Worth noting that, in Lore anyway, Verg Avesta can't actually kill anyone. Even if Angra gets mortally wounded, when he transfers the damage to the opponent it will only make them feel like they're dying but it can't actually kill them.
Wish that his np make his enemies feel as worthless as him.

in FGO there's a nod to him corrupting the grail if you actually Grail Angra the grail icon at the top of his card will be a Black Grail

A bit addition would be that
1. He has no concious within grail. Hf3 qna says he act on instinct and it is also mentioned in vn.
So it was the curse itself that corrupt the grail and he himself as shown in FHA isnt that bad.
2. He is Beast candidate only if he is fused with grail and the entire stuff of sakura. As per hf3 qna booklet and only after he is developed. The grail amplifed the curse in this state that it can qualify as Beast with the convoluted condition.
Basically sakura-grail become vessel
And he able to possess it.
This is similar process of demon possession basically (which was a topic in FHA) and angra-grail would be akin to demon going to incarnating demon (demon trying to get flesh)
3. His dream in FHA is real as per FGO. As romani observes timeloop remnants in his interlude. This means FHA event did happen. So it was indeed a timeline that exist. End of Four night skill is good nod of this too.

@@Succubus_L0li unfortunately. Though he did appear in one of the Christmas event(I believe it's the Ereshkigal Underworld ones) as an enemy with 300k HP I think, which is rather fun to test some fun stuff against.

Just a fun fact, in SMT IF... Manga adaptation, Angra Mainyu becomes the protagonist's main demon ally, for despite being all the plagues of the world, he is still the father of the devas, and thus he wishes to save and protect them from the main antagonist trying to become a tyrant. In the game his signature move is giving all alies mana and stat boosts while inflicting every status effect on the enemy, making him an amazing support. Not much to do with anything, just funny how the most villanous posible demon is always treated like a good guy when adapted because humanity is just like that, wanting to see good in evil
Does technically make him one of the better fathers in the IF... timeline?
A few notes about his NP/Curse
1) The "Avesta" is the Zoroasterian Bible, and is a record of creation, and as "Angra"'s name was expelled from it, he is essentially written out of creation, which would explain his lack of a physical form of his own.
2) The name "Verg Avesta: Falsely Transcribed Creation", is reflected in how it functions, it doesn't actually deal damage, merely reflects the pain it causes, so it falsely recreates the damage without physically harming his foe.
So essentially since the Avesta is a record of creation thus due being written out of it he has no place in it (AKA physical form), and his NP being a false copy can't create anything (AKA cause physical damage) only reflect his own pain on others. This reflects on the mythological version of Angra being separate from Ahura Mazda and his creation, and choosing not to create anything good
Angra Mainyu is one if not my favorite servant simply thanks to FHA. it was such a good visual novel, the epitome of fate imo. i could on for days talking about how much i loved it. i love how his skill set and NP work in direct correspondence with his lore in FHA (even if it makes him basically unusable)
Also the fact his updated 3rd skill is called "End of the a Fourth Night" makes me tear up

