As an American who watches NASCAR on a weekly basis, I've admittedly gotten used to the sound of the NASCAR Cup Series Next-Gen Camaro, but hearing it reverberate through the french countryside is truly orgasmic, and I want to know what Hendrick Motorsports did to make the car so fast, as it's the fastest GT car at the Circuit De La Sarthe
They kept the base body, engine, transaxle, and chassis, but they moved the engine back and down, replaced the fuel-cell with a long-distance tank, added a lot of aerodynamic surfaces, and pulled out 500 lbs. of weight. They've also changed the horsepower limiter so it's puts out substantially more power than the base Cup car. The modified car is about 8 seconds faster per lap around the Charlotte infield road course than the unmodified Cup car. It's so good that, honestly, it makes me think that maybe NASCAR should use some version of it as a road course package. If road courses are going to be a bigger part of the NASCAR calendar, maybe NASCAR should have a package for those tracks.

If it was a standard NASCAR car the leaders would be tripping over it every time it approached Mulsanne Corner. It’d be braking when they’re still accelerating behind it at 200+. It wouldn’t last 5 laps

There has got to be a Nascar class at future LeMans races - hopefully several teams would convert cars (400lbs lighter plus sequential gear box etc) and come over for this amazing race!
I kinda hope it makes other manufacturers more interested in NASCAR too. Imagine a nissan GTR NASCAR. that would be pretty cool to see the sport grow like that.
This car was a one off built strictly for the 24 hours at LeMans by Hendrick Motorsports in conjunction with the 100th Anniversary of LeMans, and the 75th Anniversary of NASCAR. But it sure was a blast watching it race.
It is nice to be sure but for me the screaming V10s of old F1 are my favourite race car engine sound. And just like this NASCAR the TV can’t do them full justice you have to be in person and FEEL the engine as if passes by to get the full experience.
I can't get enough of this video. It's glued and stable through the corners, has the motor to keep up with the hyper cars on the straights, and sounds absolutely punishing. I haven't been this excited for Le Mans in years. The 100th anniversary is living up to all the hype so far!
Well Jimmie Johnson always said he loved driving anything with an engine. He's on a team who does this. Cup, F1, DTM, Le Mans. Jenson and Jimmie have done really great things throughout their career, but Mike Rockenfeller is the guy who will kick ass in this car. It's no different to him than the GT cars he has been driving.
I love it it is brutal it's almost like while the prototypes are streamlined to cut through the air the Chevy just uses brute force to push through the air brilliant
Love it. It looks absolutely huge compaired to most all the other cars. The sound is awesome. It reminds me when I was at Sebring hearing Panoz, Corvettes and Lou Gigliotti's GT3 Corvette that was louder than the GT1 Factory Corvettes.

Heard about this prototype car from friends and had to look it up myself. Kudos to the Hendrick race team for their success in showing that NASCAR can excel on a street course and sound/look good while doing so!
That performed so much better than I expected. So much speed out of the corners and even in the straights despite the big spoiler. I wonder if they decide to go to a LMP type spoiler to get the top end speed on the long straights. I love the sound of the V8 crossplane!
It wouldn`t look like a NASCAR then. They could have the spoiler lower at say 250km though. You don`t have to develop anything fancy. Wind at a certain speed could push it down to flatten out the angle.I`m surprised that Knaus didn`t think of it. He is known in the stockcar world as being creative with the rule book.
I really do hope for everyone, who luckily is at LeMans, that this sound will last the full 24 hours. This is so insane on screen and must be hillarious and goosebumps-making on the fence!

Out of the 4 Garage 56 entries that have actually started the race they are the only two to finish. They were also not last overall or out of the LMP2s in either qualifying or race which was impressive.
@@maxb148 I remember the 2021 entry, thanks for reminding me!
@Manasseh257 wasn't that the 6 wheeled deal Ganassi proposed for Indycar?
It didn't wreck so much as it got taken out.
THIS IS V8 SOUND, love it, greetings from Germany.
This is the most American thing we could've done. I have a tear in my eye. All these lean super pretty cars roll past then this fat chunky brute chops down the lane. I love it. The cams are singing a song, a metal song.
Same here can’t help but feel patriotic when I hear or see this 😂
I felt patriotic also...and I'm black lol but this definitely national pride to here that V8 spread freedom
Agreed! As far as I know it's one cam since it's the old style single in-block cam pushrod engine. Which makes it even cooler that it's raging around the Le Mans circuit.
takes me right back to watching Panoz lumbering around Le Mans making the most glorious V8 noise I've ever heard. I'd love to see this team complete the 24 hours. Best of luck to them.
LOVED the Panoz cars for sure.
Words cant describe how excited I am for the Garage 56 right now.
Same bro🤩
Jimmy will probably wreck it.
@@robertjones7565 love jimmie, but knowing this driver my whole life. There is a good possibility of some dumb wreck that jimmie accidentally causes.
I love how it grabs everyone's attention as it flys by! You hear the sound of that V8 in person and man, you're hooked! Y'all know that NASCAR is where it's at!
