I love the way that even though you gave the set 9 out of 10 you still gave attention to the few negatives in a constructive way Many, many TH-camrs could learn a thing or two about reviewing products from your excellent channel. Thank you.

Thank you for your wonderful, detailed review Bud. I wrote The Shire and Adventures supplements - a literal dream come true for me personally. I am unashamed to say I wept tears of joy when I landed this job. Your affection for the work shines through and it heartens me to hear you talk so kindly of the home of the small folk.

Excellent review and found myself nodding along with many of your comments. The decision to base the starter set in the Shire may not be to everyone's taste, but I've found in playing it works really well and I guess hope is you take on more wide ranging, world impacting adventures after that, there is a LOT packed into the main rules and of course the setting to do just this.

I really liked the comparison between TOR starter set and typical sets as between a single meal and a tasting board, very apt. You can get a good idea of the full game's quality from this starter but it's still only a narrow slice.

    Hey bud,
I Was wondering if you have any videos on your Patreon or anywhere that goes more in-depth on how to run modules. I am trying to run viscid from delta green and am struggling with how to tie events and NPCs together for the players. I saw your review of the operation, and it helped a lot, however its still just a little confusing.
Thanks for all the awesome content.

I don’t have any of those videos… yet. I am currently working on Bud’s guide to running Impossible Landscapes but that won’t be ready until after Christmas. That will be a Patreon/YT member exclusive.
      .
Alternatively, follow me on Twitter and you will get input from lots of people.

I had a similar experience with reading the books. Took me many tries to get through The Hobbit and even more effort to get through The Lord of the Rings. Years later, I listened to it as a giant audio book and that was...fine. I just don't respond well to the writing. Yet, I find the setting compelling. I'm not much of a Fantasy guy, and I especially don't like all the clearly Tolkien-riff Fantasy settings, yet I do find Middle Earth interesting and have always wanted to play an RPG set in it. I played a very brief game of The One Ring a year or two ago, but I didn't like it. I'm curious to see if I'd enjoy the 2nd Ed more, but not sure when I'll get a chance.

Bud - I had similar problems reading lord of the rings. It's about 1200 pages, and I think (most of) the first 200 and last 200 pages are so tough to get through. Between that it's great! But I totally get not wanting to go through that :p
Thanks for the review too! Super in-depth as always!
