Beirut, Lebanon ➖ Lebanon is currently in a state of despair. Since 2019, the Lebanese lira has lost 95% of its value putting many families on the brink of survival. Not only this, but the country is facing waves of Covid-19, corruption, and many are still recovering from the horrific Beirut Port Blast that killed more than 200 people.
Having trusted only the mainstream media to get information on Lebanon prior to my trip, I wanted to visit Lebanon to see what it's like on the ground. Talking to the local Lebanese people about the situation and learning about the issues that many face across the country.
Join me as I showcase real-life in Lebanon, showcasing its beauty, history, delicious food, and of course the amazing Lebanese people.

As an Aussie living in Lebanon I find this country simply amazing and I am so sick of the media only reporting negative news. As far as the lebanese breakfast, what you had doesn't even scratch the surface of a real lebanese breakfast. I hope you went outside of that area you filmed from, so much to see and do in Lebanon! Great video ! I came to Lebanon from Norway to study Arabic at the American University of Beirut eight years ago. I just loved every bit of my stay in this gorgeous and hospitable country that has taken more than two million refugees ( Armenians, Palestinians, Iraqis and Syrians who make the largest number). Lebanon is amazing with majestic nature, landscape and climate. What to say about its rich history and the Phoenician civilization who invented the Alphabet we use today and above all gave us the name of our continent Europe named after Princess Europe (ERP) born in the ancient city of Tyre. The history of Tyre is even more ancient than Rome . I learned in an Expo in Genova that Tyrenean sea ( il mare Tirreno ) between Italy and Greece is called after the Phoenicians of Tyre because they have founded many cities in the Western Mediterranean in Italy, Malta, Spain, Portugal and France as well as Greece …
There is no doubt that the Lebanese political elite is disturbingly corrupt, but there is one thing I don’t understand: what is the European Union thinking by enforcing the American financial embargo on Lebanon? Have we, Europeans asked ourselves: how will our countries cope if Lebanon decides to follow Turkey’s Erdogan blackmail approach and demand that the Syrian and Iraqi refugees must go home, and these refugees decide instead to head for Cyprus, Greece, Italy…?

The guy with the perfume was actually really sweet. It's a cultural thing, it's our way of manifesting a trip to Australia into reality. It could sound silly to some but the principle of it being 'if I gift an Australian something thoughtful, maybe it'll be rewarded by God with a trip to Australia.'
I don't mean to sound overtly critical and I'm sure it wasn't your intention at all , but the way you dismissed him was sorta rude and gauche, he clearly understood you were looking for food, I mean...he was just trying to give you a gift and he was so welcoming.

Great to see a new travel series, this time it's my home country! The pizza-like food you ate is called "Manakish". It's like the Arabic version of pizza but instead of typical ingredients like tomato sauce etc. they just put one or two ingredients. There are sorts like cheese, Zaatar (thyme herbs, the brown one you asked), ground beef (called lahmacun) and so on 😁

I thought so, thanks for confirmation.
But where can tourist search cheap rentals on apartments on locals no agencies ?
I prefer to give money to owners that need for living in this hardship times then to speculators.
On online newspapers , Facebook groups?
      Monthly rentals .
Problem is that you will rent a space that is in shortage of electricity,heating,etc..
      Extreme tourism like locals conditions.
