we need to keep distance from other while driving and less traffic flow. For hand hygiene and correct cough manners, it is like keep other good habits for driving such as look left and right before changing lane, also signalling turning light to notice cars behind.

The Public Health England recommendation explicitly says that the 10 micro-gram dose is sufficient for bone and muscle health. It does not say that this dose is sufficient for immune system health. I believe that this is probably because the impact of vitamin D on the immune system was recently discovered whereas the association with rickets is long standing and well accepted.

But long before that, they were often deliberately inoculated with matter from the spots of smallpox sufferers. Variolation= deliberately inoculating with variola (smallpox); vaccination= deliberate inoculation with vaccinia (cow pox). I think variolation was done up to a hundred years before vaccination, but cowpox turned out to be safer as cowpox was normally mild and not disfiguring. I think Edward Jenner, who introduced vaccination, must have had an "eye for the girls", as it was his observation that milkmaids always had unblemished skin, where so many others had pockmarked complexions, that drove him to his discovery of the cross-immunity. I am not sure he necessarily understood how it worked, but it did.

If we are going to discuss IU's of D intake well then I am taking 50 thousand of ius a day. Sometimes every other day. Same case with my mother and father. I have also added k2 supplement of 1250 mcg per pill a day. I would like to add also a 1 liter of raw organic milk a day which I haven't done yet to really start the bone-teeth remineralisation process. While 50k of vitamin D sounds much (and it is) my mother has been chronically deficient on this vitamin for decades with years ago having a blood vitamin D level of 8 ng. Under 30 it is already considered deficient. Long term high dosage of D is not advised without supplementation of k2 because of hypercalcemia (too much calcium in the blood) k2 takes care of them by mobilizing the k2 into bones and teeth rather then the soft tissues and organs.

People who are overweight or have a belly have insulin resistance (diabetic or prediabetic) means that absorption is difficult with vitamin D or any vitamins for that matter. Melanin in the skin also plays a role. The more inherently darker your skin is the more you need to be outside. There's an NIH study on this skin color issue. Dr Berg mentions insulin resistance and vitamin absorption.
