  • I may ruffle some feathers today and if you know a facelift is not for you, scroll on. I've created this conversation for women who know or think they want a facelift. Towards the end I really get into the nitty gritty on how the Aesthetic world is PREYING on our vulnerabilities and often making our skin and faces WORSE!!! I talk about ALL the in-office procedures and how investing in procedures is a waste of money that could ultimately go towards a facelift, a known success and the ONLY way to lift sag.

I had the Halo done and loved the results at the age of 60, but I also have taken very good care of my skin from a young age. I stayed out of the sun, I wear sun screen everyday and have a good skin care routine. I must say that Halo is way to expensive though and I am so happy I found you to listen to this video, and yes the only way you can have your face lifted is by surgery. Thank you for this video ❤

Thank you so much for sharing! I have been an esthetician for 23 years, and I went into it because skin care was actually supportive and nurturing the skin, and it made people FEEL their own beauty, instead of trying to adhere to a carbon copy beauty standard. I have watched my industry become a shit show of everyone becoming a "skin expert", but mostly it is expertise in exploiting people. Our skin is an intelligent organ, and it's first job is not "aesthetic", it is to protect us. It is the first line of defense in our immunity, and we are treating it like it's something that needs to be demolished on a regular basis. We don't do this to any other organs of our body. Our skin is also the nervous system turned inside out, so when we do these harsh and painful things, we freak out our nervous system, and that is a whole other topic. I also do not trust medspas. Just because a medical practitioner took an oath to "do no harm", does not mean they have integrity as a person. Recently, one of my clients, who has amazing skin, is aging healthily, let me know she had a consult at a medspa and they talked her into BBL and CO2. The doctor sold this to someone who is dealing with body dysmorphia and self-esteem issues, not skin issues. Ladies, we have so much internal work to do than giving our power away to an industry that is keeping everyone looped in fear, making you feel good temporarily, until the results wear off and you're back in fear again. They hook everyone....that is not beauty. We deserve so much better than that. I'm all for us expressing our beauty, and at the same time, the beauty industry has become toxic. Run away from lasers, be super cautious with getting on the peel wagon, it can be overdone and damage the skin over time. Basic micro needling at just .5mm done by a practitioner who is sanitary and gives impeccable after care, 4-6 treatments a month apart will give amazing results without damaging the skin barrier. Massage, lymphatic drainage, Gua Sha work when done consistently for skin health, but so many things can only be corrected with surgery. Mark my words, injectables will follow the path of the tobacco industry. People need to know they can that they are not entirely safe. There is a fast growing Facebook group about botox (neurotoxin). We need to inform ourselves and make the decisions that feel right in our gut. Thank you again for speaking out on this!

The education you give us is worth more than any skincare provider can do! It’s so true every thing you said. Anyone with an MD can do anything! That’s scary in and of itself! I learned that MANY years ago. I went to a free consult at a medi spa and ran not walked out of there!! 😂😂 since rosacea I learned how to manage my skin through skincare. At 73 my skin looks very good and only because I used Trentinoin since it came on the market. If there is one thing I have learned it is know your skin and stay with what works for YOU!! Thank you for everything you do and the education you share with us!! Is there anything I would change if I could afford it? I don’t think so. I have had a very stressful hard life but I survived it! Did it show on my face? Absolutely! But at 73, this is my time. I appreciate the simple things in life. Love, kindness, being with those whom I love and know loves me. You are one amazing woman my friend!! I am so blessed to have you in my life!! Keep up the great work for our Look Good Close Up Club!! I love you💕😘🙋‍♀️

Hi you look fabulous! I am the person who sent you photos of my facelift and co2 laser. I totally agree with you about surgery. I was spending a lot of money on fillers and Botox. Surgery is the only thing that truly works. I only wish I did when I was in my 50’s. Not in my early 60’s. My surgeon was conservative as well. The co2 laser was a harder recovery than the facelift, which included my neck. It will be 1 year in May. I still have a little redness around my eyes. I am a crazy women with the sunscreen and my skincare. I am extremely happy with the results. I too have lost about 10 lbs. It shows a tiny bit in my neck. I can’t lose any more. Thank you for all your videos, advice and honesty. And to these young women getting all these fillers/ Botox. My advice is just protect your skin. Good skincare, healthy lifestyle, and sun protection. That’s your saving grace. Aging is inevitable. Embrace it. I still look my age just better.

After being in the industry for so long, you’re 100% right. Surgery is the only thing that lifts sagging skin. If you have wrinkles in the middle where your breasts seperate & those lines go up to your chest. A peel might help but again. Every time they touch your skin or add filler. Another part of the face has to compensate so all of a sudden you fix one problem but then have another. You need surgery on both sides so things balance. Filler eventually weighs down your face & you start looking like your face is a bit rectangular & you lose those delicate features.

