We should see if Pete can stay seven nights at all star sports by himself and film it himself like survivorman or man vs wild Disney Edition. Each day chronicling as it gets worse and worse. the struggles of finding food(food court) and avoiding the heat(using the pool) until he is rescued(check out)
And we should have Jeremy Clarkson as his roommate for the giggles! Pete wins my respect by actually stopping to discuss some of the choices and deciding to see for himself why some of these hotels are rated so low.
Seriously - I love the idea of a periodic vlog of Pete, John and Kevin doing Disney "on a budget". It would be entertaining as heck. Looking forward to Kevin's dining review at Cosmic Ray's followed by Pete's review of the "Club Level" at All Star Sports.
YES!!!!!! I would love to see a video of Pete staying at the AllStar Sports. From Check-in to a breakfast and Dinner. Shopping and hanging out by the pool.Taking a bus to DSprings and the Parks, maybe even taking in a movie by the pool one night. The whole experience in one video. Oh and this all has to be done during a Brazilian tour groups trip. I will tell you that these resorts are not worth the $159 to $189 (sometimes even higher) price they are asking/getting. We stayed here back when it was $69 to $129 this I'm ok with but not these Moderate prices.
you guys should do a video about staying at the very lowest rate room at disney world and the experience of "doing disney" at the absolute bottom price! could be very interesting for disney fans on a budget
I just got back from Pop Century in October. Loved it! We had a newly refurbished room and it was perfect. I totally agree about the computer pool. It's weirdly warm, so it feels like you're taking a bath with a bunch of strangers.
Hippy Dippy Pool is where it's at! :-) I agree, we stayed at Pop a couple years ago and it was great. The kids LOVED the larger than life characters. We're staying at Riverside next month which my wife and I will love, but I kind of wonder if it will be "Disney" enough for the kids.
My first ever holiday to Orlando/Disney World in 2015 had a bad side when it comes to the resort. I stayed at All Star Sports and it was awful. It wasn't the food or the style rooms that was the issue, it was the uncontrollable problems from the school groups/cheerleading groups who stayed the same week as me. They were knocking on my door late at night, throwing food at our window and using inappropriate language outside our room. I was having that issue from night 1, so luckily the resort moved us to Art of Animation so I could enjoy the rest of my holiday. I'm very grateful for how the staff dealt with it 👍🏻
The Port Orleans pool is amazing and heaps of fun irl! Pictures don't really do it justice. I especially loved how the King Triton Serpent sprawls throughout the whole pool area! Storm along bay pool looks beautiful though, definitely more of a relaxing and chill kind of look!!!
I don’t hate the all stars at all. We go hard at the parks from open to close. We stay for a week and just enjoy the parks. We enjoy the price point and the perks, without all the fuss.
i lived in Orlando so I usually stay with friends when I am back, but I agree with you, I am not going to Disney for the pool, I'm going for the parks. That being said All Star sports is the worst themed of the All Stars, so I get why people don't like it there. I live in Atlanta now and it still bugs me when people pick hotels here for the spa bath or some such.
Exactly. I barely remember what my room looked like when we stayed at All Star Movies last year because we spent so much time in the parks. My family has always been open to close park hopper people. We just needed a clean bed and shower and access to Disney transportation.
I think that the pool hopper idea is a great add-on not just for pass holders but just as a general package. It could increase individual guest revenue and improve someone's stay at WDW.
We stayed one night at All Star Sports 10 years ago and could not wait to move to Port Orleans. Food was awful in the food court and the pool had a dirt ring around it. Have not gone back since. We are nowDVC members and watch all of your shows faithfully. Thank you all for doing what you do.
As I recall, Cibola ("sih-bohla") is a legendary city dating back to Conquistador days. It's the same one featured in the anime series "Cities of Gold" (which was 太陽の子エステバン in Japanese, "Child of the Sun, Estaban"), and I believe the character Trash in King's "The Stand" is always going off about it, too.
Lol. Were at Boardwalk/Polynesian 11/25 to 12/2. I don't care if it's 50 degrees at night, I'm throwing those kids in the pool. They're from the north - they can handle it.
We've gone every Christmastime for years now, and the weather is usually pretty swimable. It may rain some days in December, but I guess we've had luck at the Coronado, which is where we generally stay.
Years ago, my family stayed at the All Star resort with the family suites. Most recently we stayed at the Art of Animation which is also considered a "Value" resort. I think Sean is right in that it depends on what your goals are on your trip. We are power parkers. We get up at the crack of dawn and stay in the parks until close. We go to the deluxe resorts to eat at some of the outstanding restaurants, but it depends on how a family chooses to vacation. If they like to hang around the resort, the Values might not be the right choice. If the goal is to spend every waking hour in the parks, you might not get your money's worth at a moderate or a deluxe.
