I admit, after tons of research, I concluded that the canon Dahlia was too much of a cartoonish "evil for the sake of being evil" character, so I had to take some creative liberties when it comes to her thoughts in order to humanize her (which is why this video turned out to be more than 20mins, lmao). My video was bound to clash with the canon here and there, sorry in advance.
Also I wish I had more time to create extra sprites for Valerie, Mia and Terry xD

I always consider Dahlia to be ace attorney’s most tragic character as she has no redeemable qualities; no talents, the closest person was her sister that she constantly belittles, she chooses to follow her inner demons and lacks any kind of control (the most she ever had was her hair)
It’s really enthralling, there is every reason to hate her but instead I just feel sympathy for her despite the clarity that she is a lost cause

This... this is the real Dahlia Hawthorne. A broken girl, abused and neglected by everyone around her, absorbing all the wrong lessons until she turned out to be just as cruel as the people that hurt her in the first place. Acting out of desperation and fear for her own freedom, she resorted to murder after murder to cover her tracks, until all she had left was revenge.
Dahlia may be a monster, but she's only what Kurain's and the Fey Clan's culture made her.
    Brilliant work, Debastian!

I always hated Dahlia, with a burning passion. After watching this video, I would still say I do. But it really made me reconsider her character, more then any .lol ever has. (of any character, for that matter) When we see her as a child, we get to see her in a more simple, innocent state, referring to Morgan and Mr. Hawthorne as 'mommy and daddy' which already works wonders given her burning vendetta against them later on. Her philosophy on men I never even thought of. She grew up sheltered, around only her sisters, mother, and most importantly her father, which she always hated. It didn't help that after that she met Terry, a man she could easily manipulate. She started to view men as... pawns or at least people she hated with a burning passion. I was also very glad to see her interactions with Iris, it really showed that she could have been a way better person, and very deep down, she still cared a slight bit for her sister. The black psyche lock moment was also fantastic, and I never really considered her having them. Anyways, I don't want to ramble for too long about the writing. The quality as usual was great, the Terry CC was fine, (still way better then I can do) but the Mia CC was honestly fantastic. The choice in backgrounds was great, and drew from some games I didn't expect to see. If there was anything I could nitpick, it would be the music at some points, but that's a very small nitpick. In the end, it was amazing, I was glued to my seat the entire time, which is rare for a .lol this long, and honestly might be one of the best things I've seen made on .lol. Dahlia Hawthorne: One of the most memorable and despised villains of the franchise. A character who’s remembered for being a selfish, manipulative monster who only cared for herself and killed or attempted to kill everyone who stood in the way of her goals, whether it be money or freedom. She must’ve been a VERY difficult character to humanize considering the game only focused on her crimes and despicable nature. I find it so interesting that you interpret her motivation to be the one thing she never had: happiness. To be free from her horrible parents and live her life freely…even if people need to be used, stepped on, or both to do so, even if they are family. Great video.

I always felt like Dahlia was more of a tragic villain than a pure evil one. This video reinforces my beliefs and I see this as semi-canon. And I like the attention to detail about Iris’s involvement in the plan. Personally, I would’ve thought her part in the plan was to make sure no one came near Dusky Bridge, but oh well, I guess Dahlia wanted to betray Valerie from the start. Also, twenty-one minute video? Wow, that’s dedication.

Wild, man. Just f'ing wild. I love the inner monologue of Dahlia putting two and two together that Mia is her cousin, as well as all the other conversations being explored. Outstanding.
I saw nothing wrong with the liberties you took in that regard. In canon, we're only seeing a snippet of many characters' lives. It's not realistic or sustainable that the villains would constantly be in "mustache-twirling" mode 24/7 (except maybe Redd White). I thought you landed her everyday tone just right.
I had to do something similar when I wrote for Maggey. Her inner monologue can't realistically be a never-ending stream of hyper hopping sugar rush.
If I had one piece of constructive criticism, if it were me I would have left off the park scene with Dahlia and Iris. In her confession in 3-5, Iris only assumes that Dahlia figured out her true feelings for Phoenix, she never actually confessed them to her. ("I think... she must have noticed.) Like you said, something was bound to clash with canon sooner or later, and you more than landed the plane regardless.
    Top quality as always.