  • @kathinorr
    @kathinorr 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +40

Loved your video and I agree 100% with you about surgery. When I turned 60 I began getting fillers. My daughters were getting married and I wanted to look my best. After just two and a half years, I'd gone through $7,000. Apparently, I have a high metabolism and my body was burning through the fillers in 6 months. I finally said to the plastic surgeon that I felt that at a certain point fillers were a waste of money and that surgery was the best option. He agreed wholeheartedly which was very honest of him because he's not a cosmetic surgeon. He rebuilds faces from car wrecks, etc. I stopped the fillers and for the past 7 years I've wanted a lower facelift. I'm 70 now and really want to get the surgery, but don't have the $15k the surgeons in Nashville charge. Thank you for your honesty!

    • @SculptExpress-gv8jp
      @SculptExpress-gv8jp 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Every plastic surgeon seems to say the same. And now, it turns out that fillers are dangerous for clogging up lymphs and even causing cancer (acc to the board of plastic surgeons in the US). I think you should be careful about the doctor who says that you have a fast metabolic system that dissolves your fillers fast. Take X-rays. Lots of research says that fillers move and remain in our body for a very long time or forever.

The reason is though I had personally went to the building booked with the Dermatologist, the day I went into the treatment room he showed this woman how to do it. He left the room and the woman said she was new, this was first time using the Ulthera machine. The reason I had gone to that Dermatologist because he appears in all the media, famous and Ulthera Web page indicated he was the Ulthera machine certified. I contacted and explained the situation after the treatment. Ulthera hasn't even returned. My friend said we'll Ulthera is the no 1 scammer, some doctors and Ulthera work together in this scam: win win for them. Losers are the patients.

My sister had her hooded eye lids lifted, very satisfied. This is just a heads up. I don’t agree with what my sister did, but here goes. The doctor will give you an eye test, you are to push a button when you can see these little like stars. My sister acted like she couldn’t see the stars until they got closer to where she should see them. That way her insurance paid for it. Her friend took the test honestly, insurance wouldn’t pay. Make sure you have a great doctor. Look into the doctor on line comments, etc. Good luck.

Michelle, thank you so much for doing this honest review of surgery, devices and lasers. I think you look fabulous and should be thrilled with your results. A few days ago, I ordered the Nira pro with a 20% discount. Your comments about the device alarmed me. When I receive the product next week, I will contact the company to return it and get a refund. Typically I thoroughly research something before purchasing but in this case I did not. This morning, before seeing your video, I researched Nira Pro and saw all the comments and reviews you mentioned. A few weeks ago I watched Dr. Amir Karam's video about Bad Plastic Surgery Trends and he mentioned energy devices like RF, Ultherapy and Thermage. He said there are too many nightmare stories and just don't do it. Surgery is the only answer if you want to address these issues. Exactly as you stated. Nira Pro is an energy device. Your video confirmed every thing I read and heard and for that reason I choose to return the device, because the risk is too great. THANK YOU!@@maturemakeupmasterclass

So informative 👍 I have a friend who is a dermatology nurse and gets laser treatments all the time. I think my untouched skin is in better shape than her laser skin. I’m very concerned those lasers destroy fat volume and make skin saggy. These spas are PREDATORY in nature and I’m worried all these younger women are targets of aggressive marketing ploys. Targeting women with procedures like these ensures you keep them coming back for more treatments and tons of money…which is very sad.

And my weight remained the same! My skin did look beautiful for a short time after, but it quickly went downhill. Between that and Botox and collagen, I spent probably $10k in 18 months. And look much older, but that's because of the Morpheus8. Makes me incredibly sad what I've done to myself. The best thing for my hyperpigmentation has been topical daily use products. It took me years to figure this out! The last laser I did was around my eyes and the name of the laser was something with fx on the end. It was supposed to help my crow's feet. I paid 3k for something that did nothing.

Nor was I educated enough to tell the patients. I had a mini facelift 10 years ago and loved the results and will be getting a deep plane my early 60s. Thank you for revealing your doctors name. He's much more affordable than the ones here in Los Angeles. And lastly, I have been feeling lately that the Omnilux that I received for Christmas has been making my jowls more lax. They are now also "discovering" (disclosing) all the dangers of fillers!! The beauty industry indeed preys on the insecurities of women (and men). ... This goes for medical procedures, as well as cosmetic products! I know it won't be long before they disclose the possible long term effects of botulinum. Just wait until you really go down the rabbit hole about the 'education' these doctors receive. ... We are talking about a trillion dollar industry. They don't care about the consumer - only about the bottom line.
I have decided to try some of the peels - but even there we have to be very careful. Some of them affect hormones, organs, etc. We have to be DILIGENT about everything we put in and on our skin - our largest organ.

Thank you for using your platform to speak out. About 3 years i did thread lift for face, neck and and laser total of 3 visits, roughly 5k which was a lot for me, and i was suppose to go back for more rip off 😅 I decided to wait until until I get facelift.

Oh, Michelle….This video is just what I needed to hear. I went to the Medi- Spa I use for Botox in Greenville, S.C this past Wednesday for a consult. This is what they suggested.
    1. The Lift and Restore (enhance eyes while restoring lost volume near the cheeks , temples and mid to lower face $4,600.
    2. Ultherapy (skin tightening laser) $2,400.
    3. Pixel8-RF Microneedling 3pkg $1,800.
    If needed..
    4. FRAXEL DUAL Advanced $1,150.
Bless you for putting this info out on this day!
You spoke directly to my heart and mind❤️

by the way, I ordered the Innbeauty eye cream and face cream you spoke about and love it!

