@@marcsullivan7987 yeah like if you played a choppy funk groove on an E dominant 9th chord, thats a vamp eh..or if you played A min and then D dominant 7th thats a dorian vamp ala santana eh
i thought vamp was the chords that looped and were a repeating pattern, do you mean the soloist does that? i guess they do but its stylistic too, its more a like jazz and fusion rock thing but blues or blues rock would be more diatonic i guess?
Hello!!! I want that you answer me a question, please!! So, I want to know if it is possible to put more than one syllable on a quarter beat without subdividing the beat. In other words, can I put two syllable🎵 into a quarter Beat while the beat is not subdivided??? Can the notes be subdivided and the beat of the drum is still the same?
that would mean you are subdividing further and the drummer isn't, you question is confusing but yes some one could play 16ths some one else could play 8ths on top of it you could even play 5 or 3 notes in the same space or the band could all play the same subdivisions
if the down beats are there ie the count you can do anything pretty much, if they are not, this is synchopation, usually the 1 is kept as a down beat for the context so 1 (and 2) and (3) and (4) and is a beat where 2 3 and 4 are half a beat later on the and which comes after the down beat
Looper would be nice for your explanations..nice
What Vamp in this case means?
Usually a one or two chord groove, repeated indefinitely.
Thanks. It is interesting, why he uses this term and not uses lick or riff instead? What do you think? @@marcsullivan7987
Playing around rthymically over a chord sequence. The chords stay the same but the ideas in terms of chord voicing and rhythms can be improvised.
