Hello! Ciro here. So this was a dream come true, finally, finally, finally getting to drive the Cars.co.za SentiMetal BMW 325is Evo 1. And I got to do it on track, which is fitting as this is one of the most iconic motorsport homologation specials ever produced in South Africa.
The 325is is now a living legend. With an engine tuned by Alpina, lightweight aluminium panels, the suspension from the BMW E30 M3 and more power from its stroked 2.7-litre inline-6 motor, the car has become known affectionately as "The Gusheshe" - which simply means very fast.
As I found out on the day, it isn't particularly fast by modern standards. But it is utterly superb to drive, offering a driving experience that is just simply not available from modern cars.
I do hope you enjoy watching me rattle on about this wonderful car. Fair warning: I get a bit emotional at the end.

That noise....that beautiful noise. Legendary. Could hear that in the distance and you knew it was a 325......Not like today where everything sounds the same.....and bangs and pops are considered cool. Great video. Gonna watch it again. :-)
The only sound I don’t mind hearing for hours. My love for the beemer came from this car, the sound. Gusheshe & Matchbox were the IT in the 90’s 😎
Geewhiz I feel Nostalgic after this video. My E30 was stolen but it's the best driving car I ever had. Nothing compares to it.

32 Gijima. Born in Germany and raised in Soweto, Isandla semfene, Ithemba lamahumusha namahumushakazi, (Only people from the township will know what I'm talking about). This car has a legendary status in South Africa, especially in kasi. - The opel was called Bonjovi.
I owned a company in the 80s and 90s that fitted car alarms / and radios!! So we always had these beautiful machines on our floors!! Occasionally I would take one out !! What a machine to drive!!
Man!!! What a smooth engine!!! You can literally feel the soul of the car through the exhaust note! One of BMW's very best, ever!
Greetings from Bergvliet, Cape Town. When you mentioned that you used to own a 4 door 320i E30 it took me back to when my dad used to own and drive a 1991 325i E30, also as a 4 door. He used it as his daily car and it also doubled up as the family car at the time. It was sadly stolen in 2001 and then we moved on to other cars after that.
My friend had one first year of Varsity. Doors did not lock. He used to make donuts in front of the bus taking students to town. That car was a real peach.

Whoever restored this car did a great job ,what a beautiful machine
the rev limit on these cars is even more special , the way the engine manages to maintain this is amazing, whats even better is that you can stroke the average m20 to a 2.9L, the engine bay can easily support a e36 m3 engine even a m5 e28,its just so versatile
Good old days. My cousin had a 325is turbo and a Superboss. I resperte alot these cars. Old Times! The 90s were cool.....😎😎😎
Awesome video, thank you. Brings a tear to my eye, I still miss my E30 320i (with the executive pack too!) and I rue the day I sold it 😭 probably been stolen and wrecked by spinning like most E30's seem to end up as a sad fate.

Hey guys this is my first video i ever watched from you guys. I have to say I am blown away your review of this car is the type of review i love. You were so engaged and the car noises and music was perfect. I don’t know if you’ll ever read my comment. But even though I am from USA I would love to see you guys do a similiar review of this style with the 333i. Pleaseeeee. South Africa is one of my dream locations to visit. My favorite and Best world cup (2010) and my dream e30 (333i). Blessings.

My uncle had a 333i and my dad said it was a phenomenal car !
Even my 15 year e90 320i handles better than some brand new cars (its slow cause its a 4 cyl sedan, but it handles like a dream)
I still want to get a e30 one day !

I have a Passat at the moment with 36kw more power but does not provide the same handling and feeling as the iS. They are more balanced than most all other cars. They are more planted than most all other cars. So, when guys spin or drift in these cars, I don't think it's as risky as a lot of people think it might be. It's more like an illusion of being out of control.It's very easy to get back in control of these cars. The best way to explain it is to compare them to Weeble toys. Weebles Wobble, but they don't fall down.

There are not many cars that are easier and more predictable to drive than an E30.
My former Boss has 1 that is in absolutely Mint Condition...Still absolutely stock standard...He said "He is happy that he dont have a Son,otherwise it would be pimped out" lol

Evo 2 again an evolution on the Evo 1
There is only 1 Evo. The fist 325is 2.7 145kw was not an Evo. The 155kw 325is 2.7 is the one and only Evo. There is no Evo2.

I once owned 325is evolution 2 n some otjer Indian guy fro polokwane gave me the offer i can't refuse that time😥😥now am regreting i feel like crying everytime i c it.
I bought it by R65k in 2007 and the guy gave me R150k in 2008 😥

I am so disappointed by BMW factory for not manufacturing this car that has a long history on us in South Africa. Pls BMW owners bring back this car as it was. I am not a rich guy but definitely I will buy it.

Hi there I know I may get my head bitten of but how do you expect a car like that to respond quick when you drive it like a polo no double clucth revs are low then you compare the might m20 2.7 with a turbod vw engine helped by a dsg my brother I would pay money to see that polo take on an m88 e28 M5 engine

Iwas still in high school. Iam glad you have a poopup shop in Carnal Walk. This means someone can look upon the car and say look idid see the car! Can you imagine? Iwish you had your radio off as there was music which did have me to say as such I wish to hear this car bud now iam herrinng music and noise. No thanks. Let’s move on.