    • @debastiansebeste
      @debastiansebeste  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

Yeah the park scene is the one reason I wrote about the clashing of the canon. But I'll be honest, it wasn't because of a mistake - I knew that according to the game, Dahlia wanted to kill Phoenix secretly from Iris), but I wanted to show Iris expressing her full revolution towards her sister so we would be able to see Dahlia completely flabbergasted xD (for that I pledge guilty)

And so now we finally see things from her perspective, and finally we see the full painted picture. For as long as she could remember, Dahlia suffered. Whether it was to be used as a tool to take over the Fey Clan, to having neglectful parents that never showered her with love and affection. Always struggling to free herself from the hell she was put under. Always trying to gain an ounce of control in her life, (hence why she dyed her hair red) for a change. Only for the rug to be pulled under her time after time again, by the people she decided to place her faith in, being betrayed over and over. In the end she was always on her own. And in an attempt to free herself she took a chance and rolled the dice.
She knew it was wrong, but what choice did she really have? Maybe if someone had shown her there was another way, maybe if someone was there to take her away from her suffering she wouldn't have to be this way. But no. After stealing from her abusive father, the dominoes came falling one after one. Try as she might to salvage what little control she had, but it only made things worse. In the end her misdeeds caught up to her and she was brought down by the one person that represents everything Dahlia despises: Mia Fey. A person who in Dahlia's eyes was given everything and yet rejected it to forge her own path and control her own destiny. And now in spite of all her efforts to gain that bit of control over her life, she dies alone, forever seen as a monster.
And so this was the tragedy of Dahlia Hawthorne.
Excellent job! This was masterfully done, and spectacular story telling. You managed to make someone as Dahlia into a sympathetic tragic villain. And in spite of her misdeeds, maybe now people will see Dahlia in a different light. Her actions were inexcusable, but maybe if things were different, perhaps she wouldn't have came out the way she did.

There's one saying i made that i keep repeating myself about humans in that life and it gives me consciousness about what we truly are:
"You're not good because you're good nor are you bad because you're bad. You are yourself because you have a reason"
I don't like perfect evil and pure good, for me it's just a way to tell a story and to make whoever is watching/reading/hearing understand who's who. In real life i don't expect those kind of people but i do expect those actions.

  • @k.n2574
    @k.n2574 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +54

    So... Is that time again...
For me, one of the weak points in Trials & Tribulations is how they characterized Dahlia.
I know a lot of people like the "people can be evil just because" trope, but for me the trope only works if the character's past is never mentioned or it's just a "joke" character.
The problem with Dahlia is that she is not a "joke" character and the Fey family plot is the pilar of the entire trilogy.
Every time I replay T&Y, every time I think that Dahlia is a tragic character. For starters, she was included in the whole fiasco that is the Fey clan, she was the daughter of a relationship united by the search for power, not love.
Later, she suffered from the divorce between her parents. At one point in her life, her father decided that one of her twins would have to leave, and perhaps out of fear, she begged her father for Iris to be the one to abandon.
If all this were not enough for a girl who was at least 14 YEARS OLD, her father goes and hire a man with DISGUSTING tendencies to teach her in what is most likely PRIVATE lessons.
For me there are two options, Dahlia's plan was:
    A) Create the stage for people to investigate her family situation and get her out of there, but the shot really scares her and it ended with her slipping to the side of the bridge.
    Ora:
    B) She taking the diamond and then jumping to end everything.
I think there are some possibilities for the second option, because there is no way in the world that a 14 year old girl saw the height of the bridge to the river (one known to be the last place for a lot of people) and said "Oh yeah! I'll jump to the river and keep the diamond for myself! I'm sure I'll survive it."
Even for Ace Attorney standards, that's not posible.
For me the most interesting thing is that for six years, Dahlia was just another normal teenager, she didn't commit any crime, she just enjoyed life... Until Valerie decided to tell the truth.
For six years, she didn't had to think about her father, her mother, or the sad life she was throw into, she was so determined not to return, that her only way out was to shed blood... And once a person tastes blood, there is no turning back.
What was once freedom, the feeling of a new stage in her life, became an eternal struggle escaping from mistakes, from the wave of blood, from pain and suffering, an attempt to hide the past, running towards the freedom that she longed for and had already tasted.
Only to end up on a path of death, hatred, revenge... and stinging roses.

