Mr. Craig "Okay, this is where I have to step in" Williams. Dude, dropped some mad knowledge.
Yeah, I am with Craig, the queue ends where the preshow starts, like the stretching room for Haunted Mansion.
The smell of the water in Pirates is one of those scent memories that bring be back to my childhood. Pirates is one of my favorite queue.
SpookySteph that’s me with E.T at Universal
Charles' description of what makes the Pirates queue so important is 100% spot on. It sets the atmosphere for the ride itself.
Dohers Nah, have you been on Disneyland’s? As was noted in the video, it has no queue and it’s still magical.
GoofmanCA yeah I have, honestly does make a difference for me. Though I have admittedly done the WDW one a lot more times.
Charles usually nails it, this was no exception.
Dohers Guess we’ll have to agree to disagree. (FWIW, DLR is my “home” park.)
GoofmanCA And it’s a million times better than WDW
So happy Craig and Ryno have joined!
Expedition Everest has an amazing queue! It tells a great story leading up to the ride and the detail is amazing.
24:23 seeing everyone's face @ Charles' fanboy moment of the smell of water was hilarious
To Ryno's point about Everest. The Himalayas actually would be freezing cold not hot like Florida. So it would be a good excuse to add more fans/air conditioning.
Craig is correct! The Haunted Mansion attraction begins once you enter the stretching room. Just listen to the Ghost Host in the stretching room. "OUR TOUR BEGINS HERE IN THIS GALLERY". Like Craig tried to explain, there should not be a line when you get out of the stretching room. That is poor crowd management. The difference between HM and Tower of Terror, is that the boiler room is intended to be a queue.
Charles is amazing. Amazing edition to the team. Craig, Ryno, Charles, and Steve should have their own segment on the channel!
I love the DIS Unplugged crew so much! They put in so much effort to make us Disney nerds day better❤️😂 I appreciate it so much especially considering I only go to Disney World once a year. This helps me get that Disney Magic even when I’m hundreds of miles away✨ Thank you so much😁
Marcus Wilson totally agree with this! I’m in the same boat
We are totally in agreement with you we come from the uk and can only get to wdw every other year- dis unplugged keep us going we love them all xx
I personally think that The Seas With Nemo and Friends queue is extremely underrated and well put together. It is very simple, yet very effective with the dark underwater deep sea feel!
Austin Audio this is very true. They got the details down to the handrails being rusty and misshaped
I love all the back and forth discussion in this video! For me, it makes it engaging and entertaining to watch. (It felt a little more like a Tuesday WDW show with this number of people involved. 😄) And, I must thank you all for having this type of discussion and NOT talking over each other! 😉 #IHateTheView
I'm very surprised Star Tours is not on here. Its got animatronics, R2dD2 and C-3Po, and a bunch of other cool things that you can just look at and not get bored. Also, I would've mentioned Dinosaur as well. I love how it feels like you're going through a natural history museum, you watch the video, and then you enter the somewhat dangerous looking time machine section
Ross Tanenbaum There is A LOT to the Dinosaur que! Even when it’s a walk-through, it’s a lot to walk-through!
On our first trip, the Star Tours queue just really blew me away! I don't know why, we had been there several days at that point. But even now 10 years later, I have that memory of just being in that queue and thinking, "This is just absolutely amazing. No other theme park in the world does queues like this!"
Trust me, growing up going to an amusement park with almost NO shade, NOTHING to look at while in line (and no fast passes), almost every Disney queue is awesome for me, hehe.
The only possible exception is it's a small world at Disneyland.
Connor Loewy even that might be more exciting than the queues at Adventureland USA in Altoona!😜
True dat
Connor Loewy there’s the animal bushes and the outside of the ride looks very interesting
Yes, but very little shade or theming.