All-Star Movies is one of our absolute favorite Resorts although in Art of Animation opened we stayed there quite a few times but we just went back to All-Star Movies and really enjoyed ourselves. The food is okay but it's just the Eye Candy of all the statues
I love All Stars and Pop Century. I’ve done quite a few of the bigger resorts but All Stars has a special place in my heart. Aswell as Pop Century. We stayed there when it first opened. And All Stars was always where we would stay when I was little. The theming is cute, and fun.
It is really hard to pools at values, moderates, and deluxe. They are three different categories for a reason. You get what you pay for. it would be a better list by category.
Not ENTIRELY true. As a Moderate resort, Coronado Springs (I'm starting to sound like a DVC salesperson) is a great value for the money. You get that pool, for one thing. For another, you get direct buses -- no stopping at other places on the way, you get to go straight to the parks. It's huge, so there are always rooms available. Also, because it's a convention hotel, there is a spa -- I think the only non-Deluxe resort to have one? It's close in price to the Values and the rooms are so much nicer. It's about half the price of staying at the Contemporary.
Just to correct Sean, most visitors from the UK wouldn’t be staying for a month at Disney. More likely to be two weeks max. It’s very expensive for UK visitors to travel all that way & stay in a Disney hotel.
Kinda funny that you mentioned that. I've talked to British tourists on Disney based vacation sites and a LOT of them say the exchange rate of the US Dollar and British Pound plus their familiarity with the Disney brand are why they chose to vacation in Orlando instead of Barcelona or Milan for example. Even the Spaniards say it's a good deal compared with other places in Western Europe! The Spanish visit in GIGANTIC numbers. Heck, you thought the Brazilian crowds were bad? You ain't seen nuthin yet! Wait til the Spanish get their kids out of school for vacation and decide to skip Eurodisney!
largol33t1 Americans always overvalue the dollar, which is part of why the US economy even floats. The American economy is a joke, led by a fat orange clown.
As a former lifeguard (not at Disney) and a Mom - Storm-Along Bay is actually a difficult pool to monitor - lots of curves/nooks and crannies. Watch your kids here ! This is not a ding against the lifeguards at WDW - they are awesome and well-trained. Just be extra diligent at this pool.
The pirate pool at the Caribbean Beach is excellent, and should be given strong consideration for any top 5 list. Of course it's no Stormalong Bay, (what is?), but it's a close call for theming between it and the Lava Pool at the Polynesian. And the slide has red light-green light. Over the years I've stayed at a lot of Disney resorts. Our kid was 6-years old when we went to Disney for the first time as our own family unit, and All-Star Movies for a 6-year old staying in the Toy Story buildings is fantastic! My wife and I....well, the rooms were smaller than we were used to, the beds were snugger, but it was manageable, and the delight our kid had for the atmosphere there was worth it. At age 8, the Pirate Pool at the Caribbean Beach Resort is just amazing (Pirates! Slide! Forts! Cannons!). We've visited friends who were at Music several times, and have always thought the ambiance at Movies is better, but that Music is nice as values go. Never stayed at Sports, but when we've visited people there, it's usually been noisy and crowded, with teens and tour groups on the loose. Of the 3 All-Star Resorts, most people I know would rather upgrade to Pop Century, given the choice (or upgrade to moderate, deluxe or stay off-property), but other than room size, most would be willing to stay again at Movies or Music; I really can't find anyone who'd choose to stay again at Sports. Pop Century is easily the best of the Values (I just can't consider AoA a value with the pricing on most of the suites). The theming for the bowling pin pool area is a lot of fun, but if you're going there with single digit age kids, or even preteens, request the Lady & the Tramp rooms, as the kids will appreciate that theming more than the other buildings.
I have to say, as someone who has only stayed moderate, (POR, CBR) and deluxe, (GF, AKL) i prefer the moderate resorts for the pools. I love the option of a quiet pool that is most often empty. Love you guys. Thanks for all the great info.
So have you tried the cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds? It is a really huge area. So you would have to decide either to rent a golf cart or use the resort buses to get around the campgrounds. They restrict the use of automobiles to entering or exiting the campgrounds.
I'll tell you why I think All-Star Sports gets the lowest rating: because Sports is probably the least-interesting, least-Disney theme possible. Just my guess, as I've never stayed at a value resort (although I certainly would, but All-Star Sports is the last one I would choose).
