- Adventure Vlog #29: (filmed April 2022) The long-awaited Subaru build-out is finally here! I cannot even begin to express my gratitude towards my friends for helping me build my dream subie platform! They wish to remain anonymous, so I shall not name any names. But you know who you are, and from the bottom of my heart, I thank you! You gave me a place to live whilst I transitioned from Nebraska to Colorado, and along with that, plenty of adventures and memories too :)
Here's to all the adventures to come!
Stay safe, do good, be good, and keep on keeping on!
p.s. Another shout out to They Adventure on TH-cam for this Subaru platform inspiration!
You are amazing
You are kind, thank you!
I think this may be the best build I've seen / simple design and you didn't tear out the back seats - plenty room for storage under the platform and easily removable - I am in the planning stages of building out our 2016 Roo Forester - your vid was great - THANKS - sub left and good luck -
Thanks so much! Yea, I didn’t want to have to take the seats out or deal with any of that. Just wanted something simple and functional 😄 best of luck on your build out!
Nice setup
Thanks! 😄
Great job with the platform. So, my only thing here is accessibility. For the most part you need to open one of the doors or rear hatch to access your storage. To solve this you can cut hatches into the platform either using hinges or just tabs to hold the covers in place.
Thanks for the advice! I considered that idea. But decided against it. I designed my platform this way because I wanted a bed-like space on top of the platform as well as storage for my window covers under the “bed”. So including hatches on top wasn’t worth it for me. I’ll make a video showing my layout in more detail one of these days 😄
love it. mine will be similar but one of my platforms will be cut in half so i can remove it if i want and be able to pull up one rear seat while keeping the bigger one down so i can still sleep with one seat up when by myself
Ooo that’s such a great idea!!! Definitely a hassle if I want my seats up- so I have just left my platform in this whole time haha
I have a Forester and though I have no travel plans, short camping trips would be fun. I live vicariously through videos like these. I live in Utah and camping in the national parks here in the back like my niece has done in her outback would be nice!
Utah is a beautiful state! So many places to car camp!
Great to see. Love your appreciation for your friends. Can see you are over the moon with this
Thanks so much!! Could not have done it without them! :)
This is great! Now i want to see a video of all your bins and how you maximized the space for what you need, bedding, etc and how you get in and out once the hatch is closed. 👍
Thank you!! 😄 What an awesome idea!!!! I’ll definitely have to do a walk through and show how I organized everything!! Adding it to my video content list! Thanks Kris! 🧡
Good luck. I live in my Subaru crosstrek with my 2 dogs and cat 😅🐕🐩🐈⬛😮💨😂
Niicceeee!!! 👌👌👌 What’s your biggest challenge whilst living in your crosstrek with two dogs and a cat? And what is your favorite part about it?
That's bonkers. In a good way
Great work but I would love to see how you built the first panel where it joined to the second panel that had hinges so the first panel has no hinges but what is it resting on? 👍🏼
Thanks! I’ll have to do another video explaining everything in more detail 😄 the front portion is held on with a piano hinge and then has two pieces of wood it rests on- but showing ya in a video will be much easier to explain haha
WOW! Nice job! It looks so good!!
Thank you!!!! And thanks so much for the inspiration! Could not have done it without you 🤗🧡
@@rens.adventure So good to see you supporting fellow overlanders
Ice been car camping in my old subaru .
Been waiting on senoir apartment over 4yrs
Looks like next month I'll be placed with an apartment. Ground floor with covered garage
Car camping is amazing- such an easy set up/take down with not having to set up a tent and such. I love tent camping as well, but car camping has been my go-to recently with my heart condition. Hope you’ve gotten settled into your new apt!
Very nice video!!! I too have a Subaru. I haven't done a build out yet, I have just put some things in it.
I tell people, " I just want to live in my car!"
Thank you!!! I love having a Subaru! And building it out made for the best summer of my life! It was so fun to live and camp out of it!!! Hope you have some epic adventures in your subie! 🤙
I actually car camped in my 20 year old Subaru Baja for the first time last year. We did Michigan, Illinois and Missouri. I had to give her up this spring. I’m now looking at a replacement. I haven’t settled on which yet. Anyone here have advice on whether to get a Forester, Crosstrek or Ascent.
Nice! Car camping is the best! 😄 I personally think the Crosstrek is too small. I think the Forester would give you the most space, but I also am not familiar with the Ascent, so that one might be good too! Let us know which one you go with and if you like it 😄
New to your channel and loving your setup. Such a simple yet useful built. Question... and I've been wondering a while now after seeing so many people adding a platform in the trunk... If the case of a flat tire, would you basically have to empty out the entire setup, possibly on the side of a busy road/freeway, in order to get to the spare? Sorry to be such a naysayer...
Thanks so much! Glad you are enjoying my channel and my subie set up! And yes, you are correct. If I get a flat I would have to take out the back half of my platform to get to the tire underneath unfortunately. But at least I wouldn't have to take out the whole thing!
I don't understand how the two big boards are connected. Look like they are connected by a black piano hinge, but how does that work if you want your back seats up?
You are correct! We used a piano hinge. If I want my back seats up then I need to take out the front portion of the platform and stack it on the back part
this is so awesome!! I cannot wait to see more...are you going to add curtains to your windows?
Thanks so much!!! 🤗 one of these days I’ll post a video of my entire set up! I used Weather Tech window covers- one side keeps the cool in, the other side keeps the heat in. They’re great!
@@rens.adventure thats some next level stuff! sounds amazing
What model Subaru is this ?
Subaru Outback Premium- can’t go wrong with an Outback! They are so versatile and great adventure cars 😄
