Oh, my goodness. I appreciate you guys immensely. This did not feel like 2.5 hours. Not only is it the perfect level of detail and exactly what I was looking for, but the cherry on top is your sense of humor. Thanks for making me actually laugh out loud multiple times
Danial said he is summarizing chapter by chapter. Given that there are "over 100" chapters, hes actually done a prettt good job here. Im honestly impressed that this isnt even longer. The audiobook is almost 60 hours long; if we say he was summarizing exactly 💯 chapters for the sake of convenience that is only 1.2 minutes PER CHAPTER! Honestly, this is quote impressive. And, its just generally great, Daniel. Good job! 👍❤🎉
This was brilliant and so so helpful! Exactly what I needed after I read the first chapter of book 5 and realised I had no bloody clue what happened in 4 despite reading it less than six months ago!
No idea how I managed to forget so much from a book I read twice. And I was feeling so confident about it too. This brief summary was just what I needed.
I loved Lyft healing Teft. Like, they're all crowding around Kaladin and all of a sudden Teft starts talking, and Lyft is just "I assumed you wanting me to wake him, too. You did, right?"
At great risk of sounding like a fan boy, I can’t think of a character I dislike. Even characters I dislike, it’s more of a love to hate them. Like Moash. Even now as I try going through characters in my mind deliberately looking for someone I at least don’t care for, I go “yeah I guess I don’t care for this one” but then I remember some aspect about them that makes me go “actually never mind I do like this one.” Lyft is great!
We did the math. This video probably took Daniel 12ish hours. And if you divide 12 by $1.99, that means we are giving back at a rate of $0.166 cents per hour. (Slightly more than what we pay our greedy bastard of an editor). You’re so welcome 😮💨
Masterful summary! Great use of humor to lighten up a huge undertaking. Thanks for the summary. I just finished my RoW reread, but I needed to remember some details, and this video was very useful.
Daniel, you are a gift to us all. This was absolutely amazing and hilarious. I was cackling in laughter while on my walk, catching odd looks from passerbys, but it was so worth it. Thank you for being you and being such a light to the community.
Yeow. This is crazy. No idea how you put this together. I am so thankful for light, humorous tone throughout. Ran out of time on my audiobook re-read so this was perfect! Listened while driving for work. Thank you!
Honestly, you should do these for the rest the series. It's entertaining it gives the viewer all the main plot points in the book... i mean this is the best summary i think ive ever seen. NEED MOAR!!!
This is going to be incredibly useful this week and my god this must have taken ages of work off screen. Thank you for this! Didn't have enough time in my Reread to cover RoW so this is a godsend
Thank you so much Daniel and Kayla! I cannot express how grateful i am for this video, its like the only reason i feel prepared for Wind and Truth. Im so happy and grateful for all your hard work, both of you 🩵
I love this chapter by chapter format!!! I am reading through this book for the first time and I like getting a summary up to where I'm at so far, and not get spoiled. Also I super duper appreciate how you are giving definitions as you go
Awesome summary, that's how summaries should be done. Also an explanation the most key points at the end would be great. The Wind and Truth hype is real!
have not read the book yet but i know this video mustve taken so much time and effort so ive had it playing in the background all day. looking forward to actually watching it through once ive read the book 🙏
Alright. 1. I'm halfway through the vid, you've just changed shirts, and I had to hover over the end to make sure it didn't actually take THREE DAYS. Unless you wore another black shirt. Or didn't change your shirt. 2. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this. I'm ~80% of the way through Oathbringer for my reread. I thought I'd have to be a month late on listening to WaT while I went through RoW, but here you are being a LITERALLY GOD DAMN HERO. edit: 1:28:50 a mirror cube! The best cube
I just have to say, goodness man you did an incredible job. Successfully describing the key points of the book chapter by chapter in and of itself is a feat, but the addition of goofy humor, suggested cast for the characters and comedic segways interspersed made this not only an educational recap, but also a genuinely fun video to watch. I started re-reading TWOK last month hoping to catch up in time for Wind and Truth, but we're now at the release date and I'm only 15 chapters into Rhythm of War. I've been going back and forth between just finishing Rhythm of War and reading Wind and Truth later, or finding a good recap, and your recap settled it for me. I'm just TOO eager to start reading the new installment, and your video has made this possible for me. Thank you for putting in the time to make this video. Thanks to you I'll be happily reading Wind and Truth tomorrow. Burning glyphpairs of thanks to you as we speak
That was impressive. It is how I've wanted reviews to be done. You didn't get bogged down in the theory crafting which many people do. Great work and thank you.