It is kinda Ironic that he is the worst Servant in fate, as well as the deadliest. Given that he reflects all damage he takes with his NP(even if it is only a mental attack by lore) and multiplies it based on charge it has the highest potential damage out of any Servant as long as he survives the stasis.
Angra has to be one of the coolest servants in Fate, no I’m not biased. In all seriousness, loved the historical connections you drew between his real self and his Fate variant, as well as the recounting of his origin. Super cool stuff, what I’ve wanted out of Fate content for the longest time. Keep up the great work!
Some day we'll get that Hollow Ataraxia anime so more people can learn how good of a character he was. When my friends and I did out a tier list of our favorite characters from the VN, I was shocked he actually ended up collectively at #6 or #7 IIRC. He even outright mocks the very premise of HF's version of him as akin to an alien getting a human concept completely wrong in one of my favorite bits.
In ancient Mesoamerica, more specificaly the cultures that spoke Nahuatl like the Mexicas (Aztecs) had a deity who amongst his many roles was playing the role of being basically the Mesoamerican Angra Manyu or at least something similar to him. Who is this god you may ask? I'm talking about none other than the big brother of Chaldea's resident lucha libre Onee-san Quetzalcoatl, the one the only Tezcatlipoca.
Tezcatlipoca and his many alter egos represented the evils of humanity, I will be of course naming some of his names/alter egos:
Iztlacoliuhqui, also Ixquimili is the lord of sacrifices and disasters, as well cold and low temperatures; cold that doesn't just reffer to climate but is also metaphorical, the metaphorical coldness, indifference and blindess of humanity when it comes to life itself. It is worth mentioning that this alter ego is depicted having a white blindfold over his eyes.
Tepochtli is an eternally young man who is completely unaffected by time, and as the eternal young man he was important to the house of young warriors. An eternal young warrior that could spread discord and make humanity start wars amongst themselves.
Huey Xolotl is a turkey that seeds disputes and makes humanity fight and start wars amongst themselves, but is also the great bird that represents the narcissim of humanity, the loud and prideful turkey full of itself.
Tlacatecolotl is an owl man that spreads plagues and diseases; but is also the teacher of mages, fortune tellers and scammers, the owl man who taught these three types of people how to trick and steal from others.
Necoc Yaotl is a name that translates to "The enemy of both sides", name that reffers to how humanity is always trying to start trouble with one another.
And last but deffinetly not last, is one of if not *THE MOST IMPORTANT* alter ego/name of Tezcatlipoca, Yaotl. The name Yaotl quite literally translates to "Enemy", enemy that is none other than the one we can see everyday when we look at ourselves in a reflection, ourselves, the internal warrior inside everyone that represents all the evils of humanity, the darkside that humanity must always seek to try to overcome.
All of these might make you think that Tezcatlipoca is just a villain but funnily enough he is not actually evil unlike the Angry Mango from real Zoroastrianism.
One of the pillar concepts of *ALL* Mesoamerican comsmologies, regardless of how different each culture of Mesoamerica are, is *Duality*
And there is no bigger embodiment of duality than Tezcatlipoca.
Tezcatlipoca, while representanting all the evils of humanity, is also the *judge* of humanity, judge who always rewards and punishes people accordingly, even if said human currently being judged doesn't like how harshly he is being punished for something bad he did.
And remember the previously mentioned Iztlacoliuhqui/Ixquimili? The one that represents the coldness, indifference and blindess of humanity in regards to life? Turns out this same alter ego is not only *JUSTICE INCARNATE* but also represents that humanity always has the potential to see beyond their mortal eyes. Hell, some drawings of Tezcatlipoca like one that can be found in the Codex Borgia shows him having a white blindfold over his eyes, even when he is *NOT* acting under his alter ego Iztlacoliuhqui/Ixquimili.
And Tezcatlipoca, unlike the Angry Mango, is *HEAVILY* respected by all humans regardless of social status, more specificaly by rulers as I will explain down below.
Tezcatlipoca is the patron god of all royalty, for starters he is also the god of jaguars, animal that is the lord of all other animals, and as a symbol of power it's skin is worn by both mortals and gods alike, even Quetzalcoatl wears jaguar skin. The reason why jaguars are relevant to this topic is because thrones were made using jaguar skin, symbolicaly representing Tezcatlipoca.
Tezcatlipoca is also the deity in charge of crowning and dethroning rulers depending on their worthiness.
He was so respected by royalty that ,apperantly, during some part of their crowning ceremony they got butt ass naked and started verbally hyping up Tezcatlipoca as a *TRUE Giga Chad* while at the same time degrading themselves by calling themselves all sorts of bad stuff like being stupid, fat, pieces of shit and that Tezcatlipoca is maybe looking for someone else to take their place.
He was so respected by all humans, be it royalty, civilians, workers and everything in between, that they called themselves Tezcatlipoca's *slaves* and that this man owned *EVERYTHING in the heavens and the earth*
Overall, Tezcatlipoca is both feared and respected by humanity unlike the Angry Mango.
