    I call the Star Wars show the Star Wars Fashion Show. It feels like the characters come out, walk the runway, strike a few poses and then onto the next. It’s so cheesy! That being said, my husband still totally loves it. 😂

    I went with my family from South America to the parks for the first time and we did magic kingdom last. when they saw the show in the castle with the characters they cried a lot. They thought it was the most magical of them all.

      My husband who had never been until last year at 41 also thought it was amazing. He always told people about the castle show when we got home... I could have done with out it but didn't want to burst his bubble!

    Seeing as you mentioned it with Beauty and the Beast I'm surprised you didn't mention Russel's height. Like I get the costume and everything but it just really doesn't work for me when Russel and Doug are both taller than the actual person on the stage. It just ruins it for me. The same issue with Edna Mode. I love these characters but unfortunately it just doesn't work when they're known for being short.

      I think all of the human characters with masks are creepy (Gepetto, Captain Hook, etc) but masked children characters are the WORST! They are so huge, they should not be huge! Russel, Lilo, Vanellope, these are all awful.

    My daughter STILL talks about the interaction between the hosts at the Frozen sing a long. The singing is fun too but the jokes were what made it truly fun.

    I disagree with Craig. I think that Dream Along with Mickey was far better than Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire. Not only did Dream Along with Mickey have a fantastic overarching message to it, but for crying out loud, it had antagonists!! Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire is simply a collection of: Oh, let's throw a party. People enter, sing songs, and leave. Repeat. End show. On the other hand, Dream Along with Mickey has a fantastic structure to it. Also, like Craig mentioned, I don't like the way they chose recent movies for the new castle show. The princess performances and peter pan in Dream Along with Mickey were far superior.

    Frozen sing along is one of our family favorites (and we're all adults). We were there last week and saw the show over three different days and can assure you, the banter is still there and better than ever! In addition to making the audience laugh, the actors were even causing each other to break.

    My first trip to disney in 2002, I was 20, and i was in awe of the castle show. I remember seeing the princesses with their princes, and how in love they looked interacting with each other, and I immediately became a little girl again watching my fav movies for the first time. Having gone many times now, I usually don’t make time for the castle show, but I don’t think I’m the target, I think the people who benefit the most from the castle show are the 1st timers. It reminds us that here in Disney, life is different. It’s magical and perfect, and every single princess and prince actually did live happily ever after...

    Hunchback had the best stage show hands down. I was really bummed when it left but, of course, it's one of the least popular and most controversial of all the Renaissance movies so I knew it wouldn't last. Still I'm glad Quasi got some love in Happily Ever After.

    Let me preface this comment by saying I ADORE each and every one of you and value your opinions greatly... they have helped me plan many trips of ours to Disney. Our last trip I even used Dreams. However.... for this type of show, Steve is absolutely right. You are giving your opinions as single men without kids. And although that has extreme value, I would venture to say that your demographic is one of the minorities in Disney population. Again, your opinions are absolutely your own and I respect them tremendously. But, this particular show content would GREATLY BENEFIT by having another “group” represented: By adding Julie to have a woman/Mom opinion or Corey for the Dad perspective. As it stands, it is a bit one-sided. If you want to give a fair opinion on what really is Best and Worst, you need to represent as many people as possible. BTW LOVE Ryno hosting. It is about time ❤️.

    • @hcerretani6853

    Just a quick comment about the Star Wars situation, we met Rey with Chewy last October, which was really cool. She was unadvertised and just popped up when we walked in. And Boba Fett was in the building choosing who got to take pictures with him. So sometimes they do throw Rey in there with him, which is nice. I’m sure the new Star Wars land will address all the character issues :)

    With all the updates coming to Hollywood Studios (Toy Story Land, Galaxies Edge) not to mention the closings of Great Movie Ride, etc. I believe it would be very hard during those times to close any other attractions at HS. I have faith that once these lands and new attractions open up that Disney will give the Beauty and the Beast, other Star Wars shows their due and refresh, refurb them into much better shows. This is at least my hope.

  • @19Geof
    @19Geof 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I believe the whole notion of having bizarre Star Wars locations such as the Launch Bay and the stage show are merrily temporary placements just to keep guests interested in Star Wars at Disney in order to bring up the hype for Galaxy's Edge. Once Galaxy's Edge opens I feel that the stage show, the Launch Bay and even Star Tours will eventually become something else since everything will be added to the new land. Just my opinion of course.

    I get the impression that Disney World just doesn't update things that they desperately need to update compared to Disneyland. Look at how Disneyland has updated Fantasmic over the years, and yet Disney World's version has basically remained the same with some minor updates to the video montages. It's not just the shows, either, but also the attractions like Space Mountain. It probably comes down to Disney World having more first time visitors, while Disneyland is more locals, but it comes off as cheap.

    My favourite part of Path of the Jedi is that it’s useful for parts of the family (my mom in this case) who aren’t fans, or don’t follow Star Wars closely, and can catch them up on the entire Skywalker story. She understands episode VII better because of Path of the Jedi. Good recap in a decent presentation.