Imagine if all of the cup cars ran in this spec at the road courses.
Rumor has it they plan to reverse-engineer many of the components on an attempt to make the road course racing better
Half those spoiled lil shits would have it wadded up, after running all over each other in the first corner.
I swear this took me 20 minutes to watch because I couldn't fathom how fast and nimble that car is. Absolutely astounding.
That’s the first time in an extremely long time that I enjoyed watching a Cup car actually run.
Sounds of the 60s when the gt40s raced. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your comment 👍 !
This video made my shaving a WHOLE LOT better. Just hearing the exhaust from all those cars passing by with each swipe of the blade made me happy.
😅
What an awesome event, a NASCAR Camaro running LaMans with a trio of great drivers and Team Hendricks!
Sounds so freaking awesome. So proud of NASCAR and Chevy for entering this race. Going to be awesome.
Man that takes me back to all the nascar races I went to as a kid just a constant roar and actually feeling the vibration as the pack of cars goes by at 190 mph just perfect
I am kicking myself that I’m never gonna see this car
@DreamedJman or Bristol Tennessee
Had the pleasure of being in its presence at Daytona and even stick my head inside to see. Its beautiful
Sebring
@@jman2787 unfortunately I live in a land down under and that’s abit out of my budget atm 🥹
Me to am going to the belgium GP in juli haering the nascar kind of regrets me
I cant remember a race where I was so excited to see a specific car. LMH, LMP2, GTE, andddd NASCAR 🤩
Thanks for the footage, been waiting to see more of the Camaro on track
Thanks for your comment man, glad you enjoyed ! 😊
Nothing sounds better than a Chevy performance engine❤
It is nice to be sure but for me the screaming V10s of old F1 are my favourite race car engine sound.
And just like this NASCAR the TV can’t do them full justice you have to be in person and FEEL the engine as if passes by to get the full experience.
@@lordomacron3719 Frfr I love high rev v10s and v12s
I can't get enough of this video. It's glued and stable through the corners, has the motor to keep up with the hyper cars on the straights, and sounds absolutely punishing. I haven't been this excited for Le Mans in years. The 100th anniversary is living up to all the hype so far!
American V8, bravo Mr. Hendrick! 👏🏽
Nascar at LeMans... NICE!!! Read up on what was, mechanically modified, for the race. * Sees lights illuminate on the Nascar * ...🤯soooo weird!
Thanks for the vids! She's a lot faster than I thought it would be through the turns.
To be honest: that car rockets out of the slow corners.
Someone in LeMans finally got to hear a REAL race car after all these years
Idk how to put this but It feels so out of place in the best way possible, I can’t stop smiling I’m so excited for this
that straight line speed is awesome. Thats going to annoy some drivers trying to get past it during the middle of the night haha
Only 305 KM/H during the testday, so around 189 MPH 🙂
@@LeMansVidz BIG downforce..... would go 200+ and right off into the sunset at the turn...
@Tommy Teeth Yeah, I'm sure about that too ! They need to reduce that rear wing !
1:20 that dude with the sound protection literally lifted them off his ears just to listen to that glorious V8.
Ahaha ! Good catch 😅
Just somthing about that low rumble.. man it sounds freaking awesome ❤😂
I cant help but feel so patriotic and proud hearing those bald eagles thundering down the racetrack! The sound is amazing!!
It's like the c7r is back but with a different look 😁
I was waiting for this for a long time!
Without a doubt the v8s from the caddy and nascar put smiles on every gear head that day
You're totally right!
Can we take a moment to appreciate that it’s actually pretty damn fast!!!
That next GEN seven NASCAR sounds very good with that V8 screaming and the down shifts with flames shooting out the side of the car it looks cool can not what to watch the race
That thing is NOT a Gen 7 NASCAR. Heavily modified. Would never pass inspection for a NASCAR race
@@band1tsixx954 Basic chassis and such is the same, and hopefully this will end up feeding into Gen 8, since Chevrolet has to share the data gathered from this with the other NASCAR manufacturers.
Wow that was brilliant. The echo of that Camaro bouncing off of the walls at LeMans is breathtaking. ✌🏻🇺🇸
Excellent Content, thanks, a suggestion, if it were possible for you to record on the Mulsanne straight at night? (flyby), greetings.
Heh! Takes quite a while to get to les hunaudières. It’s on the outside of the circuit. And you need to book a table at the restaurant to view from the garden. But it’s worth it for the experience 😊
Thanks for your comment man ! 😃 It won't be possible for me this year as I dont go to the race unfortunately 😕 And as Andy said it's a bit tricky to access the Mulsanne straight.
@@LeMansVidz And there I was, hoping you’d be doing 24 hours of minute-by-minute coverage.! 😁
Ah well. I’m sure there must be something important keeping you away from the race. Hope you manage to keep track of events anyway. I’ve only been there twice and time the Ueno Clinic McLaren F1 was the winner!
@Andy Lewis Ahaha ! I would love to ! Yeah... thanks to the ACO for the horrible communication on the tickets.... didn't manage to get some, so I'll watch on the TV. I see, so you've been in 1995 ?
