This song is absolutely written by Harry. First of all, lyrics match perfectly with his writing style. But it is written from someone else's point of view and yeah, you know who "someone" is... and the fact that this song was written in 2015 (or early 2016 i am not sure) tells A LOT.

Not a fan of the music video but this is definitely one of those songs that hits WAY different when you hear it live. I’m telling you man, it’s a whole different experience to watch Harry styles perform anything in a live setting
Harry himself actually said they were just having fun while making it and they liked it so much that it made into the album. Also, this song is the best Harry Styles song to see live. It got MSG shaking.
Hi! Kiwi and the mv also makes no sense to the fandom. So you're not alone with being confused :) BUT it does feeds in one of our biggest roumors in the fandom because of some parallels. When you watch One Direction or the boys solo performances you should watch them perform live! They are great performers and you can definitely see it when they perform. I promise! Liam Payne's performance of Bedroom Floor on Ellen is 20 times better than the video! Kiwi is definitely better live!!!!!

My interpretation has always been that he created a video that’s just fun and aesthetic because the song was written as a joke and as a fun rock song not based on someone in his life so he didn’t want it to be taken literally
Kiwi 3x live is just the kind of video where you feel you are there in the concert with him. The amount of energy and the commitment he has with the music and the fans is just mind blowing!! From beginning to ending, he is giving all for that performance, and he is just enjoying it as much as we are! I think this concert defines Harry’s stage presence and just the passion for everything he does! Reacting or not, please go watch it!!!

Yeah this song is really interesting. It’s one of the more famous songs from his self titled so that’s why it got a music video. There is a clip of Harry singing in in like 2015 so that when he started writing it. I am not sure but I think there’s a story that him and his guitarist, Mitch finished writing while they where high so they had to relearn all the chords later. As for the actual content of the song I think you got it I mean it’s pretty straightforward. They’re are some theories that Louis helped write this song as it would have made much more sense in his POV. Same theories also tie in with the meaning of the music video but it’s a little far-fetched. Anyways it’s an amazing song and the videos pretty iconic.
That 'theory' was literally just hatemongering from Louis fans who love to discredit Harry.

the live stage performance is what you need to see
The song is great. The video is great. The lyrics have their hidden meaning. Everything is ok. Everything is connected. Believe me. Harry exactly knows what he wants to show us.
Can't we just for ONCE keep Larry out of videos? I'm over seeing all the comments all the time. As soon as Larry is mentioned and it's disagreed with the creator gets all this hate. See the body language expert who disagreed Larry was real for proof of that.

To me he is imagining what it would be like if he did have a kid/that if he had a kid the kid would be like him (as we all share genetics with our parents), so it would be dumb to tell him "it's none of your business". I see the girl in the same suit as him reflecting that, like she's like him, while also being her own purpose, so it could never not be his business. The food fight part, from my perspective is just a fun thing that kids get to do, and a medium through which to tell that story. Although puppies and sweet food are both ways to lure kids and so maybe that reflects the fact that it seems as if the woman is luring him in the song "it's like I paid for it / I'm going to pay for this". Or alternatively that he's so great with kids, that the kid (&friends) would love him as if there were cake and puppies. Or maybe that he'd get to be that fun Dad who just jumps in with the fun stuff like food fights and puppies, because the Mum has shut him out in the first place ("it's none of your business"), so when he does get a look in, he'd get to be the cool one with no responsibility? As others say, I'm sure he has his reasons and we may never know, but these are my thoughts...
Kiwi is an infamous song from hs1. no one really knows the exact meaning or correlation between the song and the music video because harrys never actually said much about it. There’s theory’s that it’s about bbg, larry, simon cowel, the way women are portrayed in classic rock songs, some people think it has to due with a bill the legislation passed about gay rights during this time, etc. i just think it’s a banger. great reaction.
Maybe the mv is a kind of reminder of the 1D cake battle on September,18,2011.