Dude! This was excellent and exactly what I was looking for. I'm a decent way into Wind and Truth and realized I needed a recap of Rhythm of War. Thanks for the good work and for making it like a talk show where your hosting the book/story!
Thank you so much for this!!! I thought I could get away with watching a VERY brief summary of the Rhythm of War before jumping into book 5 and very quickly realized I needed more detail. This was super helpful!!
Started my re-read of Stormlight archive before the Wind And Truth, but didn't have much time to read lately. Only now finished book 3 and Wind and Truth is already out for 1 day!!! So yeah, it's a very helpful video. Thanks, Daniel!
Only 1/3 of the way through this but I'd like to say that this is great, love the humor you add and it's definitely making my brain remember the things I need to heading into WaT
This was amazing, and properly entertaining the whole way through! Super helpful too cause I struggled through this book the first read and got stuck on my second. Glad to have this 10 days out from book 5!
What have you done to me Daniel. I watched the entire video, WTF. :D By the way, this is the first time in my life I watch a 2 hours+ video on TH-cam. Congrats!
I've been attempting to reread this for two weeks now before the next book dropped, but haven't been able to focus on it. Finding this made my day. This was very helpful, keep up the good work.
I entered a fugue state near the end there after Teft retired to run group therapy sessions with Phendorana until he dies of natural causes but it might be worth a mention that the reason Venli finds a radiant spren (Timbre) by her sister's body is because Eshonai managed to swear the first oath before she died and the spren was hers initially (although it presumably wasn't strong enough of a bond to make the spren go catatonic like what happened with Syl). Oh and the reason Moash is blind in a way that stormlight can't fix is because swearing a bondsmith oath while full of Stormlight is apparently really bright so Dalinar has the potential to flashbang everyone around him in future. (Navani's words where she weaponised the oath were personally very satisfying though.) Also the story ends off with Szeth going for his fourth ideal by going back to Shinovar and dealing with the leaders who covered up the return of the "voidbringers" (technically the voidbringers are the humans who haven't left but the void spren did return so I'm counting it.) Because Ishar said he was going to be there to talk about important things and Ishar is more unstable than a steel pusher with two anchors, Dalinar sent his newly qualified mental health therapist to go talk to him and help out which is why Szeth and Kaladin are going to Shinovar in the next book. Wider cosmere lore but apparently the chickens give you extra powers which is why Mraize has one (although what they do varies). The guy who he killed with the red chicken had metalminds and was therefore a feruchemist from Scadrial. Also Wit is pen pals with a bunch of the other shards like Odium. Ambition tells him they have a restraining order against him but Harmony is willing to help out where possible. Considering those were the only things which might be of significance which I didn't hear mentioned in that beast of a video I have to say well done and an excellent summary! Would you like to destroy evil today?
Got my copy of wind and truth today and now, thanks to you and this monumental effort, I'm primed and ready to dive into those bible-thin pages. Great video! Thank you for always going the extra mile ♥️
Thanks for doing this!!! This is EXACTLY what I tried to find before I read the extended excerpt (which covered about 1/4 of Wind and Truth). I’ve finished that by now, but this is super helpful for context of what I’ve already read as well as the rest of book 5. You’re the best!
Thank you for this summary. I tried rereading the novels before book five came out but only got to half of Oathbringer. This chapter-by-chapter summary was perfect and jogged my memory. Now I can enjoy book five on day 1 like everyone else. 😊
Can't tell you how unbelievably helpful this is! I always try to find a summary when a new stormlight book comes out and it's so hard to find one that hits all the points you need!