You painted Iris and Dahlia's father as a "parsimonious penny-pincher". In that context, he's an accessory to every crime the latter of the two girls committed. No penny-pinching, no crimes. Especially considering the fake kidnapping plot was basically Dahlia's way of forcing her bastard father to give up some money since the item that was to be the ransom would've netted quite a bit of money for Dahlia to live off of.

i think you might be my new favourite ace attorney channel honestly. i came for the sebastian theme and stayed for the excellent writing…
i love when people really look at dahlia beyond the surface level, she’s one of my favourite ace attorney antagonists for just how tragic her story is. if she had someone like sister bikini or maya like iris and pearl had, or if she had been able to escape and live alone for the rest of her life, she might never have resorted to such drastic and desperate measures. i love your interpretation of valerie and dusky bridge too. same with dahlia recognising mia, i know it would have spoiled the twist but i’ve always wished either of them recognised each other since they must have at least met as children. i wonder if dahlia would have been so resentful of mia if morgan had been different. mia had everything morgan wanted from her daughters, and she gave it up to become a lawyer… a d that conversation between them in prison was masterfully written. and all of the extra interactions between iris and dahlia are so good as well… dahlia’s resentment for being abandoned, iris’s willingness to still try to understand her sister… you wrote them really well. i feel like iris too often gets overlooked but you really did her justice. i kind of went into this video with shaky expectations because i feel like most people despise dahlia, but this is one of the best readings of her character i’ve seen in awhile. GOD i love how you wrote her. and the custom sprites and backgrounds and voice clips too! wonderful.

A little too much for my own mental comfort, honestly. I really, genuinely appreciate you not taking sides as to whether or not she is bad. Yes, she did horrible things, but were they justified? Were they done for justice, in her eyes? So much about her is absolutely enigmatic, but I love that you captured her thought process perfectly in this.
Around the halfway point, my jaw dropped at the thoughts she had. Thoughts that I genuinely share with her. By the time I was at the confrontation between Dahlia and Mia, I had to take a break because of how many statements I agreed with Dahlia on. There are a few things I'd quibble with here, but overall, you've done an excellent job overall. I think what too many people fail to realize about Dahlia, and what you've captured well, is that she's too trapped by her cynicism and fear of showing weakness to ever really be honest about her emotions, even to herself. And when she's doing a lot of her moustache twirling in canon, it's as much a front as her sugar-sweet facade. She's in front of two of the people she hates most in the world, desperately trying to prove that she's right, that her life meant something. Of course she's not going to reveal any softness or weakness or regret to Mia or Phoenix.
There is one bit that a lot of people get wrong imo. When Dahlia calls Iris a backstabber, Phoenix asks why whether it's because of the fake kidnapping, and she gives him the enigmatic "You just don't understand. You never will." It's natural to assume that it is about the kidnapping. But she already told him about that, as "Iris." There'd be no reason to play coy anymore. Therefore, the logical explanation is that the thing that she's actually angry at Iris for is for falling in love with Phoenix, betraying her by choosing him over her. She won't tell him, because that would a) implicate Iris in her crimes and b) reveal to phoenix the fact that Iris loved him. And he'll never understand, because she doesn't think iris will tell him. Dahlia definitely does care about Iris, as much as she wants to hide it (or else why, after all those unforgivable betrayals, when she had both the motive and opportunity in the sacred cavern, did Dahlia not end Iris's life?) For additional evidence, consider Dahlia's line when she reveals her cruel face in 3-1. "Feenie, what a joke you are [...] How can any woman rely on you for anything?" Knowing what we know after 3-5, this sounds a lot like her saying to him "my sister is a fool to believe in you. Else, the choice of the words "any woman" is strange, because Dahlia is usually very nnarrowly focused jiust on herself."
Anyway sorry for the ransom rant, thank you for showing the truth of my favorite character. (I always sort of hope that somehow, even if she's not able to escape being Dahlia Hawthorne, Dahlia's spirit might be able to eventually suffer less, even if that's only when she gets reunited with Iris, who clearly also still loves her, even if she does so less blindly than she might have done as a child. I just finished T&T and this really had me wish we got a closer look at how Iris felt those years after Dahlia's execution, her interactions with Godot and Misty as well as her meeting with her sister again 5 years later while trying to rescue Maya from from the cavern. Maybe a future video idea for you, I dunno...
Anyways, love the effort and hard you put into this. It really adds a lot more depth to her character on top of what we got to see in the game, really made her motive seem more human. Great work, really

