    To see Babyface pay homage to Jimmy and Jam and Terry Lewis and they were instrumental to giving Laface the break is incredible.

    Those were the days , today’s music isn’t even close to the eighties hit makers of yesterday. It’s great the studio has been turned into learning center, but it will never be like the days when one hit after another was pumping out of Flyte time Studios. Music in those days was incredible. Today , not so. 😞

    That so called sound was the digital keyboard synthenzier 🎹 invented in the 80's. I'm 56 years old, the only music you heard in the 80's were from only a few people, those who can afford that expensive studio equipment. So many artist were left out because of barriers to entry. So much talent left untapped. A keyboard synthenzier was up to $3000 back in the 80's which was alot of money. Today I'm able to afford the equipment for a lot less. Launching my own 80's theme recording studio. Look for great things

    This is great ! Historically. Where are they going to get musicians? I hope the younger generations wake up to playing real instruments instead of musical noise programming.

    • @999a0s
      @999a0s 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      a lot of us started with sampling because all it requires is a computer and an internet connection. but we find our way back to instruments eventually. what's difficult is that a musical education is expensive and time consuming, and late-stage capitalism has robbed us of both music education in our schools, and the time to pursue that education outside of school / work. kids in the hood, or even lower-middle-class kids can't afford a keyboard, guitar, or drum set.

      @@999a0s It's a matter of saving up or doing your best to get that instrument.Trust me my friend, the rewards are well worth it. Not just in making music, which is wonderful, but the joy branches out into many unexpected areas of your life also!

    And just think, Prince fired them from the Time !!! SMH

    • @nancypatricia511
      @nancypatricia511 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But do you ask why? Prince told them that they could not produce while they were a part of The Time. They could have resigned from The Time, but they were not ready to put their full weight on their own four feet. They thought they could transition from The Time to their own thing. In the end, they had to stand on their own four feet. Prince was their daddy. You ate from his table and followed his rules or go find your own way. That is what they did. Prince had to go his own way when he no longer wanted to live under Warner’s rules. Just like it was the right time for Jimmy and Terry, it was also the right time for Prince.