I agree to an extent... I think if they took the All-Star Sports and themed it with sports-centric classic Disney cartoons (think Goofy in a football uniform) it would feel WAY more Disney than just footballs and stuff with just some mickey brochures in the lobby, ya know?
I agree. One of the bonuses to the value resorts (especially if you have young children) are the giant characters outside of the buildings. The first time we took my baby brother he was sleeping when we got to the hotel but woke up as we got to our building, he saw the giant buzz and lost his mind. But at sports you just have spots things.
I agree JKL, Sports? I want a Disney themed place. Seems like most of these hotels are not Disney Themed. I think Art of Animation is the one I would choose. Maybe Movies.
Love your guys' Best-Worst videos! One thing I think that might make them better would be to alternate back & forth when doing the countdowns. Like do both #5s, then both #4s and so forth.
I've been staying at the Yacht and Beach since I was a baby and if you have the money to spend it's worth every penny! Now that I'm an adult I love the restaurants, luxury shops, and theming but as a kid it was also the perfect location! When I was too little to spend all day at the parks we would come back mid day, spend some time at the amazing pool and chill and then walk right over to Epcot for dinner.
We stayed in a renovated room in Coronado Springs and the slide at the pool is really cool. The renovated room was nice and the pool was really nice. They do have the red/green light at the top of the slide.
We stayed at Coronado Springs especially for the pool--my daughter picked it out for that reason, and we spent most of our mid-week down day in the big pool. Great place. It has a nice, long slide that is mostly hidden a bit back from the pool; you enter it up by the right side of the pyramid. The resort has three smaller pools as well, geared more to adults--I noticed the conventioneers mostly tended to hang out around the smaller pools while families with kids went for the Lost City of Cibola.
As a 22 year old University graduate who LOVES Disney I can't imagine staying at a Disney Resort that was not an All-Star resort. University was expensive and there would be no way I could justify staying at a moderate or deluxe resort. You can not beat the prices. We love our extra magic hours, magic bands, and advance dining and fastpass reservations, but we dont love it enough to spend $250+ a night. I would recommend the All-Stars to anyone, families, couples, solo trips. My boyfriend and I love the All-Star resorts, they are perfect for us. They are always clean and the cast members are amazing. We are looking forward to our trip to Sports this August!! :)
The contemporary pool is actually not the original pool from the 70s. The original one was a rectangle that people used to do laps in all the time. It was redone in the early-mid 90s. That being said I still don’t think it’s anything special, but it’s an upgrade from the original. The circle pool down by the lake is from the 70s though.
I love the guitar pool at Pop Century because I'm a big music person. So, swimming in a guitar pool in front of a giant jukebox is pretty awesome for me.
We stayed at all stars music twice and sports once nothing wrong with them at the end of the day you only at the hotel to sleep so we are happy with them and will be there next June as well
Sandra Whitham. I recommend renting DVC villas in Deluxe resorts, rather than Value hotels. I once got a room at animal kingdom lodge for only 25 bucks more than at the cheapest all star. It was actually cheaper than all star sports and movies, I think. Only music beat it by said amount. That's an amazing deal, IMO
and we got hotel + QS dining plan 14 day park pass + flights for £3500 for 2 people now you who live in usa can only buy maximum of 4 day park pass or annual pass so as we live uk disney ( europe) sell tickets for 2 week pass as we tend to go on holiday for 2 weeks as you might only go for like 4/5 days holidays
Sandra Whitham. I don't live in the US, I live in Costa Rica. Maybe because our travel agents suck, the way I mentioned is the most economical way for me to travel. But hot damn, I didn't know you guys got such amazing deals
I always remember having a good time at the Home Run Hotel and the Grand Slam Pool was always fun. Once they put the grit on the bases so you couldn’t slide off into the pool, that was when I said it was lame.
i NEED pete to vlog himself at the all star sports pls lol im in the camp of i have the money to stay at moderate or deluxe resorts on most of my visits. but i am the type of disney person that will go to AM magic hours and stay until the last possible minute at the parks, specially if theres extra magic hrs at night too lol. so i truly just see a value resort as being the best option for me bc i do feel for me personally, it'd be a waste to be at a resort that i won't even really be in except for sleeping lol but again, that's just me. i do however only stay at POP and/or AOA.