    I agree Beauty and the Beast needs updating, but I have a special memory associated with the show. It's my mom's favorite movie and I remember being at the parks 3 years ago and running across the whole park to get her to see the show when it started and we got front moved up to the front of the theatre and she enjoyed it so much. Definitely needs an update, but it will still always warm my heart

    Star wars in general is so overrated. I'm so disappointed that Hollywood studios went so all in with star wars. I doubt I will ever go to that park again. Toy story land isn't a big enough draw for me to make up for my annoyance with star wars

Wow, why would Disney Studios make an entire land devoted to one of the greatest Movie franchises ever...That they OWN ?..they must be crazy ! HaHa ! • @t206kid
      @t206kid 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ferg just because they own it doesn't make it Disney's. The original idea, making, development of star wars had nothing to do with Disney. And you say more room for you, but there will actually be more room for me in other parks. All you dopes will be in hs with star wars and toy story land which a friend of mine who works for Disney says its not good at all,,the 2 rides he says are "boring" to quote him. I of course havnt seen it for myself , but ill take his word for it.

    I wonder if that was Disney's intentions when they announced they were going to build the theater on Main Street. It's a pity that we'll never know what they were going to do with it since it has been recently cancelled. Maybe within time it will be dusted off the shelf and placed in a proper location at Walt Disney World.

    It's called the Hyperian theater, and having been a CM... I can totally see where the dislike for the Frozen sing a long show comes from. • @Elemiriel
      @Elemiriel 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It all depends on the Zoo, and part of how Zoos pay for new equipment/entertainment for the animals is through revenue from guest attendance. The Zoos we have locally (Pacific Northwest) are GREAT at trying to keep the animals happy and focusing on rehabilitation or rescue. Unfortunately not all zoos are as focused on the health & happiness of the animals, but I know Animal Kingdom does their very best to entertain the animals! That's part of why the more intelligent birds are used in shows. It keeps their minds active and often the birds LOVE performing.

    Totally agree with you Craig about those Castle shows....until you got to the point of it "Taking away from Disney tranquility"...okay, I get what you mean, but alas with the crowds and noise and such, things are never exactly tranquil at Disney. About the only place they can be is at Disneyland on the Mark Twain around the back side of the river, but with those Galaxy's Edge construction cranes, notsomuch. :)

    As a family that only comes to the Florida Parks every three to five years, I am always surprised by the underwhelming quality of the shows at WDW. I think it is about the lack of “Hollywood” talent that is available in Florida. Most great performers are based in California or NY. The Florida Parks seem to attract a second tier level of talent to the production, set design and costuming.
    The discussion about the Castle shows are a perfect example. Fantastic location needs a fantastic opening show! I always thought the simple opening number at the entrance( on the train) was just enough and perfect, then maybe a mid-day show at the castle that is more spectacular.

  • @vcarter0723
    @vcarter0723 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    1 - I agree, never cared for the castle shows. Always skip them. I recently listened to the “dream along with Mickey show” cause I put it in my music and I love the song at the end (“any dream is possible, wishes do come true...”) but other than that, no. I HATE how it prevents people from walking through the castle too.
    2 - the jokes from the people in the frozen was the best part, they took that away? Now there is literally no point to that “attraction” - I have the blu-ray.

Its not bad nor good but as a HUUUUUUUUUGE nerd for Star Wars, I appreciate Disney for making an attempt to show your favorite characters that you want to see in person instead of a screen. The last time I went to Disney World, I saw Beauty and the Beast live, something I never really liked even when I was a little kid. It was just as bad as I remembered, but the most entertaining part for me was that I was basically ripping the whole show to shreds in my head Mystery Science Theater style, making fun of every single thing.
    The pacing is really bad; for example, to make the runtime shorter, they have to merge some scenes together. When I first saw it as a kid, I didn’t like that they merged the songs “Belle” and “Gaston” together at the beginning of the show because “Gaston” is a song that plays much later on in the film. The worst example of this when I last saw the show, however, is that they try to merge the scene with Gaston talking to Belle in the town with the scene where Gaston tries to propose to Belle, and the way the dialogue is written is just the rapiest thing I have ever heard in my life because of the transition of the conversation from one scene to another is supposed to be merged into one scene. Like Gaston says something like : “why do you read, Belle?” And Belle says something back, to which Gaston replies: “today’s our wedding, Belle!” It is such a drastic turn in the conversation because of the show’s poor pacing and it really threw me off guard.
    Another problem with the pacing is that they cut important scenes from the movie out of the show. I think that the biggest example of this would be that they don’t show Maurice at all, so when Mrs. Potts brings up Belle losing her father, it makes no sense if you haven’t seen the movie because they don’t show it. Basically, if you wanna take your kid to see this show, they have to see the movie first or else literally nothing is gonna make sense.
    Also, the costumes are terrifying. I don’t really care about the size of them at all, and Lumiere looks alright, but all of the others, especially Mrs. Potts, look horrifying; Mrs. Potts looked like she was going to eat me in my nightmares.
    The dialogue in general is pretty clumsy, especially this one line that the Beast says when he first shows up; it goes a little something like this: “Roar, roar, roar, I’m the master of this castle, roar, I’m angry, roar!” That’s probably not it word for word, but it’s pretty close.
    I think that the only part I liked about it was “The Mob Song.” It was pretty well sung when I saw it and I thought that the sequence was pretty cool.
    So yeah, that’s kinda my personal thoughts on this show. Last time I saw it, I was just silently laughing to myself about all the jokes I was making about it.
    I think that I just wrote a random TH-cam comment that’s better written than any essay I’ve ever written in school.

