Fun fact: This song was the last audio session to be recorded! It was done by Didi Conn and Mark Baker IN ONE TAKE. Didi, Ann's voice, only auditioned because she originally thought the film was a voice over commercial.
According to Didi Conn in the book about the production of this movie, the song actually took a good amount of takes. This is primarily because, as you said before, this was the last bit to be recorded. Everyone loved working on the movie, so they were sad to see themselves at the end of recording. It got to the point where Joe Raposo (the composer) stepped into the recording booth to help out both Didi and Mark Baker (Andy) emotionally Notably, when Ann said "Times get bad but I don't worry, 'cause I know you'll see me through," Didi looked over to Raposo, and they felt a strong emotional connection. When Ann and Andy sang the final "Close to you," which was therefore the final line recorded, Joe Raposo started crying.

Sometimes even I think of such things at age 20, but you have to remember that you've only lived one quarter of your life. There's still plenty of time to find someone, but remember it takes more than just waiting for the one to arrive at your door. Personally I just haven't found anyone I could understand, don't think I'll ever will. Still, a guy can dream... Take care out there and remember to love what you currently have as well. Your friends, family and the things you enjoy. Have a good weekend!
Andy is right in trying to protect Ann, she indeed must be protected at all costs! But really they are the perfect representation of Yin and Yang complementing each other, theirs is really a bond too strong to be broken.

That’s rough, I’m sorry. Finding yourself again is the best way to deal with a breakup. Rediscovering who you are outside of a relationship is the healthiest thing you can do for yourself and whoever you feel like opening your heart to in the future. Be kind to yourself and let the feelings flow.
