"Falling asleep reading the 50 series manuals..." Right there with you! Over the last few years have finally gotten a few of them, a 2950, 4450 and the baby a 650. Thanks in no small part to you and your video's I've been teaching myself to work on them. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and putting together these videos.

Hydraulic’s use to be simple way back in the day, now days it’s like working on a circuit board with spool valves, load sensing, and to put on top of it all the electronics to control everything. Special tools, computer hardware and software, simple man like me hasn’t a chance trying to fix the new stuff. I would much rather work on the super M than anything they sell now days. Had a neighbor by New Richland back in the 60’s that bled green but had a Super MTA wide front in the machine shed that looked like a brand new one. Would have loved to owned it.

      Yes.
Atleast we have came far enough that the electronics can tell you what is wrong, but still need dealer help or laptop to fix it, everything needs to be calibrated..

I’ve been waiting to see Shane Holst tractor updates!!! Very cool to see! Can’t wait to see the 8640 engine overhaul!

I will try to get better footage of the 8640 it's hard because most days I'm just trying to play catch-up let alone setting up cameras. I might just set the camera up for his and just let it record couple hour blocks and then find time to edit the film

@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 Jon, no worries. I understand how difficult it is to find time to film and edit. Even if you just do a no edit “what we found” video would be interesting. Will you be using genuine JD parts in the rebuild or aftermarket? A few years ago I got Shane a quote for a Clevite and FP Diesel rebuild kit for the 8640. The parts were pretty reasonable! Cheers.

We have had real good luck with endurance (reliance) except we use JD gaskets.

Never celebrate too early with my 48 , she has always been a problem child!🥺 Thanks for good through all of it! I definitely appreciate it Jon! The 8640 will definitely, well hopefully be a lot straight forward fix and done?🤞🙏

Yes, engines other than a 4 week delay at the machine shop usually pretty straight forward

Funny how what Deere used to market the two cylinders as the most reliable and simple tractor you would ever own. Boy they weren't kidding. My cousin works for a large dealership near Omaha as a technician. He really liked the 50 series when they came out. We had a 4450 power shift front assist. I put a lot of time on the clock, chopping silage, zone tilling, hauling manure and moldboard plowing for alfalfa seedings.

I love the repair videos as well as the crop ones ! Being a small farmer I try and repair as much as my own stuff as possible, I agree with the over engineering , I'm surprised you went with that new Massey with you being such a good JD mechanic ,look how much money you could save , you have a big advantage over some other farmers with your knowledge. I wish they made a 150hp Farmall M , I'd have about 3 of them and be set.

      Thanks.
The Massie was just too good of a deal to pass up. At the time I bought it for the price I paid versus what other ones were going for at dealers I got this one for about half price

I would love to see a big Hollywood Blockbuster version of Atlas Shrugged but sticking to the roots of the book not some woke Hollywood interpretation
Go watch the movie 1984, and then drive down the road and see the Billboards telling you to get vaccinated and it is very creepy

    Hi ,Jon!
Can you tell me,please, what would be a decent pressure for a pressure washer,in order to do a better job when washing dirty tractors and implements?
    Electric or gas engine?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

    • @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754
      @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I had gas for more mobile around farm, now I have electric for shop.
A smaller washer with hot water will do a better job than a high pressure big volume cold water.
I have a 3500 psi 4gpm with hot water, it makes fast work of a dirty tractor