We live in Destin, FL and have annual passes. We go once a month or every 2 months so we use the hotels every time we go. We have stayed at All Star Sports and hated it. We stayed at All Star Music hated it less, and stayed at All Star Music and hated it about the same as the other two. Pop Century is the ONLY value resort we will stay at. It’s not amazing, but we get the perks and when three rooms are in high demand we will stay there, since it runs about $99-160.00 a Night with our pass discount. We loved the Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs. We even had a pardon our dust Disney pin waiting for us in the room at Coronado Springs. It was actually super cute. The rice bowls were good in the food court as well. I think the difference in the value/moderate hotels are basically how you get treated there by the cast members and especially the bus drivers. Also he less you pay for a room, the further away your bus pickup area is from each park and Disney Springs. They treat people like cattle at the value ones and the rooms are not as clean as the moderates. So we have made it a point to NOT stay at any All Star locations. Every bad experience we have had at Disney has always been at an All Star resort. Cornonado Springs, Port Orleans, and The Caribbean Beach hotels were great! We Would stay in the expensive hotels, but we go so often we wood rather spend the money on restaurants and other things when we go. If we went once a year or every 6 months we would definitely pick the Contemporary or The Polynesian.
And the Beach Club/Yacht Club also each have a quiet pool (most of the time isn't quiet lol) and a hot tub. Stormalong Bay is absolutely fantastic! And I do think they have changed the waterslide problem too.
Just wanted to mention that Contemporary pool is not the original from 71. It used to be just one big square pool so even more boring however back in those days it was considered nice because of the size and views. Looking up at the Contemporary structure was much more extraordinary than it is today. Plus with the lake and the beach it was even nicer than the Poly. My mother chose the Contemporary every year mainly because of the pool and that she could do laps in it. As a 70s kid before all these bells and whistles of slides etc I thought it was a great pool just because of its size. We never used that random kiddies pool which was always useless. And Pete we did not stay out of the damn lakes lol The lake was packed in those days.
Daisy Cocoa Hi no I have not actually. I haven't been since 2015 so not sure that is a new problem. Any questions you have about Contemporary let me know. I stayed there every year since 1972 all the way until I was 18 then stayed there at least 10 times with my own kids. I actually like the wings. You can hear the boats more than the tower which is relaxing. Long walk back to your room though after a long day at the park.
I sent you guys an email as well. I'm in Canada, and my last 4 visits to Disney we stayed at an All Star resort. We spent all day in one of the parks pretty much, and got a car for the few days we went off site to see other parts of Florida and visit Universal. The hotel was pretty much just a place to sleep. I'd rather spend my cash on the sites than for the upgraded room. All we did was sleep at our hotel, grab a lite breakfast in the food court and head out for the day. Having said that, our next visit may be to a moderate only because my Son and I will still spend all day at the parks, but my partner is more about relaxing at the hotel a bit more. My previous visits did not break the bank though, even with plane tickets, US currency exchange, staying at the budget resorts and buying the food package was quite affordable. We ate like kings and tried restaurants all over the park.
The one thing you all failed to notice about the 5 worst pools is that none have zero entry. This is a huge thing of you have a little one. We stayed at the Boardwalk recently and hated the pool for that reason.
wow. I am glad Pete mentioned people emailing them about positive experiences at all stars. I had a nice experience with all star movies and recently at the moderate POR. A friend of mine went to all star movies this year and plans on going back in a couple years. I think the all stars get a bad rap. I enjoyed my experience at both all star movies and port orleans equally but would probably not choose an all star again simply because I like the aesthetic of port orleans. my kids love the big characters all over the hotel but I like to relax after I get back from the park. My husband would like to try fort wilderness which also looks nice, I don't care for the look of most deluxes but wilderness lodge and fort wilderness look like they would be worth the extra money. In the end it just depends on what kind of vacation you want and what you think is worth spending your money on.
I think you need to update this topic! Storm a-long is not our favorite. Very spread out and chaotic for families with small children, just my opinion. Copper Creek pool at Wilderness Lodge is my absolute favorite! Not large but beautiful and fun little slide. The clown pool at BWV is super fun and Saratoga Spriongs has 2 amazing pools with super fun slides!! I agree with the Polynesian pool simply for the view of the castle and zero entry is always a must for all ages. Next time I would love to see Pete try every slide at the Disney resorts!!
Sean hit the nail on the head, Sports is perfect for people who are not planning on using extra amenities of the resorts. I stay at the all star resorts every time i visit since all of my time is either at the parks or disney springs.
What Steve is suggesting actually just came in place for the new top tier annual passes at Disneyland Paris, these allow you to swim at any hotel pool, even if you’re not staying at a Disney hotel.