You have saved me from the confusion fog that normally plagues me the first 20 chapters of a Brandon Sanderson release! Thank you for this, just reread the series three months ago and I’m shocked by how may details I’ve forgotten since then!
Daniel, Moash didnt betray *because* of Leshwi, he betrayed because he wanted to kill the king and failed so he left bridge 4 and Kal. Then Leshwi killed his crew after and then got killed by Moash, so other fused took him as a slave for being “passionate”. And then he kills the king in front of Kal during the fused invasion
Thanks Daniel! I'm running out of days to relisten to the audio books. The dulcet tones of the Goblin King are much preferred to reading a summary online!

Good job! 👍❤🎉
At first, I thought the idea of this (2.5 hour!!) summary was crazy. BUT. I ended up loving it and really grateful for it.
On day three of watching this while I complete tasks around the house. Thank you for keeping me company, Daniel
This was phenomenal - the depth of info & overall detail, the delivery & the extra call-outs to the other parts of the cosmere. THANK YOU
This was brilliant and so so helpful! Exactly what I needed after I read the first chapter of book 5 and realised I had no bloody clue what happened in 4 despite reading it less than six months ago!
Just what I needed before the next book. I've forgotten everything I ever knew about Stormlight Archive.
How can you not love Lift? She's Awesome!
Don't forget the 60 hrs it took listening to the book.
@Stumblingthroughlife he reads the book. You can tell by the way he pronounces a few names wrong
That's not very vorin of him😢
Thank you so much for the incredible community service in making this video ❤❤
Thank you! Really appreciate your work. Now I'm ready for Wind and Truth!!
The Dog and the Dragon story in chapter 80 was life changing. Thanks for the detailed recap!
This is what I look for all the time when I'm looking for summaries, thank you so much!
I finished my re-read of RoW last month and I still need this video.
Finished my re-read of the book yesterday, this is gonna be a fun watch.
@@CulnamoElrond Same!!!
@@taratruesdale-mcgregor8618 Only 2 weeks for Winds and Truth!
What a feat man, thank you so much! Was not able to re-read in the end, this is godsent❤
Ah, just short enough for me to watch during my lunch break
I wanna work where you work.
would take me 6 lunch breaks
I love the self imposed difficulty of writing everything out on an actual whiteboard instead of doing it digitally. Truly dedicated
Putting this out two weeks ahead of release gives me just enough time to actually watch it. Bonus: Informative AND entertaining!
"We are within striking range of the conclusion!" [checks time, there are 40 minutes to go] Hm. Yes.
¡Gracias!
Holy crap! You put so much time into this, I’ve been looking for a good summary since I won’t finish the reread in time
Thanks Dan
Have I just finished my RoW reread yesterday? Yes. Am I going to watch this whole video today? Also yes.
Thank you!
This was exactly what I expected/ wanted. Thank you, Daniel.
No need to do it again unless you feel like it.
I just finished my reread and I still needed this, BLESS YOU SIR
Honestly, you should do these for the rest the series. It's entertaining it gives the viewer all the main plot points in the book... i mean this is the best summary i think ive ever seen. NEED MOAR!!!
It's been four years since I've read it, but thank you for the chapter clarification.
I definitely appreciate this amount of effort.
This is going to be incredibly useful this week and my god this must have taken ages of work off screen. Thank you for this! Didn't have enough time in my Reread to cover RoW so this is a godsend
As a student who is currently unable to keep up with his reread, i appreciate this :)
Thanks!
I am saving this until I finish my re-read. But 2.5hrs!! Kudos for the herculean effort!
Alright.
Thank you soooo much for this!! I needed this more than I realized!
I’ve always wanted to see a long book summary/review from Daniel. Should be interesting.
