The First Impressions of Lebanon During Economic Crisis 🇱🇧 الانطباعات الأولى عن لبنان

  • After exploring Jordan in the Middle East it was time for a new country. Regardless of hearing so many times from other travelers and friends that it is not the right time for Lebanon, I still booked my flights and arrived in Beirut - the capital city.
The first thing first, the economical crisis is real and the situation of the country does not get any better. The value of the local currency drops day by day. As of mid-December, I changed 200 USD to around 5 million Lebanese Pounds. Which is a huge amount of cash to carry around.
There was an explosion in the port in 2020, and you still see so many abandoned buildings by the sea - broken windows, destroyed walls - some of them you can see in the video.
Overall I am enjoying my stay in this beautiful country and planning to stay longer. The most important people are so lovely! So you should expect more content from Lebanon. For now, enjoy the first impressions video from Beirut.

The number of beggars has increased with the Syrian war and economic situation of Lebanon. The trash...well...you imagine yourself...in the middle of a huge political/economic crises and Corona epidemy the port exploded the way we all saw on the news. The trash is the last thing that the government will take care of. And yet, you see people treating the tourists the way they treat. Lebanon is amazing and the Lebanese people are adorable. Love from a Brazilian in Germany ❤

There are well over a dozen different varieties of kubbeh in the levant
Generally it has 2 main ingredients bulgur/wheat and meat
You should try kibbeh nayyeh (raw kibbeh) it is specific to the south lebanese region although it's raw but it tastes really good

what did you see in Lebanon?
You go to film the trash? If you want to see the real Lebanon you should’ve arranged a tourist plan instead of walking around randomly, I am sure if i travel to Azerbaijan i will find poor people, beggars and trash if I go to the areas that you avoided to film in your own country.
All countries have their good and bad sides, if i compare this video with other tourist videos in Lebanon, then I will think you are in another country completely, I feel bad that your trip to Lebanon was useless without seeing the beauty of the real Lebanon.

Lebanon , Syria, Jordan, Palestine " the Levant countries" are sharing 90% the same culture ,food..etc so if you went to more diffrent restaurents in Jordan you would find tabbuleh and kubbeh " that's how we say it here 😅".... but as lebanese are good in marketing and showing their culture, other countries think that it's lebanese,, will some are originaly from lebanon like tabbouleh and fattoush but you can't say that about kubbeh shawerma and hommos ,,,,any dish that appears in any part of the levant countrie - through ages- spread the other day to the rest 😅 ... anyway that bread is called " khubez shami " which means leavant bread

Yeah 😅 zaatar in Jordan and Palestine is different from that in Lebanon and Syria,,actually you may find different types of zaatar in the same country ... becsuse besides the way and used ingrediants of making it , in arabic we say "zaatar" for both origano and thyme and these tow are from the same herbs family but they are slightly different in taste .

Paris of the Middle East. When is it a good time to go? I went Lebanon many years ago after my ghastly oppressive trip to Jordan and absolutely loved it. People were pretty decent to me and food great. Also there are some really good looking people there and while yes it probably is too much into nose jobs, i did not find them unpleasant as can often go with vanity. As a brown person i felt chilled here. Though I have read they can be mean to domestic folk but i think thats not just a Lebanese problem, i think its world wide. Absolutely love Beirut and the best food. The currency was in a better state when i visited, i think i paid in dollars in main. Your 75 dollars thing sounds insane! Things must be worse. (Gosh is that the infamous suicide spot, eeks had forgotten that!)
