  • A presentation made each year to honour the services of the many volunteers present for the great race. For this year, the event was held in a pavilion build ON the race track between qualifying and the race of that year's Le Mans 24 Hours.
    Transcript of dedication
    ===================
    "Steve, it was as a spectator that you discovered the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1980s, and you had the dream of one day becoming a track marshal.
    This dream came to an end in June 2000 while stationed at Goodwood for the Festival of Speed with Andy Carpenter, who had been stationed at Le Mans, at poste 106 near Arnage, a few days before. You enjoyed friendship during this day but unfortunately an accident happens - a car goes off the track. Andy is killed, you lose a leg, suffer many other traumas and you are shattered, along with your dream of becoming a new commissioner too.
    Bernard Nirrengarten is the head of poste 106, he learns your story and invites you to come back to Le Mans in 2003. He is touched and understands your desire to fulfil your dream of becoming a 24-hour marshal. The Automobile Club de L'Ouest, through Daniel Poissenot (race director), accepts your application with Bernard that you will officiate at poste 106.
    For ten years, you have been an excellent commissioner, displaying the flags perfectly in all situations, and in 2015 you will move and be present with the pit crew.
    The Automobile Club de L'Ouest, with the FIA, is therefore happy to award you this favourite trophy of the 24 hours of Le Mans for your hard work."
