Kenny Everett as "Cupid Stunt" on "Parkinson" '82 (pt.1/7) HQ

- This is part ONE of what was a magical night for me (for PART TWO, hit • Buddy Rich "In A Mello... ). It was the 6th of March, 1982 and unannounced, TWO of my FIVE ALL-TIME HEROES appeared on Parky - Buddy Rich and Kenny Everett (they'd never have met any OTHER way!)
Also there, were Roy Castle and a surprise guest. This was a SHOW. Almost a full hour. No sidekick. No desk. And all of the guests STAYED after their initial interviews. Buddy did THREE numbers and then... well, you'll have to watch it to see!
You need to see ALL SEVEN pieces, IN ORDER. Now, put your computer onto FULLSCREEN and enjoy! - บันเทิง
No-one could ever replace him. The ultimate comic genius. So much of his stuff was unscripted, and he didn't need writers. Incredible!
Kenny Everett wasn't bad either
Genius comedian!
Actually Kenny spent a great amount of time on his scripts which he worked on until they were exactly what he wanted. Brilliant.
Barry Cryer was one of if not the main writer
kenny everett had 2 other writers on his show (at least)
Cupid Stunt was not only his best character, it was probably the greatest comedy drag act of all time - Kenny made it look effortless
The passing of 'Kenny Everett' was as hard hitting as the passing of 'Rik Mayell'.
My Dad hated us watching this show when we were kids. I got caught by my next door neighbours Mum, who walked in the room with me and a friend. I was sat in her swivel chair spinning around holding two ornaments from her fire mantle place (hands holding balls), swinging my legs over saying "It's all done in the best possible taste".
Hahahahahaha class
Great Story
To this day, I have no idea how my parents let me watch Kenny Everett when I was a kid. I'm glad they did 🤭
@@jasonk9688 The same with me!
same lol, my dad was the best, would let me watch horror movies with him as I was a big horror fan.@@jasonk9688
Lovely Kenny Everett....missed like Freddie Mercury. These guys had lovers together. Pity. RIP.
He never goes out of date. How the hell he got away with a name like Cupid Stunt is amazing at that time in Britain. He was wonderful!
....Kenny represented the very best of British taste & humour and it is amazing (looking back EVEN now) how DID he get away with it?
According to a Barry Cryer interview (he is also sadly no longerwith us) an alternative name for CS could have been Mary Hinge...
@@elizabethsheffield6609 , because we still had freedom back then.
He used Cupid Stunt after the BBC told him the name Mary Hinge was too suggestive.
Just what I was going to write !
Kenny Everett was a one off, we will never see the likes of him again and Tv has gone so boring over the years since he died at such a young age. RIP Legend
Kenny was a grade A total original genius. We may never see his like again.
yes we will. its called recordings! thank God or whoever recorded it ;)
+lewisner Well don't despair. Be optimistic :)
Let's remember Kenny's great writing team, including the fabulous Barry Cryer.
"Kenny was a grade".......
A grade of what?
Thank god.
The fact he never shaved or hid his beard just adds to the humour - hahahaha
Very true. It's like Lenny Henry did impressions of white people. And a vent whose name escapes me made no attempt to stop his lips moving. In all three cases, the characterisations were so STRONG, they stood DESPITE the obvious.
davidwrightatloppers the vent you mentioned was the totally shit Roger De' Coursey wit the equally as shit Nookie Bear
liam whitcombe No, it was a gay American vent called Wayland Flowers, with "Madame" (took some finding - he died from AIDS in '88).
Gwapple me gwapenuts!
He thought the powder covered it up!
Sooooo sadly missed. He was a huge part of my younger years from the zany shows on Capital Radio to the TV series. I never missed a show. One of the best British talents ever to come out of this country.
I've never been any good at impressions but I could do Cupid Stunt brilliantly. .,Miss you Kenny ..what a legend!!!
I still cry with laughter when I see him. So missed.
Brilliantly performed. Crying tears watching Kenny. Cupid Stunt and Sid Snot. My favourites. Never missed. ...😂🙌
Angry of Mayfair.

