The Legion
The Drill: They kicked off the drill to a Chaka Khan hit. This song may not be familiar to new school, however it delivers a nice punch at the beginning of the show. Packed with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. The Dizziacs (trumpets) solo was an example of the killer instinct in their shows. Great job.
Concert Number: The Legion killed it with this familiar song. In the past I've heard FAMU perform this song... equally well. Silkettes and Spartan Guards displayed amazing visual aid to komplement the song.
Hot Ice Feature: These ladies were incredible. Their technique & komplex moves are exceptional. The synchrony was together. To kall them a "Hot Mess" is just a petty rivalry... doesn't mean much koming from a band program that doesn't have a dance girl auxiliary... don't believe they ever had a dance auxiliary and isn't going to have one because they won't be able to claim they were the first to produce one. 😊
Dance Routine: Pretty good.
Over all I give the winning medal🏅to the Legion for excellent musicianship and auxiliary, and original showmanship.
FAMU plays well to be expected. There dance routine was good. Their drill was not enthusiastic and their flags were good, not standout.

FAMU MARCHING 100 BAND (and counting) was fantastic! I used to love watching the Marching 100 practice on "The Patch" when l was a student at FAMU! FAMU won! 🧡💚🐍
I will take quality every time over quantity. 💚💛
North Carolina had a nice show and sounded good. The "100" is on a different level as far as having an entertaining show. The difference as far as dance routines are concerned is that The "100" actually dances and plays at the same time and does not play one or two notes and then go into line dance mode with horns on the ground and just the tubas and percussion playing. I have seen some bands try it, but it's not the same as the "100". Otherwise I enjoyed the halftime, but FAMU was more entertaining..

Norfolk State not North Carolina. So what you're saying is that FAMU does what they do which they often get criticized for in the SWAC and Norfolk State does their own thing.
NSU just has more SOUL & groove to their arrangements. That to me is one of the main things missing from FAMU's delivery of their arrangements....And that comes down primarily to how they are instructed to play and a little bit on the arrangement....

In my opinion, they deflee were, i was not intrigued by FAMU and neither was the crowd, wit that many band members they should be heard in outter space, give the Legion a 400+ piece band and watch the difference
Relook FAMU, I was there and saw the band members bumping into each other. PS left side first formation
Both bands are winners! NSU had a cleaner field presentation and FAMU had a more entertaining show. Both sounded equally great!
The Hundred
Opening Fanfare & Drill:
Loving the Olympic fanfare. Beautiful and majestic. The drill was good. I didn't realize it was a short drill until someone else on this post pointed that out.
Concert Number and Dance Routine:
FAMU is known for playing a koncert number well and playing a good dance routine. Overall good show, to be expected.
At our peek we had 10 DMs!! Hubba 100!!
This is very opinionated everyone will go with their favorite band. In battle rap we would’ve called this a classic, however the technicalities is what sets this apart. First of NSU is half FAMU size but if you closed your eyes you couldn’t tell! They both sound great! That’s one for NSU. NSU hit 98’s every stride, lines were straight, and nobody got out of place. MDFS separates them because they’re isn’t a HBCU percussion section like them. So I give it to NSU!

No other program but FAMU, plays and dance the entire dance routine. Everyone else has Tubas and drum breaks, and them P-Valley girls...
Folk can't do FAMU show, too intense, and highly cardio...

Also FAMU wont be as big as they were in the past because half of those people did not even go to the school. That key change was a bit much Fam turned Moni long into a fanfare😂😂😂
I going to explain to you so you can understand. The band members you speak of attended Tallahassee Community College, which at the time had a pipeline to University, which is Florida State or Florida A&M, which meant you could take courses at either University, but still a student at TCC. These students were taking classes at FAMU but were technically TCC students. You have to have so many hours to qualify for student activities , thus how they became part of the band. When administrators heard of this, they closed the loop hole and basically shut down the pipeline for disadvantage Black students to attend University through TCC. And that's the true story behind it all. TCC has now changed its name to Tallahassee State College and has started a transfer program exclusively for FAMU and Florida State cause their were committed to the GAME

I love these uniforms. They look regal, which fits their style. Not whimsical, which isn't their style.
After living in Virginia for 18 years , I must say Norfolk has come a mighty long way !! When FAMU came to town , it was absolutely no comparison and everyone knew that . I have been to a many of Norfolk games with no one in the stands… so I have seen this band at its worst. I’m proud of them !! But they will never be at the level of the Marching 100 !! I love both bands this time , but my Rattlers are the innovators of everything! 💚💚🧡🧡🧡🐍🐍🐍🐍
lol FAMU remembers the massacre during their homecoming years ago. The Legion was twice ranked as HBCU band of the year by ESPN and HBCU band of the year by HBCU Sports recently. So I don't know what other level you're referring to. We've certainly have seen FAMU at their worst after the incident.

This is the early 2000's (Im real ole school) just moved to Tidewater, active duty US Coast Guard in Portsmouth, No one attends your games at Norfolk and I happen to attend since FAMU was playing. Not only did we beat yall in football, but we did not bring our band. The Norfolk Spartans back then, were certainly not comparable to FAMU, when your Flag corp forgot the routine and messed up the formation. We dare not laugh, cause we see it was a work in Progress. Dont play me caused I lived in Virginia and been up to the campus several times and know the issues. Your competition and level is Virginia State in Errick or possibly VUU in Richmond. I was simply stating MY opinion to the improvement I saw and happy for it!! There is no need for your useless comment. Let's all move on🧡🧡💚💚💚🧡🧡🧡🐍🐍🐍🐍
