- Jen and Eric visit Isla Mujeres in August of 2020 to experience how the island and its beach clubs are handling the pandemic. Fast forward a few years later after being crippled by the “you know what” and falling victim to large corporations, these beach clubs have closed completely

Awesome!! I go there every February and stay North Beach xichel hotel. It looks so calm....i was just there in feb before everything closed. Love the turtle 🐢 farm!

We are Joe & Deb from York, Pa. We have been going to Isla since 97'. We liked the video. We stayed right behind the Shell House last year at Coco Villas. We saw the sunrise from the rooftop every morning with the shell house roof in the corner of the view. We like Cazulas M&J. Our favorite place to stay so far is the Ixchel on Playa Norte.
Was at Isla for 2 weeks in June/July. Zamas was definitly a great getaway. The personalized service at a reasonable price made it a special treat for this budget traveler. Snappers near the north end was a popular hangout for me. Lived the spicy Poke bowl. Good live music on Fridays and Saturdays too. I will have to chech out Captain Dulches on my next 2 week trop that starts Dec 24. Cheers!

Isla Mujeres offers a wide variety of tempting options for beach lovers, and is a relative bargain. Snorkel with tropical fish amid coral reefs, skim the blue waters. Beautiful vacation destination.

Anthony Jozwiak yeah wasn’t exaggerating on the way in. I was one second from putting the camera down and aiming for something to stop us. Our cart had crappy brakes and we were picking up speed down that hill

We love Isla Mujeres! Some of our favorite places: Tiny Gecko bar, Xantolo bar/restaurant, Abuelos Restaurant, Tres Mentiras hotel/bar, La Palapa del Capitan bar, Rock Bar, Zama Beach Club, Isla Mujeres Palace, Rocamar Hotel, DeNuccio's Italian, Olivia Mediterranean, North Beach, Punta Sur.
All great choices! We will be back to check out some of those places in February

You asked for loves: the Tikin Xic filet at Capitan Dulche is really good. A hidden gem as far as breakfast goes on Isla is Elements Of The Island on Av Juarez. Fresh made bread and muesli, their own jam recipe, hand squeezed orange juice, great coffee, and super friendly staff - like stopping by grandma's house for breakfast. And, for a lovely dinner with music and a view, you can't beat Rosa Sirenas! Saludos :)

My husband and I went last feb, and we enjoyed it. All the places. We stayed at privelege Aluxes. The breakfast and dinners at the hotel were amazing. And we went to the turtle farm and punta sur, and enjoyed every bit of it. And some of the lil cafes and restaraunt along the way were amazing.. love going there
Linda Beckering When we stay in a hotel Privilege Aluxes is our favorite place! We fell in love with Punta Sur it’s so peaceful and beautiful over there. Definitely had a great experience renting a house.
The hotel at the northern tip was called Avalon Reef Club. Fantastic place to stay and eat. Chartered a boat and fished for barracuda...cost $75 for the day,and they served margaritas, great time.

Zama is free just have to consume. No minimum. Yes you can snorkel

I've tried to find the location on the map where you donated the cat food, but can't find it. I will be there in a week and a half and would love to buy them some cat foot. I fed about 100 the last time I was there. The cats started to wait for me each morning, and each day there were more.

Bid Daddy beach club....doesnt have all the bell and whistles of many of the fancier clubs but the food and service was always excellent. Who know if they have made it thru the pandemic!

zman256 oh we definitely do that every time. We usually make that our last stop for obvious reasons and we’re done filming by then. Jen falls for the spider over the bathroom sink every time lol

Dewayne Westmoreland they are gas powered and you have enough for like three days of driving around. The rental place will tell you when to come back for a refill and it’s included

How much are the beach clubs to get in? $600 peso but it went towards your lounger, food , etc ?
Nikki B yes exactly at least at Captain Dulce. At Zama there was no prepayment but you did have to consume.

good question, We watched the markets until We saw the best rate. In our case around March we saw 25:1 so we ordered pesos through Wells Fargo and they mailed them to our house.

In a tourist town? At an upscale restaurant on the main drag? Yes. It is relatively cheap. The point is it’s cheaper to eat on vacation than it is on a random day at home. That’s not always the case. Many tourists destinations are double what you would expect to pay for a meal

@@uptown157 it’s super easy. The roads basically go in a big circle around the island. I would suggest using a cell phone for navigation to find all the good spots. Some are hidden off the main road and easy to drive right past.