He truly was an amazing talent. No one before or since has ever come close to him & no one ever will. He wasn’t afraid to take risks even if it got him into trouble.
If only we had TV like this again, Kenny was simply brilliant, and all done in the best possible taste !!!!
Me and my mum watched this when I was a teenager........totally original Saturday night entertainment! Doubt humor like this will ever be allowed again or replicated....totally brilliant!
Kenny was brilliant, he is sadly missed on both TV and radio. In these days of tenth rate rubbish masquerading as talent we need his genius again. He left us too soon.
So true. Forever missed. I seriously wonder what Cuddly Ken would make of TV today. Maybe in some ways it is better for him to not be here to see how totally shit it has become.

One of Michael's best interviews, imo. Kenny was on fire.
I remember watching this when I was a kid and it was as hilarious then as it is now, just fabulous!
Legend. Fantastic dj too. Kenny was big Mates with Freddie Mercury and was the first dj to play and recognise the genius of Bohemian Rhapsody whilst other djs said it was too long and would flop.
Anyway years later after becoming the most successful record of all time I think he was so ahead of his time and a visionary in seeing it's future in the music history all of fame. - just a bit ✌
We all pretended to be Cupid Stunt as kids - even though we didn’t get the double entendre 😂
His style of humour and delivery is hard to beat - one of the greats.
Mad as a box of frogs Kenny is and was hilarious, really miss the genius that was Kenny Everrett
Hilarious the best
It always saddens me to see Kenny on form like this--such, such a terrible early loss for British comedy and entertainment generally
Still missed
......one of a few greats who succumbed to aids related diseases.
I haven't laughed that much for years Long Live Kenny Everett!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤😂
Kenny the original Conchita!! all done in the best possible taste!!
Oh yes!💯
That wonderful spoonerism ' Cupid Stunt ' reminds me that a two famous Hollywood stars named their offspring - ' Shiloh Pitt ' .
Omg
.......Brian......hahahahahahahahaha.......... good one!
You never get tongue in cheek comedy anymore
This generation is so offended
I kiss this great memories of my youth.
Thanks for sharing 😊
Here here.
@@darrenflynn6635 what’s here ?
love him so much!! my hero!! cupid stunt is fabulous in the best possible taste!!!
Kenny Everett is a legend. So sad that he died before I was born
A true innovative genius who used modern technology in such a unique way. I adored his shows on Thames, and Kenny left us way too early. He was such a funny and clever man who’s sorely missed to this day.
The fact he kept his beard made this even more hilarious
He was a guy being a drag act - the beard made it obvious - today’s equivalent would be a guy with gender dysphoria trying to be a woman and everyone around him demanding that he be taken seriously……
Apparently the BBC would not tolerate Mary Hinge as a name but allowed Cupid Stunt. Boy were they gullible.
I remember watching this as a kid but didn't remember the name, can't believe he got away with that! So funny though
+Keith Jones I know Spike Milligan had a character in The Goon Show called Hugh Jamton , rhyming slang Hugh Hamton, Hamton Wick. = prick. And none of the bosses at the BBC ever picked up on the joke though the listeners got it straight away, that was in the mid-fifties...
Yes. I did not realize that the character name was a spoonerism.
Page 192 of the book "Cupid Stunts - the Life & Radio Times of Kenny Everett" by David & Caroline Stafford states:
"When Cupid's name caused problems in high places, Barry (Cryer) suggested an alternative spoonerism - Mary Hinge. On balance it was considered safer to stick with Cupid Stunt. The Radio Times got round the problem by referring to her merely as 'Cupid'. And by series two her fame had outgrown the spoonerism..."
@@TheAbraxasNexus .....probably the BBC controllers/managers etc didn't get it either!!!!
His reading of the auto cue makes it even funnier. Genius.