SORRY FOR MY PREVIOUS COMMENT! I accidentally hit enter when I didn't finish it. WOOO a long video! I'll probably be commenting as I'm watching. Loved Dahlia's... "appearance" in the intro, lol.
I love the concept of her having a rocky relationship with basically everyone in her life. Her mother and father getting divorced was probably not something she could easily understand at the time. From this, she might have thought love was a weakness and you were bound to be hurt by it. So when Iris refused to cooperate with stealing the diamond, she immediately assumed it was because Iris did not care for her anymore. That may have been Dahlia's tipping point - being "betrayed" by your own twin sister. Also with Valerie; her personality is never truly delved into (she sort of just died in Ace Attorney ☠), and I think with her not being the ideal older sister makes a lot of sense.
OKAY WOW, that was a fast change of scene. It seems her way of thinking has changed - immediately picking up a knife after her identity is threatened. It makes sense, but the fact that she does not even try to negotiate and it is clearly a "do this or you'll die" situation implies that she has had experience when negotiation didn't work/when she only offered one choice or the other, and it worked 95% of the time-ish. Also, the lack of hesitation when she stabbed Valerie shows her emotional disconnection to death in itself (although this could just be because she knows about spirit mediums).
I'm curious how after the events of the first Dusky Bridge incident (the diamond one), Iris and Dahlia made up about it. Plus - Iris accepting the fact that Dahlia, more or less, was responsible for the death of 3 people? (Godot/Diego was not looking any better at the time, so it could be argued she quite literally put him to sleep for a while, making him useless - or "as good as dead")
"After all, there's one person I love more than anything in this world. And that's myself." Lmao, laughed at that, good one Dahlia!
Ooh, Iris threatening Dahlia if she ever hurt Phoenix. That's something interesting to think about - I feel like she would never have even suggested this if her sister's "bad influence" had not rubbed off on her.
BLACK PSYCHE LOCKS!! How come I never considered this possibility before? Absolutely genius - of COURSE Dahlia would have secrets to hide. And her regrets of not being able to grow up with Mia & Maya make a lot of sense. She's thought about changing herself to be a better person with the help of Iris. Amazing end to the video!! 11/10
"Like, how did you manage to have a tragic backstory and still make everybody hate you?" PORTSMAN SUMMED IT UP RIGHT THERE 😭. I think my actual answer to this is because (yes, this is cliché) she never learned to trust in both herself and others. And because of that, she decided become a serial killer was the perfect career option - bonus points for ruining basically everyone's life in the process! :)

Sure, perhaps canon painted here as a plain person who just likes to hurt people, but I reckon you gave her character a necessary new dimension. "Evil is not born, it is taught", you just portrayed that perfectly. To finish off, I LOVED the idea of Mia's magatama running out of energy just for revealing Dahlia's locks. Keep it up.

I liked how you let Mia assume that Dahlia would have been happier and more self-fulfilled growing up a Fey because even she at the time did not know the depths of her aunt's bitterness towards that side of the family. Indeed a really good in depth video of Dahlia however I am still unsure how Terry became her tutor because of how easily manipulated he was by Dahlia. I think he most likely taught Dahlia English or as the vid suggests he was hired very cheaply and could be a Low paying staff in Mr Hawthorne company who was given the chance to tutor his daughter and have some extra earnings
Another sad scenario is that Mr Hawthorne did not value Dahlia and wanted Terry, who is intellectually challenged, affect Dahlia school grades so he has a reason to send the remaining twin away

This whole video certainly helped me see Dalia in a way I've never looked at her before. Gotta say, humanizing one of the most evil written characters is a difficult thing to do, but as usual, your writing for this made this feel very natural. I wasn't expecting the black psy locks but they make so much sense.
I can totally see why you felt that the creative liberties may have been a bit more than what you would have preferred, but to me, you did here what you've always been good at doing. You shined a new perspective on an otherwise interpretive backstory within trials ans tribulations. The reason it felt natural and humanlike is because you wrote the steps of her becoming evil gradually. And it comes off realistic because evil isn't born overnight. I'd like to think that even the team at Capcom were having this idea in mind since her first crime wasn't murder, but was a fake kidnapping.
I think watching this really shows just how much her character was purposely crafted to tie in with everyone else in the main cast, and with that in mind, I find it interesting seeing the effect her actions had on the people. It's one thing when you know it, but it's another thing seeing it unfold. That's why I enjoy seeing your vids.

