Hey Vatalij! Thanks for the tip! I just configured my Z9 for HSS with the Flashpoint R2ProN transmitter and R2 Speedlight set to i-TTL. Can't wait to try it out for portraits and at receptions with large aperture shots.

Hi - yours is one the first useful vid I have seen on the subject of using the Z9 with HSS. My question is have you tried to find the top end of the shutter speed you can shoot at with HSS and a capable external strobe -- like 1/32,000th with Freeze Flash settings on my Profoto. Sure unless you are trying to freeze bullets or items falling in water these settings are crazy -- but just how far can one go with a shutterless sensor that scans at 1/64,000th?
Not sure why. However, I suggest that you still use the manual mode. Thats one of the reasons to shoot HHS so that you can manually adjust your power output.
This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much! I'm having banding issues with my Z9 when I use HSS. I triple checked and I definitely have the Nikon version of the X2T. I changed all of the settings mentioned in the video, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Have you had this issue or had to resolve it?
@@TouchLifeStudio Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I was at 1/1600 and ISO 320 with the AD200 Pro at full power. This is literally my first day ever playing with OCF so I'm sure I am totally off base!
@@harveycombarizagarcia5288 that’s how it works in Nikon mirrorless. I believe it is the same way in Canon. Sony and Fuji is slightly different. When you turn the flash off (bolt in circle) you will see changes in exposure when changing setting. Advantage of that it allows you to focus in dark conditions, just need to manually regulate the output. Hope it didn’t confuse you more. Best of luck.
The only systems that allow you to see the ambient light are Sony and Fuji. For all other systems you have to turn off the attached remote in order to see the ambient change then turn the transmitter back on. It's super annoying that not all brands allow it.

Thank you, very useful! Unfortunately 1/250 does not work for me on AD400Pro as it produces blak horizontal line on the top of the image. It looks like Sync does not work. BUT if I set it to 1/200s FS everything looks perfect. When shooting with D4s both 1/250s and 1/250s setrtings work okay!?
Have you tried updating the AD400? When using strobes to freeze action, if you set to 1/200 and still can extend your HHS settings, it is probably fine.
I think you should read the Manual again. Z9 Manual | e1 Stated: Flash sync speed is set to 1/250 or 1/200 s. With compatible flash units, auto FP high-speed sync will automatically be enabled at shutter speeds faster than 1/250 or 1/200 s. In modes P and A, auto FP high-speed sync will be activated if the actual shutter speed is faster than 1/250 or 1/200 s. If the flash supports auto FP high-speed sync, the camera can select shutter speeds as fast as 1/8000 s. In modes S and M, the user can select shutter speeds as fast as 1/8000 s when using flash units that support auto FP high-speed sync.
To fix this, stated here Auto FP High-Speed Sync Depending on the shutter speed, horizontal lines may appear in pictures taken using auto FP high-speed sync when [1/250 s (Auto FP)] or [1/200 s (Auto FP)] is selected. This effect can be mitigated by: choosing a slower shutter speed or adjusting flash output.
Thanks for the vid. 3 questions. 1-You can't use that flash without the trigger/transmitter? 2- I thought the z 9 had a High-Speed Sync of 400? = thought I heard another Vloger say it. Maybe another camera review I seen. Enjoy your new camera. Does the camera get an accurate focus on the eye or subject in really low light situations?
Thank you for your questions ted ted. I’ll do my best to answer those. 1. Godox AD200 flash unit needs a trigger (transmitter) if you need just to use these only. If it use another flash, AD200 can be set (optically) to receive other flashes signals and can be triggered. 2. HSS is a function of a flash as long as camera supports shutter speed over 1/250 Auto FP (in case of Nikon) 3. Z9 has a great AF in low light situations. At some point I plan to do a video on Star mode of Z9 (for low light). Hope this helps.

Well.. a few thoughts. Make sure you activate flash ON function Z9. I don’t use SB-900, so I never used it with HSS. Stated:
Flash sync speed is set to 1/250 or 1/200 s.

1/250 for modes P and A
1/200 for modes S and M
To fix this, stated here
Auto FP High-Speed Sync
Depending on the shutter speed, horizontal lines may appear in pictures taken using auto FP high-speed sync when [1/250 s (Auto FP)] or [1/200 s (Auto FP)] is selected. This effect can be mitigated by:
choosing a slower shutter speed or
adjusting flash output.

Hello, good morning, my name is Marcelo, I am a photographer and I have a Nikon Z6, with the Godox X1TN trigger and the recently acquired X3, my Nikon worked perfectly with the X1TN until I updated the camera's firmware and it stopped working, even my SB910 It stopped working in TTL mode, I have updated everything, I followed the advice of many on the forums and I can't get it to work, I just bought the X3 and the same thing happens to me, the hot shoe on my camera works because the SB910 works on all modes except in TTL, please I have been trying to solve this for two years, any advice. Thank you
Very good question. Haven’t happen to me. I suggest emailing Godox and asking what specific firmware of Nikon camera your triggers supposed to work. I agree, it shouldn’t even be an issue when updating firmware.
@@TouchLifeStudio thanks for your answer, yes I did contact them and update the firmware in my trigger and nothing, now I just got the new X3 and is not working, maybe was the zapata but my sb910 works in all mode but not in TTL mode is wired. Thank you so much anyway
OK, question ~ say I just have the Z9 and the SB-900. I have the Z9 set on 1/250 FB and the flash set at TTL-FB but the LCD doesn't calibrate. I want the SS set at 1/1000 and f/3.2 but the screen is still dark. It must be 'user error'. Any suggestions? The SB-900 should do HS sync.
Well.. a few thoughts. Make sure you activate flash ON function Z9. I don’t use SB-900, so I never used it with HSS. But if the flash is capable of HSS, check if needs a FW update as it may or may not have the same sync signal protocol. I pretty much retired my Nikon flashes and old DSLR triggers and transitioned to Godox.
@@TouchLifeStudio Thanks, I bet that's it but it might be due for an upgrade. Thanks Again!
@@TouchLifeStudio You forgot to mention d10 - View mode (photo Lv). It needs to be set on 'Adjust for ease of viewing'. If it's on 'Show effects of settings', you won't see anything but blackness because it's showing the effects of the settings.
I am getting flash sync bending with Auto FP 250 at the top of my image at 1/250s using godox xpro & x2t triggers with my ad200 pro & v860ii flashes on my Z8. I updated xpro to 1.7, updated x2t to 1.2 & it stopped working with Z8 however it was still working on z6ii, don't have the right cable to update ad200pro so that's pending but I can't find cause & solution of this problem. A solution would be highly appreciable.🙏
Hey, did you find solution to this problem, I have the same problem.
It's distracting having you on the screen and trying to watch the insert steps of setting up the Z9 sync flash.
I just think you are easily distracted.
