HEY EVERYONE... Vote Greg Koch as a CERTIFIED GUITAR PLAYER (ie. the CGP Chet Atkins Award). Greg should absolutely get this award. Love him or not, the man is continually playing at genius level and is moving the art of guitar forward in a big way. The band should absolutely get recognition too. IMHO, Tommy Emmanuel should present it to Greg Koch as it should only be presented by past recipients. And yes, there are MANY others who qualify for this award in many different genres. ARE YOU WITH ME YOU TUBERS?
The way Matt built that solo was fantastic. Took us all with him - absolute masterclass. And always a treat to see what GK is going to do at any given moment. Genius really.
For a guy that plays as well as Greg does I dig the fact that he never takes himself that seriously. One of the few great guitarists that knows the value of a sense of humor.
Greg is one of the most expressive guitar players ever, it feels like he have this unbelievable easy and immediate way of bringing into music his deep thoughts, incredible. And he’s just getting better and better, having more conscience of the musicality that needs to be followed by the listeners… such a joy! And Matt seems to be tighter again, one of the best recordings I’ve heard lately 🙏🏻🤗🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Greg and Jack Pearson just have a magical way of getting their musical ideas through their hands in such a natural and unpretentious way. So many textures, dynamics and voicings. I could listen to them both for days!
Fantastic fun to see this concert! GK is a wickedly skilled guitarist, a technical genius and a virtuoso on his instrument. But if the good fairy offered me to play as him or as Matt S, I'd choose the latter any day of the week. Matt's solos are so much more interesting to listen to! So melodious and with a timing that is unfailing. His unique approach to the blues is unparalleled!
This was an absolutely amazing live show and opportunity to see and meet Greg. The icing on the cake was one of my guitar heroes, Matt Schofield sitting in with him.
Loved the homage to Roy in Lovers. There’s nobody alive other than you that can bring both Jeff Beck and Roy together on one single guitar. And that’s THE song. Just amazing and what a band! Wow!
Honestly I am super duper familiar with Matt’s playing because I’ve seen him so many times but holy moly Matt never ceases to surprise me. Those lines man I just can’t stop replaying them again and again. If you were to put Matt in a fusion gig he would absolutely be the one to steal the show. He’s my guitar hero. Please never stop making making music.
Great stuff. Thank you. I first saw Greg back in the 1980's "Greg Koch and the tone controls" They played at a little club near state fair park. I have been a fan ever since.
The mix is absolutely fantastic! 🎶 Sucks that the kick drum keeps walking away lol. I think we've (drummers) all had to deal with that at some point. 🤣
Overall, from what I heard, this show confirms that Mr. Koch’s reputation as an exciting player is well deserved. As a listener and a keys guy, I do have considerations about the overall balance, however. First tune: What is it with mixing engineers when they hear keyboards are set at half the level of guitar and drums and think to themselves, “That sounds pretty good.”? I’ve been in this organist’s shoes many times. He has to pull all the drawbars full out, stomp the volume pedal down all the way and virtually forgo all dynamics lest he be lost in the mix completely. I just won’t put up with that b.s. any more. Give the guy some headroom and let him control his dynamics with his volume pedal. Then he could use some subtle shading with the organ drawbars and could perform dynamics and phrasing with the volume pedal, in the same ways that the great Greg K and his drummer can. Second tune: Better, because it is a ballad. Third tune: Again, starts with nice dynamics, but the keys are still a bit buried, especially since the player is holding down the bass. Why do all of his solos sound like the band is losing energy? Because his level needs to come up more. Sound engineer, WTF is wrong with you guys? Do you all take an oath to screw with the keyboards? Whenever we got a new guy at the mixing board I tried to tell them to think of the sound of Deep Purple in terms of balance. Keys should be on par with guitar volume wise in a band like this.
For those of you, not familiar with Matt Schofield, here is a recent show he did. Greg really didn’t let him play to any extent. Matt and Greg are my two favorite guitarists…. Enjoy… th-cam.com/video/fl1yAcF6WOQ/w-d-xo.html
@@clausmadsen6754 i'm seeing a lot of people confused by that. they're in for a nice treat the first time they experience the low sub rumble of good organ bass in person
Greg is the only player who can even approximate the jeff beck style. But as good as he is he can’t get that beck thing. That’s how unique a player beck is. Even a play anything virtuoso like Greg can only get close but not quite. However it’s a great version still.
I don’t think he was trying to be exact, that would be foolish and a failure,...it’s a great version and tribute while remaining quite close.....to be equal, how close could beck get while playing a koch tune
Actually Mark Lettieri does Beck better than both Greg and Jeff himself IMHO - and I love and revere the two of them! th-cam.com/video/3MAKJN6oJtQ/w-d-xo.html

I can dig it!
Thanks Rhet Shull for showing me this. Fabulantastic musician.