Pandora diagon alley and hogsmeade are just an incredible start to 'land' themed places to come. Can't wait for star wars and future projects to come. The need for mish mash areas will always be there but these icons are incredible too
Craig is dropping some serious knowledge this episode!!! Love it
Haunted Mansion opened in 1969 not the 50's and it always had a stretch room because you need a way to get the people underground - hence the elevator. It was such and iconic part of the ride that in 71 when it opened in Florida they kept that part even though there was no need for it. For that reason I am with Craig he ride starts there - when you get let out of the stretch room you should be walking right onto your buggy - it's only as the day goes on that the dune buggies get backed up
I think you guys missed Little Mermaid. In my opinion the queue is almost better then the ride itself. Expedition Everest's queue could use a little update/prop swap out, but overall I think it's a great experience while you are waiting to ride (it's a good edu-tainment opportunity too). Tower of Terror easily has the best queue on property - hands down.
An attraction queue that easily gets overlooked is the Space Mountain queue (primarily due to the long lines). That queue is absolutely phenomenal from walking in and looking out the "port holes" into deep space to walking into the Star Port for the first time an realizing that you are inside the architecture and can make out the stars in the sky (and sometimes the rockets too!).
The DisNerdz definitely not. Space Mountain is just one long line with some bad games to distract kids. Then you get to the second part where it’s back and forth lines. It’s a really bad experience.
Totally agree that the Space Mountain queue is great. I especially love the soundtrack. Listen to it all the time at work!
Tower of terror is my absolute favorite queue! The old creepy music along with the theming is just so cool. If they ever changed the WDW Tower of Terror to Guardians I would be just devastated.
I'm a huge guardians fan. But the theming of tower of terror blows it out of the water in every way for me.
Agree with Craig- I see the stretching room as part of the Haunted Mansion attraction- not queue. Cool topic
The queue for Pirates of the Caribbean always makes me feel sentimental. I was born in Cuba and El Morro was one of my favorite places to go because of its history and beauty. So walking into the ride and seeing such the Morro inspired architecture is one of the best parts of the ride for me.
I like the queue for the frozen ride. Super immersive!!
Really appreciated being allowed to do the queue for The Tower of Terror without doing the ride! Not able to do the thrill rides due to health issues and wish they would allow “queue walkthroughs only” on more rides. I agree with Pete, however, and. Don’t normally stand in line and wait for rides without FastPass. 😁
Nancia Breske that’s awesome to know ... my mom has severe vertigo and can’t do a lot of the rides but always wants to see the inside of the themed ones, I’ll have to look into this when we go in August!
charles was a great addition to the team. Adds a lot to discussion. That and his waistcoats.
I love y’all’s enthusiasm for entering Pirates-I feel the same way!
On my last trip, my family had no fast passes for either Pandora ride, so we arrived at the park one hour prior to rope drop to secure our walk-on place in line. We were totally giving ourselves a pat on the back after making it onto both rides with minimal wait, but I was disappointed not to see the Flight of Passage queue. Downside of walking right onto that ride.
Hollywood Tower of Terror basement line area is creepy as all get out - perfect. And, I feel the Stretching Room is an integrated part of the Overall Haunted Mansion experience.
I absolutely agree, that keeping the illusion of being transported somewhere else is the most important factor for a theme park attraction. The indoor/outdoor point that Ryno makes is true.
I loved the Peter Pan queue! We've always fast passed it and last year my son was enthralled when we went in the regular line during emh
I would add Mine Train, Midway Mania and Winnie the Pooh to the list.
For me, Haunted Mansion starts in the que. Reading the headstones is part of the experience because it introduces you the ghosts you're going to meet inside.
The stretching room is part of the attraction, just like the Twilight Zone video is part of the attraction on the Tower. You're right Craig! =) There are two queues on both attractions.
Although not on the list as it is now defunct, I really enjoyed the queue for The Great Movie Ride. Some classic movie trailers, theater décor, movie props. Just really helped set the mood.
Thank you Pete, for using the word "nauseated" correctly. Subscribed for this alone.