You deserve it for this one bro
Thank you for doing this! I needed a recap before Wind & Truth, and didn’t have time to listen to the whole book again. ❤
Dude this was great. Perfect primer for WaT. Your hard work is appreciated
Also i died at void…taint
Thanks, Daniel! This is exactly what i needed before Dragonsteel.
I was intimidated by the length, but that was such a good video. Lighthearted and fun, while giving a great summery.
Thank you, I really enjoyed it :)
Thanks for bein you Daniel i always enjoy your videos greatly and help my days go better awesome summary thank you and have a wonderful day
Wake up babe, Daniel just released a summary of a book I've read three times.
Thank you so much for this!!! I thought I could get away with watching a VERY brief summary of the Rhythm of War before jumping into book 5 and very quickly realized I needed more detail. This was super helpful!!
Okay nvm, this was extremely helpful haha. Thanks for putting this together, I’ll be lucky to finish Oathbringer by the end of the week
Oh awesome, it's the one book I might not get to re-read before the new release.
As an audiobook guy, it’s always fun to see how you paper readers pronounce the names
Excellent video though. Super appreciated 🙇♂️
Started my re-read of Stormlight archive before the Wind And Truth, but didn't have much time to read lately. Only now finished book 3 and Wind and Truth is already out for 1 day!!!
So yeah, it's a very helpful video. Thanks, Daniel!
"A Brief Rhythm of War Summary," Daniel said accurately.
Only 1/3 of the way through this but I'd like to say that this is great, love the humor you add and it's definitely making my brain remember the things I need to heading into WaT
my wind and truth copy got delivered while i was like halfway through this video and I decided to finish the video before reading
Ahw, best video I’ve seen on YT in ages. Thank youuuuu!!!! ❤
This was amazing, and properly entertaining the whole way through! Super helpful too cause I struggled through this book the first read and got stuck on my second. Glad to have this 10 days out from book 5!
Seriously mad respect brother amazing performance and perspective.
Thank you..enjoyed. every moment
You’re an absolute hero, perfect summary
I remember the early days of your channel. I watched and rewatched your WoT video series again and again. Good old days
What have you done to me Daniel. I watched the entire video, WTF. :D
By the way, this is the first time in my life I watch a 2 hours+ video on TH-cam. Congrats!
I've been attempting to reread this for two weeks now before the next book dropped, but haven't been able to focus on it.
Finding this made my day.
This was very helpful, keep up the good work.
Aight, did I miss something?
Thank you Squarespace for sponsoring today's video: www.squarespace.com/danielgreene
Where are the video bookmarks for each chapter? 😂
@@FrankKatzenberger if you time code them, no lie, i will add them.
Ha! Would love to but ADHD, LOL
Its been a while since I audiobooked too, but... I think it's an I in Ialai, pronounced EEE-UH-LAY
Thank you for this! I was stalled out on chapter 42 for years now and I needed this to catch up. 👏
Man Daniel. I'm not watching you often those days but this was really well done.
This is exactly what I needed as I ran out of time to finish my reread of the series (and it was highly entertaining). Thank you!!
Thank you for this summary. I tried rereading the novels before book five came out but only got to half of Oathbringer. This chapter-by-chapter summary was perfect and jogged my memory. Now I can enjoy book five on day 1 like everyone else. 😊
Just got Wind and Truth today, so (pitch) perfect timing! I am well invested in your video, thanks for the summary!
Thanks for this! Just what I was looking for.
That moment when you realize that, in a sense, Navani is the Vegapunk of the Stormlight Archives.
This was incredible. And perfectly timed for the overly optimistic reader who thought they could reread Rhythm of War but ran out of time
I am about 1/3 through my reread and worried I might not finish before WoT, so THANK YOU SO MUCH for this recap!!!
@@carriethejoyful Me too! I am just running out of timeeee!
Thanks Daniel! I'm running out of days to relisten to the audio books. The dulcet tones of the Goblin King are much preferred to reading a summary online!
Another fantastic video! Thank you!
Thank you for the awesome content. This is exactly what I needed before the next book!