    While I'll miss making fun of Pete, I gotta say Ryno is really killing it as host. Ryno involves himself in the discussion much more often whereas Pete would just introduce each list item, insult Ryno, complain about pizza and speak on behalf of Kathy Werling (again, whoever the foofoo fuck that is).

    Frozen Sing Along was the most hilarious thing we experienced at Disney in Dec 2017. Sad they changed it

    The only shows I am interested in seeing at Disney are in air conditioned buildings with comfortable seats. If I have to sit outside in the heat, it better be good.

    When the Star Wars show began I assumed it'd run for a few weeks and eventually lead to a M&G with Rey and BB-8, it seems weird to bother to cast women who look like Rey just so they can walk out on stage silently and pose. There are plenty of fans of the new movies who would love to meet her and BB-8!
    I also know it'd make the timeline wonky but I'd love if they occasionally had M&G Luke, Leia, and Han characters. They're never going to look identical to the actors but it'd be close enough imo. (Secretly I just want to meet a cute young guy with feathered Luke hair...)

    My wife was yelling at the TV when you listed Beauty & The Beast. We definitely don't agree. Yeah it may need a refurb (aka cleaning) and I would live to see some enhancements to it... but it definitely doesn't belong on the list of worst shows.

    Just saw Frozen like 2 weeks ago and it was still hilarious with some guest interaction in the Worst yea B&B is old AF and I like the Hyperion idea but you put Voyage in Best so I’m like have you seen the screens it’s literally so old that they easily put the blue-ray version of LM on the screens in a second.

    Having seen the Frozen Sing-a-long version in Disneyland Paris, which is actually a show with a storyline and the characters on stage for more than five seconds, I was suuuuuper disappointed with the version in Hollywood Studios. Also I was the only one singing along? Very odd.

    Does anyone know if the Beauty and the Beast on the disney cruise line is similar to the Broadway production? Perhaps the cruise show could replace it.

    I personally hate the Lion King comes over as let’s have a 5 year old kid with ADD design a show. Beauty and the Beast on the other hand has a story and I usually watch 5 or 6 times a visit.

    I actually love the Frozen sing along, it's one of my favourite things at HS. I think it's really funny and the kids in there while maybe not getting all the jokes seem to really enjoy it. Beauty and the Beast however does I think need to be replaced ASAP

    I don't think it's a casting issue as far as the face characters from live action movies; it's just not something that can be done well. It's why you can't meet harry, ron, and hermione at wizarding world. If you could, it would bring the quality of the experience down so much. Face characters only work when they're from an animated film. When you have these iconic characters from live action movies who everyone knows what they look like exactly, anything is going to feel fake, even for children. As a young kid I never once doubted that the princesses were the "real" princesses. But if you'd walked me up to some woman pretending to be princess leia I never would have believed it unless it actually was carrie fisher. They really just need to not attempt this.

    personally, i LOVE the beauty and the beast show! yes it's silly, and you're always taking a chance on whether you'll get good performers that day, but it always feels like good cheesy fun and i love it. (although, i also HATE the new beauty and the beast movie, so i'd despise a refurb in that style)

    Why don't they just collide Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Mary Poppins, Aladdin etc and put together the Best of Disney Broadway. "Hollywood" Studios needs Broadway...Voyage of the Little Mermaid still holds and its embraceable.

    -the castle show is garbage right now.
    -frozen singalong could go elsewhere or be over now. Hyperion could get a neat new show.
    -BatB live on stage deserves a CLEAN theater and a refreshed show, but it's not going to get it. It still deserves it. That theater is disgusting and it doesn't take that much to pressure clean.
    -The aladdin show at hyperion out in california was bad only because genie was so over the top that he ruined the show. Otherwise, yeah that show was great. I agree with Sean. Ragnarok is coming, apparently.
    -I loved Flights of Wonder. Up a whatever thingy does not impress me from what I've seen. The characters really detract for me.
    -Ryno the performances are in line with their natural behaviors so they get to do all the natural things. They absolutely get lots of downtime ,too, and it really pushes for conservation because it makes people care. The parrot show is outstanding, too, what Craig is talking about. I've worked at zoos and I've actually worked with some of the animals from Animal Kingdom (we had transfers in). Those animals have even more natural instinct than most of ours did. AK does an amazing job.
    -The goofy star wars stage shows are a bit much, I agree.

    I usually agree with these guys but not this episode. We thought Frozen was good in January and thought Beauty was great. I do hate the castle shows. If I want to see a show, I'll go to one. The only show I want to see at the castle is Happily Ever After.