Another interesting panel discussion. Very enjoyable! Thank you!
"How about this for a rule: If you can still smell a stranger, you're in a queue." LOL Charles!
My Top Queues:
Flights of Passage
Expedition Everest
Star Tours
Haunted Mansion
Dinosaur should be on this list. It sets up the ride and makes that ride great. It even connects after the ride with the dinosaur video of the dinosaur you brought back.
I thought it said "Top 6 Best Walt Disney World Queens" at first.
I agree with Charles about Pirates. One of the reasons we ride it multiple times is because the queue is so good and it does cool you off in the process.
We were at Disney last week and I kept my head on a swivel looking for you guys 😁
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this topic to come up for awhile now. Can’t wait for the worst next week.
My kind of top 6! Got to do the worst queues as well!
This is a great articlulate group. I usually try to wait until the end to comment because I always find myself yelling, "Amen!" at more than one point during the video. But you guys opened with a discussion on ToT. I can't handle the ride. (Welcome to the joys of getting old! Lol) But I will wait with my family every single time on this ride and then take the chicken exit because I always feel that this queue is an attraction all by itself!
Knew I'd have to come back and add a comment. Ryno, I love your assessment on the difference between PP and EE....one interacts with you while the other you have to interact with it!
Personally, I think the queue for Jungle Cruise is great- not because it's particularly interesting or anything, but because I love when the cast members go on the PA and make amusing announcements!!
"If you can still smell strangers, you are still in the queue." That's a good one Charles.
I have never been through the whole queue of Flight of Passage. That will be something neat to see someday when not rope dropping or fast passing.
Cast members at the Tower of Terror are amazing as well!!! Nice work fellas!
I would also argue that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad's queue is pretty immersive in a way, especially with the interactive additions to it more recently. The dynamite feature is so fun!
Star Tours: Air Conditioned completely indoors, fantastic life-size animatronics, tons of little easter eggs (Star Wars locations on departure screen), totally immersive!
I adore and enjoy and love the queques at the parks. This is four years old. You should do another updated favorite quques after Guardian opens up.
A month ago my wife and I visited the Animal Kingdom for the first time since Pandora opened, and we got there about 30 minutes before the park opened. We made a beeline for Flight of Passage like everyone else, and I was a little disappointed to learn that Disney does not open up the lab section of that queue first thing in the morning. I knew that stuff was there, and I was looking forward to seeing it in person. However, we bypassed that room and went straight into the line right before the pre-show room.
I was similarly disappointed when I did the same thing in January. Our entire family went to Disney the previous summer, but my wife was pregnant at the time and unable to go on thrill rides at all. I scheduled fast passes for FOP this last trip, but also wanted to do rope drop with her so her first experience would be the full queue, as I felt it really added to the experience when I went through it last June. She still loved the ride, however, and getting to experience it twice in one morning was awesome. Its still the best thrill attraction on the planet, even without the full queue.
We did something similar! I managed to get us FPs for the afternoon, but we still wanted to get there for rope drop. It was interesting to find out that the pre-show was different each time we did it. We think it's because they're trying to synchronize each room so that the actual attraction rooms are all running at the same time.
Me too. Woke up really early to get there an hour before rope drop on an extra magic hours morning. Walked right onto the ride, but missed the queue. Already over an hour wait by the time I got off the ride.
I agree with Craig about Haunted Mansion, the stretching room is part of the attraction. Also I walked through the Peter Pan queue for the first time ever during MNSSHP last year and I thought it was really great! I've always fast passed that ride but I really enjoyed the interactive stuff in the queue and the artwork details. Finally Ryno is crazy about Everest queue, it is so good! The details and research are so amazing and it sets up the ride nicely even though the ride stands on its own without it.
Star Tours?? It’s awesome!
Agree with Craig on the mansion. stretching room starts the attraction.
Where tower you still have a huge que after the preshow.
What about the muppetvision queue
I will say the Flight of Passage queue on my first ride felt pretty intense (through FastPass).
