Today we convert the new 144002 from brushed to brushless!
You may have seen my last video where I mentioned I was unhappy with WLTOYS at the moment due to cogging issues with the new models and false speed claims that they keep printing on the box.
They promise the 144002 will do 50kph out of the box but when I tested it and did a speed run I only achieved 38.6kph which was disappointing.
Today we will convert the 144002 to brushless and then take it back out and see how it performs.

Overall the truck performs so much better with this brushless setup.
I only ran 2s today but I am very interested to see how it performs on 3s!

I'm back!! Apologies for not posting in over 10 days I have been unwell and unable to get out and film but I am finally back and have some amazing videos lined up! This conversion really gave the 144002 a much needed power upgrade! Today was just a quick speed run and test so not a huge amount of running footage but I will be taking this back to the skatepark for some proper durability testing once the lower kv motor arrives to get rid of all cogging issues!

I've been looking at this truck for a bit. I received the 124019 last week and the front and rear riffs were very well greased. Maybe they heard the call?

@@beyondRC the receiver just caught fire earlier today. Luckily the vendor will ship me a new one. Ever here of that?

Excellent, I have used the same motor 4200kv (surpass 3660) and 120a max10 SCT Hobbywing on 3s fitted to a FTX heavily modded vantage based chassis and got this to 68mph in just a few seconds with the steel spur and 28t pinion., there's a slight cogging on pull off but nothing that can stop it from pulling off. It's a little bit crazy and runs a little hot. I love that you can get this to 55mph and still be handleable 😀
The mount and smaller gear from the 124017 V2 would probably be perfect with that motor, I might try and get that set up...
Apart from the mounting holes being the wrong size for a 540....
I just remembered I have an adjustable 540 mount for wl toys in a box somewhere though

If you use a 24mm or 28mm can motor, you can drill out the smaller (19t?) pinion. It's a very lightweight conversion and matches high KV, small motors well. I have a 5900kv in my 124019 and it works really well.

This may sound like a dumb question because I'm fairly new to RC but I just ordered this little truck I was curious how come a 3s LiPo battery wouldn't the possibility for a major power increase before going brushless 1st?
Is it that 3S not compatible w the stock servo/& or 550 brushed motor maybe?
Anyway thank you in advance, please keep up the good work with the practical upgrades and bar RC's you feature and review so often.
the stock electrics dont take too well to 3s. Brushed setups heat up very quickly on 3s and it almost always kills the motors due to huge increase in heat.

3650 3100 KV platinum + 120 Amp ESC + 3S has no cogging at all but totally crazy overpowered, I love it but I do prefer 2848 / 3100 KV + stock pinion or 2838 + 17 T pinion because they can jump higher and more agile on track.
would a 3650 3100KV + 60 amp ESC 2S(maybe 3S) be good for a 124018 ? I'm afraid of overheating and cogging .

Hello , mr beyondrc . Lately my rc 124019 got cogging after upgrading to brussless surpass motor 4370kv . And 60A esc . What i need to fix ? Buy new motor which is 3100kv motor ?
a lower KV motor would definitely help as its high gearing!
That esc is more expensive than the truck lol, epic speeds though I do wonder how long these wltoys cars will last with brushless power.
Haha definitely close in price 😂! With properly greased diffs and maintenance they hold up pretty well. Lots of people getting 100mph+ out of them!!
144002 and 104009, which one is better? I can only buy one 😕
104009 is larger but both will be lots of fun. I guess it comes down to personal preference :)

Good to have you back fella! Starting to think WL toys aren't so good anymore. You made it rapid though! Do you see any of the HBX stuff coming in the future? Their stuff seems good value now.

😂mate that’s insane now, it’s like a totally different model, it looked crazy on the high speed run. I think this video is going to be very popular, you made me want to get one soon as I saw the high speed portion of the video 😂
Well my latest video of the running and destruction on the EAT14 has flopped not sure why, the running video can’t be that bad surely so either those haters are back or people don’t like the honesty and seeing a model crashed and being destroyed because of it, who knows, lol time I got some more helicopters and planes I think or get the big bashers out.. how the 100+mph model project going mate?
I would recommend one if you have the intentions to convert to brushless. In its stock form its a little boring and docile but like this its another animal!! its not you mate or anyone against you its just youtube and its algorithm. We will have a proper chat about it soon. It's at a standstill at the moment more than likely until the spring now as the list of other things to do before is pretty long! Not forgotten and will be doing it for sure! Cheers Marc

WLToys seem to be getting a pretty hard time lately, with their new models with the same old issues (no grease in the diffs, super superglue on all the motor screws), and it's interesting to see new common issues coming on top of the old ones (clogging on brushless cars). I have a 144001, and love it. I have seen some aftermarket adjustable motor mounts, but none of them work without modifications!! WLToys are obviously not listening!!
On the theme of brushless conversions, my son burned out the motor on his Zorro last week, so that's now running a 3900kv Surpass Hobby combo, and it now goes like a scalded cat!! Time will tell on the longevity of the gears!! 😎👍🏻

Why not go sensored and not worry about cogging, it's so much smoother my 001 is so much more enjoyable.
Absolutely. Sensored systems sometimes cost a bit more and i do like to try and keep it simple, cost effective on the channel to try and appeal to the masses. You are 100% Correct this would probably solve the issue.

The disadvantage of this model. Can't find the body. And he is very fragile in the cold.... mb are there analogues?
Try some flex seal that's the same color of the interior of the shell to make the shell a lot more durable and impact resistant.