On most of my trips to Disney as a kid I would stay at the All-Star resorts, which is why I think certain people love them so much, is because they're really memorable for kids. We have old photographs of us with the giant Woody and Dalmatian statues and so they're very nostalgic for me. On the flip side I think people hate them for the exact reason pointed out: the tour groups can kind of ruin it. To be perfectly honest though, I've never had a problem staying there. I think the food is actually really good and the staff, the layout, the pools, are all great as well. I've stayed at Caribbean Beach, the Polynesian, the Art of Animation, and I can't really say there's a huge difference in quality for what you're paying for.
We've stayed at lots of Disney resorts... We really liked All Star Music and the pools. We stayed at Pop, I would stay closer to the food court next time... Long walks back to the room after all day walking... Our fav, Ft. Wilderness. 2nd Grand Floridian. We stayed at Music 2 or 3 times. I agree about Sports that its probably a crowd control prob.
I quite like All Star Music and Movies (never stayed at Sports) but I think that's for two reasons - one is the nostalgia factor, and the other is price. We always stayed at Music and Movies before Pop Century was around when I was a kid so I have fond memories of them both. As for the price, as an adult from the UK making a solo visit next year it's around £3000 (or $3900) for 2 weeks at WDW staying in Pop Century with dining plan, tickets etc. It's only really viable for me personally to do this at a value resort (but not AoA, which seems much more expensive) and I would have stayed at one of the All Stars but I believe Pop was an extra £150-200, so it just made sense to me to do that (granted, I'll admit I prefer the experience of Pop to All Stars). The only other hotel I've tried in the past was Caribbean Beach in fairness, and I have no doubt I'd be blown away by some of the other moderate/deluxe resorts, but I like Music and Movies because they make it actually possible for me to visit WDW! Having said all of that, I only use the hotel for a room to sleep and sometimes for the food court. I can totally understand why if you were having a more relaxed vacation with much more time pool-side and at the hotel you would probably want to consider a moderate/deluxe.
When my family and i took a trip to Disney in 2004, we stayed at All Star Sports, granted I was 8, but still I think it wasn't that bad. Maybe it's just the nostalgia of me being in Florida, for Disney and having a great time. I don't know, but I would love to stay at All Star Music if I went again, since I would like to try all of the "value" resorts. I know that really they are all the same besides theming but, I'd love to try it. I miss Disney!
You should totally stay there and review it. It would be a great idea to do a budget video. Stay at All Stars and set a low food budget per day, and show how you can do Disney at all budgets.
Plus, consider the pool hours. I think value pools close at 10pm which means if you stay in the parks for fireworks, you never swim. Boardwalk pool I think is open till 11pm.
We are DVC members, but before we were members we always stayed at the All Stars. We've stayed at all 3 and Movies is our favorite, followed by Music, and then Sports. That order is only because of theming and subject matter. We only use the hotel for sleeping since we are in the parks from rope drop to close. But, we enjoyed the food courts in all 3 and we mainly stayed there for the price point. I still recommend people to stay in the All Stars.
Are they keeping the computer pool until it becomes trendy retro? I'd love to see videos of parents explaining what those computer disks are to their kids.
I originally planned to stay at all star sports but honestly after watching your videos and seeing photos and reviews, I chose to spend the extra £160 it cost for Coronado springs
I stayed at All Star Movies when I went on my latest Disney trip and it wasn’t so BAD, I think theming is also a big influence cause when I went I stayed in the Herby the Lovebug section and I’ve never even heard of it until then so that kinda sucked. All Star also has so many rooms that you could be like a 5-10 minute walk from the main building where the bus transportation and food court is so that’s another problem.
I just found this channel and I am wondering where it has been my whole life!! I’m going to Disney in May and I hope I run into one of them! Quick question: are y’all DVC members?
Everytime I've stayed on the park I stayed at All Stars Music. While that one apprently isn't too bad I spend most of my time in the themed parks anyway. I will try to get in the hotel pools once or twice but I'm not really at the hotels a ton.
After years of nightmares. They finally got rid of the clown head at the boardwalk. It has been replaced by a cutout with Mickey & friends. Although I am sad to see it go, it was needed.
I once stayed at All Star Sports. I had a very dated room and I once waited an HOUR for a bus from the Magic Kingdom. That's why I won't stay there ever again. However, the Grand Slam pool wasn't terrible. It was usually a quiet pool with a cool baseball theme, which is my favorite sport. Never went in the other pool, and then the food court got the job done for breakfast. I just had muffins and bananas. No complaints. I bet compared to other Disney value resorts it's just the weakest of them all, but I'm sure they are all the same for the most part.
