Hi John! I was wondering if you wouldn't mind talking about this in one of your videos. It's something thats been bothering me for quite some time. Sexism is something I've had to deal with all my life. I've been told plenty of times that I can't or shouldn't do certain things because of my gender. I have always felt this restriction, even as a little kid I remember trying to be as "un feminine like" as possible in an attempt to break away from these limitations . But knowing that God loved me just as much as he did any other man, and that he believed I could achieve anything a man could, gave me a sense of worth. So when I came across 1Timothy 2 I was shocked! In verses 11-15 Paul says that women should not teach over men and that the fact that Adam was made first gave him a sense of superiority, and even that a women's salvation is achieved through childbearing. I was heartbroken that God, the one who sees past the exterior and into the hearts of people, would have such a thing...
...in his holy book! I was told that this didn't apply to me since those teachings were for that time period. But isn't the entire Bible supposed to be held as truth? It's not as if I only have to obey some parts of the bible and not others. I was so mad at God for having something like that written in THE BOOK OF TRUTH.
I was hoping maybe you could give me some insight on these verses and help me understand why they're written there. But honestly the last thing I want to hear is that God actually believes that. I've been praying and talking to some people about it, but I would really like your opinion.
+Hannah Knapp I'm in no way qualified to answer your questions, but I will point out a couple things, by looking at the rest of the Bible, we can see that whatever verse 15 means, it does not mean that someone can be saved by having a kid, or that salvation can be affected by having, or not having a kid, as salvation is through faith. Ephesians 2:8-9 Also, just because someone may be under the authority of someone else, does not make them inferior or less valuable, Ephesians 2:8-9 And finally, our worth should not come from being like someone else, or doing what they do, but from belonging to God, knowing that we are a part of His creation and He created us for a purpose, and doing His will. 1 John 5:1-21
advice anyone : i feel as if theres no point of going to school or going anywhere because whats the point its all going to pass away i dont wanna think about mu future because isnt it sin to be a friend of this world ?
If I ever went to school, the Lord wouldn't have used me to write and reach the lost through my giftings to its full extent. Education is important in the age that we live in. Without getting a good education it's nearly impossible to find a good job. The Lord wants us to work. I believe the Lord also wants us to have knowledge. Of course, knowledge that comes from the Lord is far greater, but knowing about the world will open doors to you to further preach the Gospel. I hope that helps! :)