Hi! I am 42 and just watched this episode out of curiosity because it popped up on my feed. I thought you were my peer until you said you were 56. I was shocked!! You look fantastic, so don’t even give a second thought to the tiny details you don’t like about your appearance because they aren’t noticeable to the outside eye!
This was an interesting, informative video, and I appreciate honesty like this because I want to age well without doing anything dangerous. I’ll never do lasers now, thanks to you!!

Really appreciate your honesty and transparency. I will be 67 this month and I had a lower facelift in 2018. I was so pleased with it except for, as yourself, a small part of the inside of my neck had a small wrinkled area that was not fixed. However my surgery was with just local anesthesia yes and it cost only about $6,000

I appreciate you sharing your experience and results. It’s clear that you’ve put a lot of thought into your enhancements. In my experience as a professional model photographer for over 20 years, I've observed that smaller, gradual procedures often result in a more subtle transformation. Your look is certainly enhanced and can appear quite glamorous depending on the occasion and styling choices.
Personally, I've undergone significant surgery myself, including upper and lower reconstructive bone surgery for facial harmony. The changes were noticeable to me but subtle to others, who often just remarked that I looked well 😂
Ultimately, each person's journey with cosmetic enhancements is deeply personal, and it's important to pursue what feels right for you. Thank you for sharing your story.

Hi, I understand what you are saying about your neck. I had made the assumption that it would be a "one and done" when I had mine. I haven't been completely satisfied with my neck. He worked on it twice and the pain was ungodly for me! I'm a redhead - we have lower pain thresholds. Here's the weird thing - it's been almost 2 years since I had mine, and I'm STILL seeing subtle changes happening. Although I'm not 100% pleased, I'm NOT going to do any more. I can see why people get addicted to it. Something else I learned from the anesthesiologist was that after 60, you will lose 30% of your memories from anesthesia that will never come back!!! I look great! I don't regret having had mine at all, but I will never go through that again. I lost so much hair that hasn't come back from the trauma and anesthesia. I'm 60, and I am thankful to be alive. Life is beautiful AND FINITE. Please remember that if we are "blessed" enough, we get to grow old. I am so thankful for my health. I feel so bad for the Madonna's of the world who feel they "can't" grow old. You're gorgeous! Live AND LOVE your life - its the best gift you've ever received!

First time viewer. I was shocked to learn you are in your mid 50s: SHOCKED. You look amazing. No flattery, just a fact from a total stranger who has never seen you before today.
I really appreciate how you set up this video, as if it were a 1-on-1 instead talk with a friend, not a public video anyone can watch. That's quite wise to make certain people understand that this really *is* a vulnerable share, and to consider that before they harshly judge and comment (it won't stop those who lack empathy for others, but it may give some pause).
Yes, *any* physician can open a MediSpa and...worse still...any surgeon can offer plastic surgery procedures. Seriously. I double check surgeons credentials and make certain they have not only an MD, but also the FACS specialty, as well. Preferably with head & neck specialty (i.e. Augenstein was an otolaryngologist first before becoming a plastic surgeon w/the FACS specialty).
Laser Genesis is notoriously bad (nationwide). Most dermatologists will not recomment radio frequency, although some do (as a money maker). Gaslighting is a *real* issue when you're dealing with narcissists (and even psychopaths can gaslight others, especially if they fear a law suit).
You can use heat on the skin, but not too much heat and not too deep, and you really need an expert in using whatever particular heat device they're wielding. Most females in their 50s don't need to lose any fat in their face, they need to gain a bit of fat in their face (and neck). The largest number of complaints I come across is the Ultera device (aka Ultherapy) which heats the skin at deeper levels (which we know causes fat loss). They make the same claim as Morpheus, to tighten and lift the skin. BS
***Morpheus 8 is a HARD NO per skilled plastic surgeons*** Dr. Amil Karam, plastic surgeon in San Diego (whose gives stellar results) has a video talking about no Morpheus, if you're interested in watching.
You are such a good friend to tell your friend Karen to abort mission. That is what a true, empathic, decent human being tells their good friend when they hear they are being scammed and *wildly* upsold procedures they don't need.
Personally, I swear by IPL. I had 3 treatments in my late 30s and 3 treatments in my mid 40s. Extraordinary results both times. I'm 56, and now I'm considering 1-2 more.

Yaaassss I agree with you that the only thing that lifts sagged skin is through surgery. I always thought that is NO WAY anything else would do that when I was offered different procedure packages. @annieg.7051 I've not found a surgeon I want to use yet. I'm still in research phase (for 3 yrs now! 😅). Which is why I wanted to know from this channel who in the States is still charging 9-10,000. The benefit going to Canada is saving money. Our dollar is worth considerably more than the Canadian dollar. I know this because I was engaged to a Canadian for 5 yrs. Unfortunately neither of us was willing to move...we're not together anymore.
