Easy N249 Diverter Valve Replacement

The diverter valve in Audi cars, also known as a bypass valve or recirculation valve, is a crucial component of the turbocharging system. Its main function is to control the flow of air within the turbo system, especially when the throttle is closed. Here are the primary uses of the diverter valve:
-Protection of the Turbocharger: When the throttle is suddenly closed, such as during gear changes, the pressure in the turbocharging system increases rapidly. The diverter valve opens to release the excess pressure, protecting the turbocharger from damage.
-Improving Engine Response: By recirculating the air instead of releasing it into the atmosphere, the diverter valve helps maintain the turbocharger's rotational speed, improving the engine's response during acceleration.
-Reducing Turbo Lag: By maintaining higher pressure in the intake system, the diverter valve minimizes turbo lag, which is the delay in power delivery from the turbocharger.
In Audi vehicles, as well as in many other modern cars with turbocharging, diverter valves are essential components that ensure the efficient operation of the turbo system and protect its components.
Required tools:
H5 male (valve 3 screws)
Flat screwdriver (to remove the bottom cover)
There is very easy access from the bottom of the car, the valve is located near the turbocharger
Steps:
1. remove bottom cover
2. disconnect negative terminal of the battery, to avoid electrical issues.
3. remove 3 screws holding diverter valve with H5