When I was younger my family and I used to go to the different resorts to use their pools all the time. It sucks they are so strict about it now but I understand they don’t want the pools to be overrun by people not staying at the resorts.
I think these results are off base since more people voting have been to value/moderate vs deluxe resorts. Boardwalk is my favorite because my kids can go on the slide while I relax in the hot tub and I can still see them! Maybe when they are older I'll change my mind but at the younger age this pool is awesome
We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. The pool could use some renovations. The slide was old looking and was very bumpy. It has so much potential but needs some work.
I’ve stayed at Coronado Springs, animal kingdom villas, all star sports and Pop Century. I would sleep outside if I could be at Disney. I don’t mind any of the pools. I can’t complain and I loved the food in the food court at All Stars Sports. The best time I ever had at Disney was when we stayed at All Stars Sports. We’re going at the end of August back to Pop.
I will jump on the bandwagon of following Pete check-in to check-out at All Star Sports!! i am also in agreement with Steve in reference to an extra charge on the annual pass for the ability to pool jump, whether you are a guest or not
Our first trip to Disney. We were a young couple, no kids and not much money.... and we stayed at All Star Sports Resort. It is REALLY THAT BAD!!!!!😂😂😂. The pools were horrible. The foods not great, and the bus service has long waits. That being said, we still made wonderful memories on that trip that I wouldn't trade for anything💕 We also made a lot of jokes at the resort's expense, while staying there.😂🤣🤣
I like All Star Movies. I have stayed at Wilderness Lodge and for the money, it was worth the savings. No complaints. With that being said, you can pool hop between All Stars as long as you stay at an All Star resort.
We are staying at the Movies Resort again this year too. I just can't see spending 600 more to stay at a moderate ( just to sleep in a room). I'd rather spend 600 on entertainment with my kids. To me, the pool was fine (we used them both ). I enjoyed being close to the music resort (their pool was fine too), we only ate breakfast their and it was okay and we found the bus to be better then when I stayed at Wilderness Lodge. To stay at Wilderness our vacation would have been another 1500 dollars.
I have a question about the pools: are there any that are "zero-entry," as in a person who's not a strong swimmer can wade in from a zero-depth and gradually walk out to greater depths? This is an important consideration for some, and it might be for my party next time I visit. The only Disney pools I've experienced are the Polynesian pool circa 2000, and the Port Orleans French Quarter (a few years back). Both very enjoyable! BTW, this was a GREAT subject for a Best/Worst! Nice work, all!
For those impatient people: Best: Doubloon Lagoon (Port Orleans-French Quarter) Lost City of Chavalla (Coronado Springs) Big Blue Pool (Art of Animation) Lava Pool (Polynesian Village) Stormalong Bay (Yacht & Beach Club) Worst: Main Pool (Contemporary) Luna Park Pool (BoardWalk) Surfboard Bay Pool (All-Star Sports) Computer Pool (Pop Century) Grand Slam Pool (All-Star Sports)
I stayed at all star Sports for a week in 2014, it was still Disney magical because of the great cast members. Seriously every CM there made us feel special and seemed happy to work there. The sports theme is lame and dated but it was still Disney to me. I'm excited to see Pete's review.
My senior hs trip was to Disney and 700 of us stayed at the all star. And all 700 of us took over those pools for 4 nights. Complete crowd control issue for that hotel.
They are relentless with scanning your magic ban at Beach Club. The person there asked me if I was staying here. I said no I'm just trying to cut through to get to EPCOT. They told me I there's no cut through and that they still needed to scan my band. So I let them scan my band then we stood there until I asked again how do I get to EPCOT from here? Then they gave me directions to EPCOT.
We ALWAYS stay at the Beach Club Villas when we go to Disney; easily the best pool and it’s location is fantastic. I will say, when I️ was around 10 I️ had a very large man land on top of me just as I️ had come through the slide, which sounds like a similar situation as to what happened with you. This man being much larger than a 10 yr old girl went through the slide much more quickly. I️ don’t think they’ve changed how they run the slide (I️ was there fairly recently), but I️ think they would definitely benefit from updating their signaling
Ok, as someone who flies out twice a year to stay at these resorts, I would be furious if Steves idea actually happened and annual passholders could park hop pools. As great as I think Steve is, I do not want to be competing with the residents of Orlando for my hotels pool. So I know Pete, who I usually always agree with, thinks thats a great idea. I can tell you if that happened, I would stop staying at Disney resorts. Just had to get that out there lol.
my daughter's and I stayed at all star sport 2 years ago. I thought it was fine. food in food court that we had was good and the pools were ok. Only thing we did not like was the size of the rooms are to small.