Just INSANE! Greg is easily one of the best EVER!!!
For a guy that plays as well as Greg does I dig the fact that he never takes himself that seriously. One of the few great guitarists that knows the value of a sense of humor.
He is a super approachable guy & so is his son who you can see on drums here. Looking forward to his return in March 23. Can't wait!

Two of my favorites, what a treat!!
Right?! When we saw Matt walk in the door with his guitar, we knew we were in for a treat, for real. It was so exciting to watch.
Greg Koch's tele fluence Fishman pickups sounds so good!!!
Matt is a incredible player. His phraising and creative is amazing... The fingers flow across the freetboard
Smokin' drummer. Great keys. The guitar playing is genius.
Uncle Fester has the serious groove to hold the jam together. Awesome. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I believe Greg is in league of his OWN LOL !😊🙏👍🍂🍁🌾🍁🍂🍁🌾🦉🇺🇸🙏🍂
I wish I could like this more than once…
Greg and Jack Pearson just have a magical way of getting their musical ideas through their hands in such a natural and unpretentious way. So many textures, dynamics and voicings. I could listen to them both for days!
We concur!
I love Jack Pearson....they both make it look soooooo easy....I wish Jack would play live more....

SO GOOD YES SIR
Oh yeah. It was spectacular first hand. Feels good indeed!
Excellent recording 👌
It is all thanks to Datflys & Jeff Kissinger. The full show is available on th-cam.com/users/datflys if you wanna see the whole thing.
@@BluesRadioInternational great, thank you very much 👍
Such master’s !
Greg is always full os taste, but what I found extraordinaire is Dylan's drummig. Lots of feeling and groove.
I was lucky enough to be there. GK even took a selfie with me.
I was too. What a personable guy he is.

WOW! That was/is awesome. Bonus track with Matt Schofield?!? WHAT?!!? Appreciated!
We were over the moon when we saw Matt walk in with his guitar. It was an incredible show. Exciting on every level. Oh yeah!
Drummer's great.
Greg's son. Yeah he's really good.
Master class in music right there my friends
Hot Stuff 🔥👍
At a loss for words...is Greg still getting better all the time? I really think so.
Wow - I have a really short attention span but this amazing performance keep me watching the full way through!
Had this cranked up so loud my neighbors thought I had live band in my living room! Sound and quality is really good.
Great mix people!! The drums sounded stellar!! Easily some of the best these guys ever sounded!! Thanks for the share!!🙏
Agreed best sounding mix I’ve heard
He does nice stuff that no one in the crowd can go home and do!
I was there. Took tons of close up video of his hands. Glad i did. What a player and nice guy!
Great solo Matt, well paced and melodic 😎
Drummer feeling it.
That's Greg's son, Dylan Koch on drums!
Wow! 👏👏👏
Que bien toca Matt.....se me ponen los pelos de punta....Calidad pura....
Top class....👍😁
Holy Crap ✌️
Holy Mackerel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great intonation from y'all
Beauty! Amazing guitars…small quibble..just that organ bass drone…screams for a good bass player…
Tremendous

The genius of Drade. Simply wonderful.
I liked “Cause we ended as Lovers “ “cause he stayed pretty true to the Jeff Beck version while still making it his own. Well done Greg!
wowza!
Kudos to his son Dylan powering through that 1st tune when he kit was falling down.
Good job to whomever did the mix on this!
Excellent!!

My man said I need DOUBLE THE DOUBLE MANUALS.
A two-pack of Mel Bay books 1 & 2?
What is the song starting around minute 12 called? Does Gregg have a studio version of it?
The song is “Allora” from the album “From the Up’Nuh”.
Great blues at Marty Sender You Tube

where's the bassist? killer tone and playing

Actually on here is he is playing as much in a Roy Buchanan style which he ca do better than anyone including Beck imho.
No Koch amp...??
enooooooorrrmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where's the Bass player????
The keyboards are playing the bass
If this is a satire it’s damn hilarious and I thank you
hiding in the left hand of the guy on the keyboards
I knew they weren't really playing! Nobody is that good... lol!
Jeff Who?
Matt seems to have inspired Greg to emote... all over the place (& he'd better clean it up!?)
That sliding bass drum...
A drum rug that your kick drum is solidly strapped to is what I came up with. It can’t move away from me.
No bass???
Toby Lee Marshall’s left hand is the bass.
Wer hat das gemixt 🤭
Musicianship, musicianship, ... repeated a ton more times.
Grauenhafter Mix, Snare-Drum lauter als die Gitarren...
Jesus dann mach es besser oder besser noch sei leise und nerv uns nicht
Greg and the Kochsmen! what a band.
Luv me some Koch! 🎶🎸
Do I practice more, or just sell all of it?
practice more
