All valid scoring and agree with the opinions expressed here, especially round 2 and round 5. Both bands were great. I now have a new favorite MEAC band. #M100 #Fall90.
I agree with your scoring. I am a Norfolk fan and they did sound tired. I'm proud that they were able to come out. I understand we had to cancel our Friends and Family day last week because the band was struck with COVID. They had a great showing today and I can't wait to see them this season. Thank you Steven for your commentary.❤

BUT LET THERE BE NO MISUNDERSTANDING BOUT MY 🐍
Me too as far as liking the "Crank" version of the 100!!! I've heard them crank b4, last year, but each year they seem to be getting more and more adept at it! When/if they clean it up a bit (tempo, rhythms, intonation) they will be even more of a force to be reckoned with! 💪🏾🧡🐍💚💪🏾
This views changed my opinion of the battle, when I first watched it on @showtimeweb I could barely hear famu playing because it was a side view. This front view at the 50 yard line made me see I was absolutely wrong. The sound was definitely there.
Out of ALL the reviewers, I enjoy yours the best because of your rating system. It's much more in depth than just simple round by round, and how a band answers. Why should the second band have to answer the whole 5th quarter? Makes no sense.
I liked both...I agree with the score because I couldn't really choose...I do agree it felt like NSU was losing some gas there at the end and FAMU could've kept going all day and I love the fact that they updated the book...thats all I wanted from us.....but overall great battle from both
My only nitpick...you can clearly see the camera is closer to FAMU. Something to take into consideration. Camera is sitting across the 50 from NSU near the FAMU endzone. That's a huge difference. Next episode was boring. Sounded good, but didn't deserve a 5 based on how easy it was. No moving parts at all. I got NSU 23 to 21.
I see and hear what you’re saying. Good observation! I’ll really take into consideration the difficulty level of the music as well. Thanks for your feedback and I see how you got your scores.
@@StevenHolidayhe’s just saying that cause he’s a Norfolk fan paparazzi was on the 50 yard line and if you got to the other dude who recorded showtime if I’m not mistaken was clearly close to may they just nitpick not to mention they played a song they played last year and a song they played at the jamboree not to mention norfolks French horns or mellow was weak compared to the rest of the band
@jericoyouharrison9748 he was absolutely not on the 50 yard line. Lmao look at the distance from the wall in the videos. And you can literally see the 50 yard line far in front of him when he points towards norfolk. That's why all FAMU fans wanted him to use the video from a 100 media source. No diss to FAMU. Just the truth.
Loved the battle and agree with your scoring except for two points: I thought Fam should have gotten a 4 for Rd 2 simply for Africana. That was a clinic. Loved NSU but absolutely hated Across 110th Street as a battle selection. Poor song choice and I would have given them a 3.
It sounds like two different missions. NSU came to be more musical with their playlist, and I believe the bout with COVID-19 is probably the reason for the tired output at the end. Let's remember that COVID-19 affects the respiratory system. FAMU, on the other hand, sounds like they are in transition. They are in a cranking conference and moving more towards that style and not the musicality they are known for. It will be interesting to see how each band goes throughout the season.
A little more polish and they'll be alright. The Legion took it for me based off song selection and I'm a little biased. I definitely liked it when FAMU opened up though, they really could do some damage if they cleaned it up a bit. I don't think the culture for it is there though... Too many snobby alumni who are willing to settle for the status quo than embrace change... But that's a topic in itself. It's definitely closer than 03 or 05 haha
I'm a lil disappointed in the thin sousas in round 5 FAMU and that sour happening before the Tuba break. The tempo issues with both with their EWF pieces. Both sounded good but round 2 and 3 was low grade for FAMU. NSU played like they really wanted something else in two of the middle rounds.

Fam is already respected. Please stop it. Yeah they can clean up it’s the first game. But please stop acting like these directors don’t respect famu as a band. that honestly is a ignorant statement
@@jymarkolacey4914dont asume that one cant be from FAMU and criticize famu. The execution of Fantasy was not dynamic it was thin and half assed. The Mello ruined the second round. Then they locked in on whats app.

I wouldn't be surprised they ran outta gas. NSU had to cancel their Fan day a week prior due to more than half the band being sick.
This is 1st time I've heard famu "crank" a lil bit.... man the legion won to me but famu went in a lil bit. I like this crank version of fam......

Fam went in on NSU with the last 3 songs.

20:31 they playing like their parents just left 💀😂😂😂
For consideration, may want to add or modify a category for “complexity of music” This is a major factor for me. Norfolk for the win.
When y'all say "complexity." Y'all fail to realize that FAMU actually UTILIZE the woodwind section. Unlike 97% of other bands.

Melodic thump into an abbreviated coming to America into africano.