I agree that the pool is smaller than some but ignore the fact that the clown is creepy because he is haha. The slide is very fun to slide on. Plus I'm pretty bias here because the resort is designed after Atlantic City NJ my home state that's why I love the boardwalk.
I was a cheerleader that went to the resort but never stayed. There are 3 competitions throughout the year: February/March, Late April, and early May. It is a must or a popular thing to stay at the all star sports resort. For guests that stay during those times, teams are all around the ground area practicing early in the morning. Sometimes late at night, the teams want to go to the pool. It does get loud easily. Cheerleading Worlds is probably the worst time which is late April.
But yes, expanding on Pete's future visit to the value resorts, I think that as the DIS, as a non-Disney affiliated information center, that it would be prudent to review the hôtels - especially for the people who still want Disney but cant quite afford the deluxe/moderates
We should see if Pete can stay seven nights at all star sports by himself and film it himself like survivorman or man vs wild Disney Edition. Each day chronicling as it gets worse and worse. the struggles of finding food(food court) and avoiding the heat(using the pool) until he is rescued(check out)
LMAO, i'd imagine that's what it would be like
Dumshark omg I laughed out loud 😂
And we should have Jeremy Clarkson as his roommate for the giggles! Pete wins my respect by actually stopping to discuss some of the choices and deciding to see for himself why some of these hotels are rated so low.
Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is a two
hour long vlog of Pete at All Star Sports. 🙏🏻
nicole lott that would be hilarious
Seriously - I love the idea of a periodic vlog of Pete, John and Kevin doing Disney "on a budget". It would be entertaining as heck. Looking forward to Kevin's dining review at Cosmic Ray's followed by Pete's review of the "Club Level" at All Star Sports.
WE NEED THIS TO HAPPEN
Yess make it happen!
nicole lott, LOL!
David Thacker this has my vote.
Count me in; do a 3 day stay at all 3 resorts
you guys should do a video about staying at the very lowest rate room at disney world and the experience of "doing disney" at the absolute bottom price! could be very interesting for disney fans on a budget
omg, the incoming Pete vlog at ASS is gonna be so much funnnnnnnn bahahahahah
The public has spoken. Pete, away with you to All star sports! We need to see this. Thankyou.
I’m just happy to be here
I think that the pool hopper idea is a great add-on not just for pass holders but just as a general package.
I worked at the boardwalk and when i was on a shift that ended at 12:30 that clown always creeped me out. Otherwise i think the pool is nice though!
We get to stay at the beach club starting dec. 2nd. I don’t care if a cold front some how sneaks into central fla. I’m riding that slide🤙
Lol. Were at Boardwalk/Polynesian 11/25 to 12/2. I don't care if it's 50 degrees at night, I'm throwing those kids in the pool. They're from the north - they can handle it.
In all of those places the pools are heated. So that's good.
We've gone every Christmastime for years now, and the weather is usually pretty swimable. It may rain some days in December, but I guess we've had luck at the Coronado, which is where we generally stay.
Eric Neumann good luck getting out!
Staying at the Beach Club this weekend. Timely video. Looking forward to trying the pool here.
the sand bottom in the pool was a complete surprise to my 54 yr old feet. After a long day at the parks that sand bottom was DIVINE. Enjoy your trip
You said it all.
Plus with school this wouldn't possible outside summer anyway
Im from the uk and we stayed for three weeks
I agree it's so blah I think they should turn all 3 into the movie concept
Yes Pete! Vlog your experience at the resort, that would be amazing !
Yay! I love best & worst! Especially when it comes to the resorts! Love you guys and all your honesty!
BRING BACK 7 IN 7🗣
As a 22 year old University graduate who LOVES Disney I can't imagine staying at a Disney Resort that was not an All-Star resort.
Great job thanks for sharing
16:58 "It's essentially camping! " Lol
25 bucks total, not per night.
marinmarinhola yes but in in uk and get hotel tickets and flights deal off travel agents as we get disney tickets for 14 nights for price for 7
and we got hotel + QS dining plan 14 day park pass + flights for £3500 for 2 people
now you who live in usa can only buy maximum of 4 day park pass or annual pass
so as we live uk disney ( europe) sell tickets for 2 week pass as we tend to go on holiday for 2 weeks as you might only go for like 4/5 days holidays
Pete could document his entire stay at All-Star Sports from check-in to rant could fit in a mini-sode
i NEED pete to vlog himself at the all star sports pls lol
im in the camp of i have the money to stay at moderate or deluxe resorts on most of my visits. but i am the type of disney person that will go to AM magic hours and stay until the last possible minute at the parks, specially if theres extra magic hrs at night too lol. so i truly just see a value resort as being the best option for me bc i do feel for me personally, it'd be a waste to be at a resort that i won't even really be in except for sleeping lol but again, that's just me. i do however only stay at POP and/or AOA.
