Kenny had the audience in the palm of his hand here. Decades later he has us all in the palm of his hand through youtube. A VERY funny man that is much loved.
Absolutely. I think even to be this funny at the time of this interview must have been hard for him cos he'd been diagnosed with HIV just a year or 2 previously. I guess he was on medication and hoping a cure would be found asap and living day to day with it.
@@JohnKuridala The Goodies were a trio of British comedians: Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie, who had TV series and radio shows. Kenny Everett was also British and on TV and radio, sometimes solo, sometimes with several others.
I used to love watching Clive James, he was a really good tv presenter, and this was aclassic interview with that manic entertainer Kenny Everrett. r.i.p Kenny.
We had an English literature tutor at college, who was the spitting image of Kenny Everett...and when we were doing the novel, Catch 22, he used to read out one of the character parts in he voice of Kenny Everett's American tank commander. The guy really was a hoot.
Kenny Everett was and is my absolute favorite - helped me get through some very rough times as a teen. His irreverence for so many sacred cows and inflated egos was inspired and always in the best possible taste! His public lavatories sketch with Billy Connolly is an absolute sketch.
You got Kenny Everrett show in the US? I would have thought your Networkswould have found our very Liberal British Humour to be too offensive formainstream US tv.
Born & raised in Rep. of Ireland; emigrated to the US in 1980's - my teenage years were BLESSED by the brilliance of Kenny Everett. Amazing to think of the impact Kenny had on the world of television, years before MTV would end up blighting his lead.
Aah, that figures. Its just that I picked up on your spelling. You speltfavourite the American way, favourite. Yeah, we had some great tvcomedy shows back then. I watched his shows for most of my childhood. My happiest memory re his shows is his Rod Stewart Skit where his arse inflates and he floats in the air. I remember my Mum couldn't stop laughing.
Hear Hear! Everett wasn't just very talented, he was also a gentle, modest and affable guy. Every celeb who cameoed on his video show has had nothing but nice things to say about him. Even David Bowie, the world's most serious man, admitted he had fun appearing on the show.
Remember watching this year's ago- a classic interview,Kenny had everybody, including Clive,in fits of laughter, whish I,d actually been there RIP Kenny and Clive we miss you Auckland New Zealand 2021

Well said - he is one of the funniest people to walk the earth. I love this, only got into him long after he'd died. Reg Prescott is one of the best characters in comedy!!
Still keep on coming back to see him sometimes. Such a lovely talent, pure fun, so special. I hardly like anyone now, all the greats are in the past. Oh well.
He was like an overgrown naughty schoolboy & I loved him for it.My dad thought he was hilarious which surprised me 'cause I din't think he liked this kind of thing. But it worked out fine 'cause he always won the argument between him & mum over whether to watch him, which meant that I got to watch him.So thanks,Dad,lol.Kenny was just brilliant at what he did.
I feel so lucky to have grown up with Kenny, Clive and all the other greats that were on tv at the time. True personalities most of them. So thankfull they left many great memories like this for us to laugh along with.
I would dearly love to see Kenny Everett re-runs of his show - being much older now, I would appreciate his genius much, much more than I did as a kid.
He famously played a slightly not ready demo tape of Bohemian Rhapsody he had aquired on the radio. Brian May was genuinly annoyed and upset. All in the best possible taste!
Little known fact Clive James's Father was a POW of the Japanese. When the war ended the authorities did everything the could to return the POW's home as quickly as possible and returned many by aircraft. Clive's father was on one of those flights home and his family were informed and were waiting for him but the plane got caught up in a tropical storm and it crashed killing him and devastated his family.
I adored Kenny right back at the very start, in his days on Radio London with Dave Cash (The Kenny and Cash Show). I never lost faith in him, even when he fell out of favour with the media cognoscenti who reviled him in later years. He made me laugh so much I cried. Although he was gay, it never occurred to me that this was his mindset - and it made no odds to me when I heard this. I remember seeing this TV appearance when it was shown, and never forgot. Just SO glad you posted it here!! Thanks!
Used to love watching both guys when I was growing up. I miss Kenny's brand of comedy. They really don't make them like that anymore. I know some have tried to kind of emulate it but I've never found those comedians to have the same charm, causing their acts to really seem crass in my eyes. Only Kenny could pull this shit off.
You never know what you've got until its gone ... here is the case ... no one any where near his talent around now days ... he could bring a tear to a glass eye with laughter ... Kenny you are missed.
Grew up watching & listening to kenny Everett. He upset the establishment even back then for basically drawing attention to how ridiculous things in modern life were. He’d get a criminal record & 6 weeks unpaid labour just for the traffic warden doll now!!

He'd never get air time now.
baldieman64 Thank god I lived through all the pre-pc nonsense and was able to experience comedy like Kenny.
One of his characters was recently running the country ..........
OMG, yes we certainly do, I loved all those silly characters he came up with, I had no idea he'd died of AIDS.

What isn’t often shown is the sheer technical genius he was, his persona eclipsed the sheer talent and hard graft he put into his work
He took that Quantel Paintbox to places where it had never been before ...
