WOW, that was quite a hike, back and forth. I can only imagine how tricky those dunes were. You seemed like you both were the only signs of life around... but then Doug pointed out the sparrows, the animal prints, and the underground mounds. I can only imagine the forms of life that emerge at night. Getting lost would be easy, I would imagine. Falling down those mounds of sand... YIKES.
That was very interesting, and challenging, Doug and Kellie. You both earned that yummy lunch. 😋 I don't think that would be a location to explore alone. I'm glad you had each other, and were pretty aware of your surroundings. Thank you for being our guides, Doug and Kellie, and sharing info with us.
    very interesting, informative, and entertaining

@@rhondaz356 Howdy Rhonda! We did see a huge hare, a big black tailed jack rabbit. They are more erect than a cottontail, have very large ears, and are the size of house cat. The one we saw was running so fast I didn't have time to get him on video. If the sun was out the colors and textures would have popped out and you would have really enjoyed seeing them. We are not in charge of the weather, just thankful it was not snowing or a dust storm. Walking in the sand is a hard workout; like using snow shoes almost. I would like to see the dunes at night to observe all the little nocturnal residents. We won't get enough snow in the mountains yet, so will probably be investigating the desert some more for you. 🤠🇺🇸👋💙🙏🏜️🌅🐺🐻🐭🐹🐰🦝🐴🐐🐂🐎🦌🦨

@CalNeva That's right. I do remember you mentioning the giant hare that scurried by. I bet it doesn't run into too many humans. Nighttime must be a whole, different world. Please be ***extra careful if you ever visit the dunes then.😳 Wishing you a FANtastic day, Doug.

Great cardio workout. Just don't overdo it. No matter the temperature you always need to keep hydrated. About 15 years
ago (when it was still free) I walked in the Indiana State Dunes Park and wow not easy climbing up or down a dune there either! Kellie always makes a nice lunch and some tasty sounding cookies. Took a nap when you got home Doug? Me too!

Yes, we were a little tired because of working out muscles we never use. I think I went to bed a little earlier than normal that day. Those dunes sound very interesting in Indiana; I would enjoy experiencing those too! 🤠

Hello Brother Doug and Kellie 👋. I really enjoyed this trip, especially the animal tracks in the sand, and the wonderful silence! First tracks I noticed near the beginning were coyotes. Looking for yummy kangaroo rat 🐀 dinner no doubt! And raven tracks up on the sand ridge you also walked. I could hear a raven talking it up too. I love Ravens, you might have noticed, 😊.
Another great hike Brother, with a cookie 🍪 clip too! It was definitely fun ! 🇺🇸

The Kelso Dunes in So Cal Mojave Desert makes a booming sound when the conditions are right. Dryness and humidity. Pushing the sand down makes an acoustic sound. This is very similar to the Kelso area. Most dune areas are restricted to OHV.

Change it to Kellie Ziniga, the curator of the Mineral County Museum is making travel and historical films to promote Nevada. Doug Berry is providing aide to make these promotional films. Think tax deduction for mileage, fuel, overnight accommodations, etc. Might check with a good tax guy. Maybe : )

Hi Yall, the bigger dunes remind me of "Sionging" Sand Mountain East of Fallon back in the early 60's. It DID sing with the wind moving the sand until the people with dune buggies got going crazy on it and filled the sand with oil and other products, it no longer makes any sounds asd I've been told, shame !! You guys are richt to protect these dunes in topdays society . Harry in AK