I was confused about this video too but in a comment on another site someone interpreted it as Harry was told that it was none of his business but he found the child and they fought for their right and won. It was messy and the child looked just like him. Something like that. We would know if there was a real life situation like that but it reminds me of Michael Jackson's song Billie Jean. I don't doubt that Harry has to deal with that kind of thing however, I love that he often says the interpretation is up to the listener. Once I learn what something really means I am sometimes disappointed. I love the song too and can rewatch it over and over again. Love your insight and thoughts!

The video represents the messy situatuation after the management announsed Louis was expecting a child with "one night stand", too early, without allowing him to do the paternity test after the birth, and still up to date. he is paying for it... a very dabatable situation within the fandom is called the "Babygate"

As for the video, I don’t think they have to be connected- just making a fun carefree video - maybe that’s the link - the carefreeness. I like 2 things videos that connect with the song impeccably & videos that are so random but fun & intriguing. This def falls in that 2nd category 😆😃😃
I interpret Kiwi as just this pure expression of energy, a bit of chaos, and letting go. The song itself is just kind of this big explosion of sound, energy, chaos and noise, and even fun. And what is more of all those things than kids having a food fight with puppies?? :D
I would really recommend checking out when he performed Kiwi Kiwi Kiwi and Los Angeles, this is a very well-known performance because it was his last night of tour. (from what we gather the 3rd time wasn't planned and him and his musician's are all legends for going that hard!!) Check it out!!

Harry released this MV around the time a bakery refused to bake a gay wedding cake "because of the kids". So he put in the mv kids having a cake fight to show that "it's just cake", there's nothing wrong with that.
And about the dogs: like I said, it's just cake... kids and pets don't care if it's a gay or straight cake. It won't hurt them.
That's why at the end there's a message saying that no children or animals were hurt while filming the MV... but I mean, this is obviously just my interpretation.

Also maybe Lou wrote kiwi think about it "I'm have your baby" Harry doesn't have a kid but Lou does ( kinda)
My theory: the song came about from rumors in the press about Harry getting someone pregnant (ie. Slinging mud at him). And then the food fight riffed off the slinging mud idea and had the one girl dressed like him as if she was that baby. Or not. But it’s the most sense I could make of this. Lol

i always thought it had to do with the film he was in, Dunkirk, which was a war movie. the music video is like a “war” between the kids with like the ammo being cakes and the one cupcake being thrown like a grenade? plus the music video and the film were both released in 2017. so i always thought that’s where the idea came from.

Please believe me everything doesn't have to be serious and deep, maybe just maybe Harry was saying with the video that is what Kiwi is, just fun. Everyone is told how hard it is to work with children and animals, his second solo MV to put out he works with both, and they have a blast. Harry always performs this song well live, he closed his tour shows with it, and I am sure others will have told the many stories. The best live performance has to be on the Late Late Show with James Corden, it is a must see to see performer Harry in action.

The music and the video have nothing in common xD I have no idea whats going on, but ... there are theories, involving his friend Louis Tomlinson ... and a woman Louis slept with and got pregnant ... non of it is confirmed, though ... if you want to learn more about it, just ask, but ... it is wild.

Also theories that Louis wrote the song for MITAM, was rejected for obvious reasons, wasn’t allowed to sing it solo for obvious reasons, so he gave it to Harry. It’s actually more Louis’ style as a songwriter. Louis did say he gave a song away.
People it's not a sexual song, please stop thinking this as well as believing that "he uses children and animals to portray it" because it's disrespectful to prejudge him in that way, and also misinterpret what he is trying to say. Learn to have reading comprehension to understand between the lines. Not everything has to be literal for you to get it. Harry isn't just a musical artist, he's also a lyricist so this song (and above all the video) has a deeper meaning and requires analysis. Anyway, you're right, it has to do with what you suggest although a little more different because it's not directly "about him", and the video too even if it doesn't seem like it at first glance and just looks like something nonsense fun.

You just HAVE to watch a live performance of this. Don’t try to make too much out of the lyrics because it was a private joke between Harry and the other creators of the song. There is nothing like a Harry Styles live performance so I recommend the Late Late Show and the last night of his tour, I think in LA.