Is that a new vest Charles? Nice.
Really enjoyed the level of debate in this episode! :D
I was at Disney World in 2003, 2011, 2014, and 2016. I agree with all of the choices but haven't been to Animal Kingdom since 2014. I think it's safe to say the Que ends as you enter the ride/seat. But to help break up the monotony of waiting, you have a que with some theme and light interaction. Then a short preshow before the second que or "rider positioning que" these lines can take 60-180 min at busy times so if you hit the preshow at 2/3 of the way through the que, you get a glimpse and a bit of visual and interactive pick me up. Like, ok it was worth this wait now, I'm almost there.
Even though the Haunted Mansion queue area is a great themed walk through....it gets miserable in the looping line part. People get really aggressive and horrible in there. One year a guy holding his kid literally shoved my mother out of the way to cut in line. The claustrophobic atmosphere during the time you’re waiting makes people all crazy towards the front of the line
I LOVED THIS EPISODE! please do another one!!!
This was a fun episode. You guys left totally off Star Tours and Under the Sea/The Little Mermaid, though! I'd put either of those above Everest's queue in a heartbeat.
Honorable mentions would be Space Mountain, Dumbo, Jungle Cruise, Toy Story Mania! and maybe to a lesser extent even Frozen Ever After and Gran Fiesta Tour.
Ryno is so right about Everest! Glad that Pete stepped in and helped him with the Haunted Mansion example.
Back when the Back lot tour existed they had the cool queue with the live action show going on.
I completely agree about the mummy. There's so much of a story there that goes unnoticed such as the filming aspect. No one realizes the intern in the video is the one warning you to leave. I wish people would appreciate the story more as it hardens to a lot of classic universal ride plots of being on set.
But if we're going to bring up universal queues, ET is a joy and has a more enjoyable queue and shorter wait time than Peter Pan for a similar experience.
No test Track mentioned in this discussion. My kids loved looking at the cars and then designing their cars.
How about Frozen Ever After? Love this queue area, feels like you're walking through Arrendelle.
Okay have you all not ridden haunted mansion in the past 5 years? There is a terrible bottleneck that happens right at the start when the wait is anything past 30 minutes. It’s this huge shuffling and moving where families have to hold hands to stay together just to avoid being cut so many times. It’s stressful and ruins the queue for me. Tell me I’m not the only one who sees this?
Shenanigram S totally not alone! This a horrible issue and is very anxiety inducing. I know I'm supposed to be spooked by this ride but that's not the way to do it! I wonder why it's like this now. I remember it being smoother as a kid
IMO when discussing a queue. It should be before the Fp line converges with the standby line. I want to know if I’m going to miss something by getting a FP. If I have to pick between two attractions for a FP with approximately the same wait time, then I need to know which one will keep my kids entertained while we wait so I can then choose the FP for the other. Haunted mansion Stretching room should be the start and the “queue” in question should be everything before that.
My youngest kid has elevator anxiety and the whole stretching room of Haunted Mansion is a no-go for her. I am always the parent who opts out of that pre-show to do the short-cut with her (it’s not themed- just basically walking around the exit and straight into the narrowing part of the queue) and I will say that I’m with Craig because it feels like I’m skipping not only a very enjoyable experience, but also part of the ride itself.
I'm with you, Pete! If I have to wait more than 15 minutes, I don't need to go on it!
With Pirates and the water smell...water rides in Disney are treated with bromine and not chlorine.
The nursery scene and the darling house are great additions to the que but the nursery scene got on my nerves so much, I jumped out of line to admire the art I saw earlier.
Idk if they play it on The Haunted Mansion, but, I thought of a GREAT song for the queue. "Happy Times" by Bob Crosby. Listen closely to it, and you'll hear what I mean.
I love Peter Pan's Flight queue. It pulls you into the Darling home and after you are on the adventure! The queue sets you up for the ride. The ride without it is, well, lacking.