Bless your ❤️ Kenny. Rest in Paradise. 🌞🌄💚🎶📺📽️🎬
Total genius. Love the guy RIP
So funny, and fair play to Parkinson for having such a good sense of humor...
just watched this again, in absolute tears of laughter, no one could do that but our Kenny, so sadly missed by all he came across (in the best possible taste of course) a total genius that this shithole of a world could really do with now.
Brilliant! loved the Kenny Everett show growing up
... except that it never did, and that was the beauty of it 😂
RIP kenny, we all come and then we go but you put on a fantastic show.
we need a kenny now tv has become blaa, safe and quickly forgettable
Lovely... much missed. Thank you for posting this vid
Started watching this when I was 2/3 years old with my mom, I adored Kenny everette, and loved Cupid stunt and Sid snot. Only ever felt devastated by two celebrity deaths, Kenny everette and Eric Morecambe. Harmless comic who'd probably end up cancelled by this generation. So glad I was born when I was so I could enjoy a childhood and teenage years that never read too much into everything we saw. He really was an amazing man
Shame he's gone. Anyway. He is an icon. Bless him
Legend
@@jameswallace9127 Which one? Parky or Kenny Everett?
@@turnman02 Both
@@jameswallace9127 I used to watch Parky regularly, he was a great interviewer. I don't think I missed an episode of Kenny Everetts tv shows, very funny man. I loved Captain Kremmen of the Star Corps, taking the piss out of almost every sci-fi ever made, brilliant stuff !!!! Unfortunately, in today's world of political correctness gone waaaay too far, great humour is going to be harder & harder to find
Pure comedy gold! Quite possibly one of my all time favourite comedy moments
Kenny .... What a Legend !!! Miss you !!!
A comic genius and a great DJ, so missed.
I loved this when I was a child. I used to do the legs throws.
I nearly had a fit laughing the first time I saw Cupid.......Have to admit though, it took me a while to realise Cupid Stunt was what she was !!!
One of the Best Entertainers of all time, RIP Kenny Everett.
oh yes...irreplaceable.
what a loss....
@@ellioshiem7892 Loss?.. Was he not sniffing cocaine and partying out with Freddie Mercury all the he could back in the day?!... Idk but... Was a sad ending to both of them.
@@Bone74838 both died of Aids....tragic...
This cured my Saturday morning hangover!! Thanx so much for posting this, and to all the Everett fans - you rock!!
Very sad that it was Parkinson has died, I can imagine a reunion interview with Kenny Everett as Cupid Stunt in the afterlife.
brilliant miss kenny
Absolutely fabulous
Kenny was a unique and very funny man, I don't think there will ever be another quite like him.
How I miss the one and only, fabulous Kenny.
i was brought up watching this guy in the late 70's/early 80's, but most of it didn't make sense, now it really does make sense of what he was trying to say, and to make it comedy was brilliant, ITV took a huge risk, but it paid off
Thanks for posting. I’d forgotten how good Kenny Everett really was.
Amazing that this was 30 years ago - doesn't seem like it!
Came here after hearing the sad news of Michaels passing. Both legends
I was born in 79, and i can remember clearly sitting watching The Kenny Everett Show as a kid, and laughing my arse off, even though i was only about 3 or 4... not because i actually got the jokes, but because he was just always a funny funny man. Running around with giant hands, dressed as a woman with a beard, these are things that any kid will find hilarious. And because my parents would be laughing of course. For someone who has been dead for over 30 years he is still in my mind
On BBC Radio 4 just now ( 24 July 2012 ) a disc jockey apparently of renown called Christian O Connell , just said ( and not in his opinion) something to this effect “ Steve Wright was the first DJ on British radio whom was irrelevant and sarcastic and had hilarious characters “ . He was speaking of his influences in the 1980s which is fair enough but for someone of his apparent experience in this country, I find his statement not only to be misinformed but bloody bollocks and untrue. With respect to Steve Wright , Everett was around years before and wasn’t half as sanitised as Kenny and as far as I’m aware , has never outraged or been sacked then re- employed by anyone. There’s no comparison. It’s like equating Robin Williams with Micheal Macintyre. Ken was a pathfinder for guys like Adrian Juste and Steve Wright. Young folk it’s a fact . 🏴❤️
I was higly bumming out and I laughed so hard...... thanks Kenny :)
And Thank you for the upload! ♥
Ahead of his time by at least a decade at any point in his career. R.I.P Kenny.
