Hell yeah!! I am so glad to see this!! Thank you for saying it. All of the “fantasy self” declutters seem so depressing. I mean, if it’s an old fantasy that is no longer serving you, amen, get rid of it. But the aspirational stuff that thrills to the core even if it’s not practical or currently in use? That’s important. Hold on to those dreams!!

Hey Rebecca! So glad to hear that the video resonated with you. I completely agree with you, if it's an old fantasy that doesn't serve you, let it go. If not, cherish that hope and dream! Thank you for the lovely comment, it was such a pleasure to read!

Hi, I also grew up with a Christian mindset and on my journey of becoming a Buddhist. What brought me on the right track was to behave like the person I wanted to become. Over time, I became that person. I think that my decisions and courage were driven by my fantasy self. I owe it a lot. The results are measurable in the real world. I own two companies now. All the best to you 😎👍🏻

right?! I see all these videos about decluttering the fantasy self (or selves) and it’s so depressing. It’s like these women are giving up on their dreams. They have no goals, nothing to aspire to, they crush their own dreams and live boring lives.

Hey Kristina! Thanks for the comment. That was the general feeling I got when I decluttered my dreams. Wasn't the happiest moment so I figured, let's bring the dreams back. I think it's all part of the minimalism journey. I think for some people, letting go of certain lifestyle expectations can be freeing so I do see some merit in the ideology. I just didn't see many minimalists taking about not decluttering their dreams so I figured I'd provide the other side of the argument for a more balanced view in the minimalism community : ) Thanks for the comment, Kristina, it was a pleasure to read!

i've been through a period of growth and change the past few years and in the process my personal style has changed. if i hadn't bought aspirational/fantasy self pieces to experiment with over the years, i think i'd have stunted that growth as part of my journey has definitely involved evolving my look to match how i felt inside!

Hey Tina! I can completely resonate with that, that when you go through a period of growth on the inside, the outside starts to change. I love that for you, that you didn't stunt that growth part of your journey. Thank you for sharing, it was a pleasure to read!

Hey there my handsome and pretty little cobras! I decluttered my fantasy many years ago and it SUCKED. So I brought back in my fantasy self and I'm so glad that I did. Here are 3 reasons why i refuse to declutter your fantasy self:
    TIMESTAMP:
    01. It's your soul speaking to you
    02. Is it marketing or what you really want?
    03. Try monk mode -> declutter it out of your life for a restart

Never heard of this fantasy self concept with minimalism, then again I haven't heard of a lot of this stuff mentioned these days.

Hey Isaiah. Yeah, maybe it's not a popular concept in Minimalism anymore, but it was super popular when I first started lol. Thanks for sharing, Isaiah, a pleasure to read.

What about clothes you dream of wearing but never do because you just don't feel comfortable?

    • @mignoncobra
      @mignoncobra  ปีที่แล้ว

Hey Tanya, that is a great question! What are your thoughts on the matter?

I know this situation very well and have three suggestions:
      - Accept that there are things that give you joy just by looking at them, even if you don't get any practical use out of them. Their purpose is their beauty. Hang the garment of your dreams in a visible place.
-On a day when you don't feel vulnerable, you can decide to wear one of these clothes, especially to meet friends. If you're unsure, don't wear these things to work or school.
How do you feel when you actually wear these things? Brave? More vulnerable? Happier?
      - If you feel very distressed about not having the courage to wear the item of clothing, you can give it away.