It's definitely got peoples' attention. Watching the heads turn to watch it go by is awesome!!
My favorite thing watching this video is so many people were hearing one of NASCAR's V8's for the first time. The reaction of "what the hell was that"? As it went by was priceless!
Ahh man, this sound is incredible really astonishing to hear
When America shows up with a muscle car... All they needed was a Hellcat engine baby!
Also last time NASCAR made an appearance here, there wasn’t nearly the coverage that there is now so people stateside didn’t get to really enjoy it to this extent so this really is a great treat to be able to witness this historic event! Love it
Heard about this prototype car from friends and had to look it up myself. Kudos to the Hendrick race team for their success in showing that NASCAR can excel on a street course and sound/look good while doing so!
I have the song Born In The USA playing through my mind listening to that V8. What a brute of a car 💪
Thanks for the upload!
This is so insane on screen and must be hillarious and goosebumps-making on the fence!
finished 39th overall
10.5 sur l échelle de Richter 🙂..a chaque passage elle fait tout trembler....cette CAMARO est un véritable Monstre . Quel son et quel gueule. . . c est une Bête féroce....
I'm so glad they're doing this, it's such a fun thing to see. And I'm not even a NASCAR fan! I really hope it finishes the race.
This year will be a CLASSIC!! Subbed. Will watch all you post
Thanks a lot Andy ! Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the race this year 😕
I absolutely LOVE watching it take those kerbs like it's nothing lol. It's actually gonna be making up a LOT of time in the slower and medium speed corners where it doesn't have to worry about hurting the floor when taking a kerb hard.
That engine growl is just as iconic as the F1 V10s. Unmistakable, it’s a NASCAR Stock Car.
The Camaro and Corvette side by side look amazing! Can’t wait for this year’s Le Mans
Outclassed by Everything !!! 🤔 🧐
Now that’s a motor!!!
👍💪🇺🇸🦅
no matter what body style they are in ,the American V-8 always sounds the best . everyone stops to look and listen .
That’s so cool. Funny enough for years I always wanted a V8 Supercar to enter. Then I found out NASCAR was entering a car. Got me excited to see it at Le Man.
Hope they do well. Would love this to make its way to all racing games and sims one day. 😊
Let’s go Jenson Button, Jimmie Johnson and Mike Rockenfeller.
21 year ago I was at Le Mans. Love the sound!
Nothing like the sound of a big V8
Saw this beast turn some laps at sebring in march, Hendrick did a phenomenal job in the build, you can tell its not a spec nascar next gen, would not survive on an oval. Built strictly for a road course👍
Bom dia !!!!
Realmente de arrepiar......
Um dia ainda sonho ir até aí assistir pessoalmente.
Uma das corridas maís fantásticas do Mundo.
Muito obrigado pelo vídeo e parabéns pelo canal.
Abraço do Brasil.....
I'd love to see an on board lap with this car.
Wow this is amazing It feels good seeing a NASCAR turn right as good it turns left 😂
@3:15 chevy and the caddy being all kinds of loud 😎
Thanks for this! I'm ;ooking forward to seeing this in the race. I've never been to a NASCAR race before, but had all the standard misconceptions. Then I saw some demonstration laps by a NASCAR car (there has to be a better way to say that) during the MotoGP races at Laguna Seca one year and I was blown away by how rapidly it could get through the turns and manage the road course! Hope the car lasts the whole race!
I love how it's driven like a stock car and what it's meant for
The sound always brings a smile to my face.
I wish Fox and NBC could use the same microphones / audio approach as this video - TV broadcasts don't capture the sounds of the these cars nearly well enough. Excellent video.
Now we just hope that holds together for 24 hours. Sounds like a real race car compared to the bumblebees humming around the circuit
They finished 39th, despite spending an hour replacing a busted British made transmission.
@@h.cedric8157 That British company is the top racing transmission manufacturer in the world. Xtrac transmissions were in 84% of cars at Le Mans and 11/12 podium finishers. They provide transmissions for all of Indy (since 2000), all of NASCAR, IMSA, WRC, MotoGP, V8 Supercars, a history in F1, and more. They were a leading candidate to be the exclusive supplier for F1 teams for 2021-2024 until the FIA decided to let teams continue making their own. They know what they’re doing.
They need to include the brake lights and headlights in the cup cars perminately. Looks cool! Not sure how safe that is...😅 but it looks cool!
that would be fun but damn they would be constantly getting destroyed lol
@@rcnitrodude999 😅
I am really curious how this will go next week.. is there a life chat next week for all the Lemans enthousiasts next week? I really looking forward to it people
That makes me proud. The driver is right on it everywhere going to the edges of the track. Great job!
I wish I could’ve been there, seeing that NASCAR Chevrolet Camaro running in Le Mans would’ve been quite a sight to see in person
how to make a whole country fall in love with a car? listen to a Camaro in action! (not impartial, I have a ZL1!) 😍 🥰 😁the STAR of Le Mans this year !! ❤🔥
Man this and the Cadillacs sound are just exquisite