Absolute quality Kenny such a talent
Legend!!!!❤❤❤
never gets old
Good on ya Kenny, you may no longer be with us, but the laughter you brought us,
will live on 4-ever. r.i.p.
Cupid Stunt - amazing name! Would he get away with this today?? I hope so. COMIC GENIUS!!!! R.I.P.
I've got Parkinson's disease...I keep getting attacked by a f*
Mary Hinge? That's brilliant. Thank you, you gave me a good belly laugh before turning in for the night by telling me that :-)
I loved Kenny Everett he was so funny
Only on British TV - the best
R.I.P. Michael!! 😪❤
I don’t think we’ll ever see Kenny’s like again - he was an absolute genius - and it was all in the worst possible taste 😆
I remember where I was when I heard Kenny had died. Sad.
I tuned into 'This Morning',(yeah,I know, sad),& Katherine Kelly, formerly of Coronation St. was talking about a docu-film in which she plays Lee,Kenny's wife which is supposed to be on tv tonight but for the life of me I couldn't find it.Kenny was the master of his craft. From Gizzard Puke to Cupid Stunt & all the characters inbetween he made your ribs ache.I had the pleasure of meeting him once, just for a few minutes, but it's one thing I'll always remember. He was a joy.
I really miss Kenny he was a comedy genius and the world is a less funny place without him.
Genius. Way over the audience's head
It's canned laughter
The best ..... they will never be another xxxxxxxxxx 3❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Genius the late and great Kenny Everett, super-star.
Priceless ke fab as always but hats off to mp both brilliant
Loved Kenny - Ms Cupid Stunt (always the best possible (4:43) possible taste) - a priceless original.
Watching this has (seriously) made me look into getting the necessary....'accoutrements' I'd need to be Kenny as Cupid Stunt For 🎃 this year
This is great footage, just before Cupid met her 7th husband, Willy Sanker
Cupid Stunt would fit in this day and age....
Years ahead of his time, and when he does the leg twirl I think of Angela Rayner for some reason.
2:37 - Every time he crosses his legs in that way just makes me laugh so much. In Stupid's words, "all done in the best possible taste".
It's Cupid Stunt! You eejit
RIP Michael This is my most love interview
how great would it have been to have a comic face off between 'cupid stunt' Kenny and 'Dame Edna Everage' Barry..Humphries that is..would have sold my soul to see that happen ;)
+Ian Tom Jackson how so?
so funny its just tv you can not do again, thanks for this
Brilliant! Kenny was amazing!
didn't she just win eurovision?!?!
All in the best POSSIBLE taste!!
Watching this in 2022...we now have "women" who actually look like Cupid Stunt, complete with beard!
Kenny was ahead of his time 😂😂
Amazing to think this was 40 years ago! 😳😁
Oh my God , I JUST got the Cupid Stunt joke!! I can't believe they got away with that!!
I know, and the BBC told him his original name of Mary Hinge was too rude.
(sorry for the delay in answering) - Yes, I was one of the others. It sits behind me in a rack, here in my "den" where I'm retired to Thailand. "Snot Rap" - by Sid Snot and Cupid Stunt (with Kenny dressed as both!) I just looked at it. Brings the Old Days back!
Bloody brilliant
Absolutely classic!
It's on iplayer now just watched it yesterday it was good.
Saddest loss of 1995
The BBC wouldn't let him call a character Mary Hinge, but Cupid Stunt? No problem!
I remember Kenny and thought he was hilarious, but I just think it was because he was a different type of drag act. He came along at the same time as Benny hill an the carry on films, no one cares if a guy acted camp or a woman acted butch. I've never cared about "different people" in fact it made us care less in the 80's or 90's....now everything is political and how people feel rather than it be just as it was, were all the fucking same!!!!