Nutta Butta I’ve never done the ride with the que, but I can see that. It’s necessary.
I haven't seen the new one but is it weird to go through the house, exit to get on the ship and go right back in the house?
yes it is a bit weird to go out up the ramp but its a short trip and then you are off. it would be nice if they could put a wall to continue the theming just on the small section of ramp that you board from. still i think I would prefer to ride with the line experience. my daughter and I went on Peter Pan within the first hour of park opening and the line was only 20 minutes.
My top 6 are (in no particular order): Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, 7 Dwarves Mine Train, Expedition Everest, Haunted Mansion, Avatar. Also love Pirates, Toy Story Mania and Soarin'(the music they play is so uplifting to my soul).
I was really surprised you guys didn’t mention on Tower of terror all of the references to twilight zone while you’re walk through the queue.
Some of the images for Everest I think were kali river rapids queue images but they are really simaler
At the end of the year you guys need to do an ultimate smackdown "who themes it best" Universal vs Disney and have everyone take sides. That would be fun/hilarious to watch.
Here's something to consider: going by the logic that in HM that everything up to the doombuggy is the queue, does that mean in ROTR everything up to the First Order Fleet Transport (Rey/BB-8, transport, star destroyer hangar, prison cell) is the queue?
Totally Agree with Charles about Pirates!
Thanks guys!!! Love the best and worst!!
The Pirates of the Caribbean queue is interesting to me. Im reminded of home. Puerto Rico has its own Castillo del Morro, which I’ve visited many times. So I find it curious to observe this through the Disney Lens
Nicely done, all - thanx!
You missed Star Tours and Toy Story Mania. I've never been in the Peter Pan queue (we always use fast pass for this ride), but I agree with the rest of your list.
Charles sold me on the pirates queue wow spot on
Without the leadup to any of the Haunted Mansion rides in any of the Disney parks around the world, they'd just be like normal ghost train rides that you find at a lot of amusement parks and funfairs.
Where's star tours? Its increbibly cool and immersive.
You guys should do an episode where you talk about your favorite and least favorite character mascots/actors in the park.
I can't believe Toy Story Mania didn't make your list. I think it's superior to POTC. I was amazed the first time I went through it, and it was fun to reminisce about the toys I had as a child that were represented in the queue. It's a shame they took out Potato Head though.
Agreed!! I think Toy Story Mania, Enchanted Tales with Belle, and Frozen are much better than Pirates of the Caribbean!
I can't believe Space Mountain isn't on this. I could vibe out in there for hours.
Andrew Burnes it’s on the worst queues lol
@@aphoticphoton know, I watched it right after this video. Lol. At least everyone except Steve knew it was wrong.
I've been on all of these except Haunted Mansion and I can't even comment on the queues because I've only ever used fast pass for each. Lol
I love Peter Pan's Flight and I don't mind the queue. What I don't like is that you go through the bedroom twice.
Please redo this one when Star Wars opens
The best queue is the one I can skip with a fast pass😉
I’d love to see a video where you all share your best memories/experiences at WDW, maybe best and worst memories?
I had gone through Peter Pans Flight queue before the remodel and didnt ride for several years and then rode it again, not knowing that it was remodeled. I started walking through and I was like holy sh*t now it isnt boring as crap lol
I totally get what the guys are saying about not wanting to be in a line for an hour, but I BET they don't notice the wait time nearly so much when they have friends or family visiting the area and going with them rather than hopping on a ride after a day of filming, because when the friends or family are there it gives you someone to talk to about where you are, what you just experienced, studying the details those friends have never seen and seeing it through their eyes... or for Pete, going on Small World with his mom and 45 minutes feeling like 15 because of all the memories
Craig is correct Haunted Mansion attraction starts when you enter the door. Hard to say it but Pete is wrong.
How about Splash Mountain?
that queue on a hot day is miserable.
The queue really isn't that good, the ride is the best ever though imo