I wonder how Dahlia may have been written nowadays? I disagree with choices to often make villains more woobieish or 'leather-pantsed' in adapted media (Magnificent, Wicked, all those), but that's often in regards to justifying their actions, and also fandom liking to make them all soft and 'did nothing wrong.' (*Cough* Edgeworth *Cough*)
However, you pull it off perfectly with Dahlia. I'm not sure how making someone who has had a sad childhood as she, and was in a relationship with an adult at a young age would really be portrayed as irredeemably evil today. There's SO much one can play with that, and the game just make her as simply evil as a disney villain which I'm glad you alleviated a bit. (Hell, pretty sure even disney villains are ever more humanised and complex, just take a look at Judge Frollo XD)

Damn the black psyche locks! I knew something was off about her past.
I mean, how did she end up like this, the fact that she was a serial killer, not only that but even her twisted face during trials, she was way too shady during the game. You know the facade is hiding the monster beneath the mask. Yet, there wasn't any black psyche-locks until Kristoph Gavin.
I can't shake the idea that Phoenix, in the attempt to bury for good his memories with Dahlia, would ask Maya to channel Mia, and ask her once for all what does she know about her. Still, breaking these ones would be a miracle as we would need hard evidence about her past...
Update: I've rewatched the video, and it seems Mia is aware about the fact black psyche locks exists. Indeed, it's the first time she sees these locks, but it would mean that she knows the meaning behind them.

Damn, what a impresive video! I love a backstory you gave her, it really fells like serial killer type "backstory". But it gave me a question: Is Dahlia really a psychopat, or broken individual? Does she cares about her sister, or only about herself? If she only uses Iris, why would she allow Iris impersonating her to get her that necklace?
I think I answered these questions for myself. She grew up in a household with abusive father, her mother rejected her and her stepmother and stepsister didn't cared for her that much because she was "different". So she a coping mechanism that she's never going to show her real feelings and became emotionally cold, eventualy starting to hate everyone. Her sister Iris was the only person she tolerated and even though se probably hated her as well due to being jealous that she has way better family and is overall nicer person than her, deap in her hearth (black psyche lock), I think she cares about her somewhat. After all, you can't be 100% evil or good.
Damn, it's kinda difficult to express this through writing, especially because my opinion can change somewhat. I still love pure evil Dahlia, but it's really intresting to think about why she behaves this way. Anyway, what are your thoughts, if you gonna reply to this comment?

      Spoiler alert for my vid:
Her black psyche locks are actually because deep down she wished she and Iris had stayed with Mia and Maya in Kurain and grew up as family. Hence why her locks appeared when she said "I'm actually thankful I didn't grow up with you boring lot"

Like she's not completely gone, there is still a little good left in her that she hides, but she still chose her path of destruction. Instead of being pure evil, she's more of serial killer type of character in this interpretation - you just left to wonder what went wrong with her to shape her like this? Thank you both for making this interpretation, I already loved her but with added depth (although kinda, kinda headcannony) I love her as a villian even more! So thanks again!

Now the video made me curious if Phoenix's "Indefinite Loan" Magatama used to belong to Mia. After all, Maya was completely unaware about the Psyche Locks. The Magatama was a family heirloom so it makes sense that when Misty disappeared Mia inherited it and when Mia died Maya inherited it, who then "Loaned" it to Phoenix.
We know the Magatama's power lasts about a decade so to add headcanon on top of headcanon. So did Misty charge the Magatama before disappearing in 2002 and gave it to Mia, then in 2014 it ran out of juice, passed from Mia to Maya to Phoenix and in 2017 recharged again by Pearl. Do only Pearl and Misty have the power to charge Magatama? Something to explore in another video.

....I want this to come full circle.
Modern SoJ Phoenix Wright should break her locks several years later.
Realistically after dealing with her in Bridge to a Turnabout, He'd probably NEVER would want to even hear her name again but....man now that you've introduced her having Black Psyche locks and knowing how those affect the mental state of the person that has them if not properly handled, I really want to see someone break them.
So we can see Dahlia's true breakdown and to see that someone is truly able to understand her no matter how hard she wants to refuse it.
The way i see it hypothetically, her spirit will never truly fade until those locks are shattered.

    • @debastiansebeste
      @debastiansebeste  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Well, tbh I don't know how Phoenix would be able to break those psyche locks. After all (according to the lore I wrote for this vid), she got them because she refuses to accept that deep down she wished she had stayed in Kurain and grew up with Mia and Maya in a normal family.
In pretty much, Phoenix is sort of unrelated to this issue, so I believe only Mia would be able to break those locks. And instead, she decided to roast her to death in the end xD