We live in Destin,
FL and have annual passes. We go once a month or every 2 months so we use the hotels every time we go. We have stayed at All Star Sports and hated it. We stayed at All Star Music hated it less, and stayed at All Star Music and hated it about the same as the other two. Pop Century is the ONLY value resort we will stay at. It’s not amazing, but we get the perks and when three rooms are in high demand we will stay there, since it runs about $99-160.00 a
Night with our pass discount. We
Would stay in the expensive hotels, but we go so often we wood rather spend the money on restaurants and other things when we go. If we went once a year or every 6 months we would definitely pick the Contemporary or The Polynesian.
Stay at art of animation.
Anime Psyclone we’re staying at Wilderness Lodge when we go on the 15th. We haven’t stayed there before.
I recently stayed at Wilderness Lodge. It’s fun
Anime Psyclone we also have a breakfast booked for Whispering Canyon Cafe. It looked fun in some
Videos we watched.
When you were preaching about the boardwalk pool being themed off of “It” I absolutely believed you... lmao!!
We just stayed at the Boardwalk last week! The pool 😩😩 We didn’t spend much time there..thankfully!! We LOVED the resort...can’t beat the location 💞
I was staying at Universal in January and me and my dad snuck our way into Storm-along Bay during our EPCOT day
I sent you guys an email as well.
Ha! Love Steve's comment "it's basically camping" 😂😂😂
I would love to see you do best and worst in each resort category value then moderate then delux.
The contemperary is freezing cold, but there is also a warm circle pool across from it.
Would love to see Pete’s review of an all star resort!
Top 5 best themed attraction lines (great video!)
If you are a dvc member you can go to other pools, but there are certain pools you can't, like storm along bay
12:22 that makes me laugh so hard
All Star was a price point thing for our family growing up. It allowed us to stay more days/visit multiple times a year.
That being said, we still made wonderful memories on that trip that I wouldn't trade for anything💕
We also made a lot of jokes at the resort's expense, while staying there.😂🤣🤣
I like All Star Movies.
To stay at Wilderness our vacation would have been another 1500 dollars.
after the pool refurb at the contemporary.... is it still not thought of well?
I have a question about the pools: are there any that are "zero-entry," as in a person who's not a strong swimmer can wade in from a zero-depth and gradually walk out to greater depths? This is an important consideration for some, and it might be for my party next time I visit. The only Disney pools I've experienced are the Polynesian pool circa 2000, and the Port Orleans French Quarter (a few years back). Both very enjoyable! BTW, this was a GREAT subject for a Best/Worst! Nice work, all!
For those impatient people:
Best:
Doubloon Lagoon (Port Orleans-French Quarter)
Lost City of Chavalla (Coronado Springs)
Big Blue Pool (Art of Animation)
Lava Pool (Polynesian Village)
Stormalong Bay (Yacht & Beach Club)
Worst:
Main Pool (Contemporary)
Luna Park Pool (BoardWalk)
Surfboard Bay Pool (All-Star Sports)
Computer Pool (Pop Century)
Grand Slam Pool (All-Star Sports)

I stayed at all star Sports for a week in 2014, it was still Disney magical because of the great cast members. Seriously every CM there made us feel special and seemed happy to work there. The sports theme is lame and dated but it was still Disney to me. I'm excited to see Pete's review.
I love the best and worst show! Keep it up
I'd pay extra to pool hop. That's a great idea!
Wilderness Lodge is my fave pool
my daughter's and I stayed at all star sport 2 years ago. I thought it was fine. food in food court that we had was good and the pools were ok. Only thing we did not like was the size of the rooms are to small.
I'm shocked that the boardwalk is not on the best list it's one of my favorites
Some people must be afraid of the circus and clowns. I don't get it.
It's got to be the clown. Other than that, the pool there is great.
I agree that the pool is smaller than some but ignore the fact that the clown is creepy because he is haha. The slide is very fun to slide on. Plus I'm pretty bias here because the resort is designed after Atlantic City NJ my home state that's why I love the boardwalk.
me too!
The slide in the thumbnail is terrifying
