I have found the Schwalbe Hans Dampf slide on roots alot compared to the Maxxis DHR2 and Assegai I have now. My Polygon Siskiu T8 came with Hans Dampf, and I got the maxxis with a set of used wheels I purchased. Much happier with the Maxxis so far.

We don't really have big roots here but I would tend to agree. Did you have a Mary on front to compensate? I'm currently completing my month on the Maxxis again, they are a great tyre.

@@LifeofScottDenney I had double hans dampf as that is the way it came. So I had both tires sliding on roots, which was a big issue because my home trail system is full of roots. It ruined my confidence until I switched tires.

@@aw71290 As much as the maxxis would help, I really think higher end compounds and a better front would of also helped your efforts if you wanted more tractionon Schwalbe. You've pretty much changed from a light duty trail to a heavy enduro/downhill setup and saying you've got more traction on roots. Yes that's should 100% be the case, currently I'm running through a test of 6 sets looking for the middle ground between speed and traction.

@@LifeofScottDenney The only reason I ended up with the Maxxis was because they came on the used wheelset I purchased. I might try something different once I wear these tires out. I also plan to go to 2.4 wide front and rear from the 2.6s I have. That however is a ways off as I have to wear out the tires first.
I will also say that even though the Maxxis are "enduro" they are much lighter than the Hans Dampf were.

Great tyre video geezer, I've had maxxies nearly all the time but would use magic Mary's etc. What I have noticed with maxxies- no punctures and use none ebike tyres on my ebike 2.3.

If I had the option on my 20inch I'd probably get something with closer smaller knobs like a rocket Ron or something. I feel like only sometimes it's loose enough conditions for a super aggressive tire. My minion has undercut the side knobs heaps after only 350km and I think that's from our conditions being so hard pack.

I find maxxis do undercut fast, my previous minions did it aswell. My Schwalbe's are doing it at about the same pace but the continentals lasted alot longer. I dont think its really an issue though but it is something you notice. I am getting a rubber durometer to check the compounds as in guessing this is largely due to compounds hardness used on the side knobs.

@@LifeofScottDenney they work well in everything and wear super well.
My first purchase came from Amazon Japan LOL...then I realized the next go around they're in USA.
They messed up my order(sent wrong size )and I ended up with a free tire
I got them all sale a couple times already
      24 USD and 29USD on 3rd order
Panaracer swoop is a sweet do it all tire that wears very well too..
Downside is limited to 26x2.4 (works for me) or 27.5x2.1(to narrow)
There's a china knockoff of it where they offer a wide 27.5 and 29er version...may give it a go.

The Tankens to run wider than other brands sizes also 2.6 is wider than some 2.8s I've had prior

from my experience, depending on the model you go with, a tire is a tire. They all have their perks and down sides. I had a set of high roller 2 and on my other bike magic marry's. One made me go faster with less grip on turns and the other gave me more speed on turns because i had more grip.