I like this idea a lot too. Though I think one could argue that the brutal tear down Mia gave Dahlia is essential to her ever changing.
Dahlia avoids regret, sadness, and pain by doubling down on the idea that rejecting those things makes her strong, let’s her survive, lets her win when other people crumble, falter, and fail.
But what Mia and Phoenix do in that last segment, is show her that rejecting others and trying to live only for herself hasn’t made her strong at all. Instead of achieving the peace and freedom together with Iris she wanted at the start, all she got was constant deluge of fear of discovery, loneliness, and, ultimately, instead of escaping her father’s cruelty, she just ended up used and wasted as a tool for her mother’s cruelty instead.
They’re right that she can never be anything other than Dahlia Hawthorne, who can never win at anything. But then, what if she turned away from trying to win, and tried to find herself some peace instead?
I actually think Maya would be a good person to help with this. In your previous video, Maya pitied Dahlia, even while her cousin threatened her life, and hoped that she could be more than what Morgan had made her. Even in canon, Maya desires to, as Master, bury the old animosity between main and branch families. Dahlia is that animosity and it’s consequences personified. Wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing to do, to use her powers to give her cousin a chance to reconcile and heal that life denied them?

    I admit, I don't like Dahlia.
However, seeing this, it does change a lot of things and I do wish they explored Dahlia more at the end also, like how they tend to with a lot of the main culprits/villains.
This would've been an actual cool edition in the real game.
Edit: However, one flaw I have with this logic: It was Dahlia who convinced her father to leave Iris at the temple in the first place (I feel it was the only good/good choice Dahlia ever did in her life, without realising it).
And tbh, it shows Dahlia was a manipulator from the beginning as she said from when she was born and only cared for herself, so Iris being swapped with Dahlia wouldn't have made them switch roles.
I'd imagine Dahlia turning against and manipulating Bikini and Iris would be upset emotionally from her father (in other words, a much more worse scenario for Iris and maybe making her consider to follow in Dahlia's footsteps and/or even go to her and they start working together with no weak bonds.
On a side-note: Iris is still the most satisfying ending of the trilogy and it's such a shame a lot of that ending got completely forgotten, due to the Apollo Justice game (I feel was the downfall of the story sadly, bringing Phoenix back, when Shu Takumi didn't want to, but Capcom wanted to).
Still love the games, especially the Miles Investigation games (hope they get added to the Switch). :)

    • @debastiansebeste
      @debastiansebeste  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

See, that's the thing about Dahlia's choice. 1) she was less than 10 years old, you can't really tell that a 10 year old can manipulate and convince someone like Mr. Hawthorne so easily. Perhaps he wanted to send Iris away anyway.
But 2) in my headcanon (which could easily be canon if Takumi wasn't afraid to show Dahlia in a more sympathetic light), Dahlia initially sent Iris away to protect her, in a "stay there and I'll be the one to endure our father's bullshit until both of us can run away with his money" manner. So in my headcanon Dahlia knew what she was doing and was doing it just to protect Iris, but when the latter betrayed her on the Dusky Bridge incident, Dahlia got pissed and thought that even Iris had turned her back on her.

    • @DreadedGhoul575
      @DreadedGhoul575 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@debastiansebeste Yeah, considering what she was like in the story and what she said about her leaving her sister there and saying "Less children, more money to go around." She's not shown in a good light.
Still though, I can respect your perspective and I agree that it would've been more interesting to humanise her.
I mean, I did feel bad for Terry Fawkes being killed, since he came off as someone who wasn't mentally smart, but being a tutor and in love with a 14 year old?
Yeah, I can understand that perspective, since it's weird they just gloss over that, but it seems he had the mental state of a child and he didn't know any better (how he got the job being in that mental state on top makes zero sense lol).
      Still, love the video.

    15:09 - Ah, you're narcissist.
16:47 - I think, Iris would say by crying: "Please, don't touch him, better touch me!" But I saw, you did it for edginess.

Everyone's talking about Dahlia Hawthorne (don't get me wrong, this video is spectacular for adding points to Dahlia's character) but I'm over here talking about how much of a despicable woman Morgan Fey is. She wanted the perfect child with spiritual powers because hers was weak. All for the sake of being head of the Fey Clan. She never considered any of her children as human but as tools for her *OWN* purposes. When Hawthorne divorces her, "Take your worthless offspring with you then." is the most harshest thing she's ever said. Like I said, she never cared about her children. She wants to use them for her own gain, and if they fail, she tosses them away without hesitation.
She's literally the reason Dahlia's life became worse when she lived with her Father, hence why Dahlia became the monster she is in order to enjoy freedom she had for 6 years.
Great analysis overall. Kinda hope one day that you do a video on Morgan Fey. It would be interesting to know more about her
