I'm a 64 year old T6 complete for 46 years with some shoulder injuries too. It's great to see someone in my situation post these videos. Watching the younger guys or incomplete injuries do the transfers just doesn't apply to my situation. I loved watching you raise the seat up and lower the back of the seat, I've started to have to do that too. Since I drive a Solara, which is not as low as your car, I haven't needed the transfer board yet but I can see that I'll need it in the future. Thanks for the fantastic video!
Bill, we are all so different. Even someone with the same level of injury can be wildly different from the next guy/gal. So glad you enjoyed the video! You are been at it longer than I so all the best to you my fellow warrior! Stay strong!
That was truely amazing video. I have worked on many adapted vehicles so people can drive, but never realised, wrong, never thought about how different aspects of the car and chair design effects how someone using a wheelchair would get in and out of a vehicle. Great video, I feel better informed and great positive conversation. Thanks.
Fascinating video, James! Thanks for sharing! I often wondered how you transferred in and out of the car. You can get in and out of the 928 better than I can! 😂
Andy, Glad you enjoyed it! You crack me up bro! They are certainly low cars and a challenge even for spry able bodied folks to get in and out of. You should see me trying to get out of 360's and other low mid engined cars! It isn't as hard as getting in the high cars, but it is a laugh for sure!
Phenomenal! Great demonstration. I’m fortunate to be able to get by with a hemi-walker in my 911, but I use the same power seat adjustment technique. Like you, I could probably drive a wheelchair van and save the hassle, but like you I enjoy Porsches. Very inspiring, and very cool cars.
