At 1:44:00 the bark of the greenskin Black Orc Big Boss leader echoed across the battlefield: "Shape up you filthy maggots! I want no squeelin' long as da boss is alive." The entire lightning-fried and half-slaughtered orc & goblin army proceeds to rally, and the black orc boss cuts across the Skaven center (with the crucial help of the chariot) to clinch the Orc & Goblin victory, somehow. Awesome battle report man. You are seriously the best on TH-cam at these.
Just two bits of advice! - For Kristoff (please correct me if I'm mispelling it!), in case you didn't know, when casting the Vermintide spell you are allowed to throw it in any direction, as long as it travels in a straight line. So it doesn't have to be straight forward ;) you could have easily hit the rocklobba for instance. - For Stos; the pig wagon didn't have to test panic when flank charged by the stormvermin. The panic test for charge flank when engaged in combat only procs if the unit being charged has already fought at least one round of combat, which was not the case. As always, super fun batrep, keep them coming =)
Just had a read of the rule and the only requirements are that the charged unit was in close combat at the start of the turn and is being charged by a unit of at least unit str 5. nothing about them having to have fought a round of combat. Cheers mate!

Stumbled on the channel just yesterday, subscribed after first 10 minutes of Slannesh army showcase and already watched a couple of previous games. Nice to see U playing my favorite edition, as there is nobody in my region who would play the old WH, so at least I can watch. Also a greenskin player, but I only have goblins in my list, lots of laughter when whole army just runs away after 1st round of shooting :D
Great report 👍 So many panic tests for the orcs!! I had an Orc & goblin army for 7th edition. I used to take 3 units of savage orcs for my core units. They were so good. Immune to psychology, extra choppas (+1 Str in first rnd) & champion, 6 models wide .... x19 attacks at Str4
Thank you guys for another great battle report. What a tough scenario to play and it does sound crazy that this wasn't a Skaven victory: Orc left flank completely smashed and two big units in the deployment zone at the end, it should be enough...
Glad you enjoyed it mate! I agree that it felt like it should be a Skaven victory. I might look at adjusting the win conditions for next time. Maybe allow characters to score, or set the point limit to a quarter rather then a third. 🤔
@@rogueelementgaming Yeah it would be nice to find a way to adjust it that felt right. Did you do a third of the total points, or a third of the total point minus characters (a third of what can actually count)?
I got like 9k points of 40k orks and have been playing it for a while but this channel has inspired me to purchase a metal grimgore, a unit of black orcs, a unit of boys and some arrer boys- also currently in a bidding war for an orc shaman.... so we'll see how that goes. Hoping to find someone to play some whfb with cuz this game looks really fun.
Nice battle report, awesome to see the Skaven back at it! As a Skaven and O&G player this is my favorite lineup by far! :) One thing to note (1:41:10): Plague can jump 6" from _any_ unit affected during the Magic phase, so any nonaffected unit within 6" of any affected unit is fair game!
@@rogueelementgaming The gutter runners are within 6" of the Black orcs, which had been affected during this magic phase, so they are a valid target and the plague could jump there if you chose to :) You played that the Plague jumps from its latest host to any non affected unit within 6", but the spell text states that it can jump from any previously affected host, not just the latest. Does that make sense?
Love the turn around from "this army is OP" to "umm... Yeah" exemplifies what I love about Orcs and Goblins, the swinging risk/reward is what makes em! Just compare the damage inflicted by the fanatics in the two batreps as a case in point!
Great game as usual I looked into the Warp Lightning Cannon because of how generally odd it is- It's a M5 chariot that can march, and always flees, even from pursuit and overrun moves. That may have saved the Gutter Runners. Also, the whole double-charging, as happened with the Chariot and Storm Vermin is weird. I found the answer on page 16 of the 2002 Warhammer Annual, but that really doesn't help much. The short answer seems to be that the first charger- the Chariot- goes first, but can only target the Weapon Team (which died to impact hits). Then the Storm Vermin attack. Then the Chariot gets to make any attacks it hasn't yet- but if targeting the Storm Vermin it gets no charge bonuses. Suitably weird?
@@rogueelementgaming thanks, yes I enjoyed it very much! Fun to see that you took on the right attitude with the greenskins, a bit different to when you play your Dwarfs. I'd be happy to see a rematch with your Dwarfs against Christophe's Skaven army, even if it’s still the same list. I was kind of happy to see the fanatics whiff this time, they've been brutal in some of the other battles! I think leaving the Madcap Mushrooms out is a bit better, otherwise they can swing the game a bit much. Then again that can be fun too. :) Oh, doesn't matter, but 4 is definitely more than a quarter out of 13 as I'm sure you both know. ;)
Great video as always! But..... Death Frenzy causes damage to any unit affected at the end of each skaven turn, got to take every rat kill you can! Skaven only FLEE 2d6+1. They pursue/overrun 2d6 as normal. While your chariot does strike first against the weapon team if you wish to direct attacks against the stormvermin (which you can if you chose, although obviously not the impact hits) then the stormvermin would go first. Also the pigs on a chariot can't attack units in the flank or rear... Finally warp lightning cannons always flee when charged, even when pursued or overrun into. Not that it looks like any of these would prevented any of the FUN induced by amusing dice!
The death frenzy was played correctly. Death Frenzy has two possible effects: if cast on a regular unit it gives them frenzy with no effects beyond that. If cast on a unit that is already frenzied (from this spell previously cast on them or any other reason) they will now be subject to Death Frenzy which grants +2 attacks but causes the unit to take damage every turn. Since no units ever got.the Death frenzy condition no wounds were taken. You are 100% correct on skaven not pursuing 2d6+1 though.
Hey guys, lovely battle (again)! The scenario is indeed very tough, especially if you only count units on not characters. A few things that made me wonder: 1. Wasn't the Skaven Frenzy spell a Remains in Play Spell? 2. @Stos: Have you considered making your two hand weapon Orc unit Big'Unz? Seems more reasonable to me, as their output would increase by a lot. I know, that the current approach is a bit more balanced, but thats how i would play them ;) Same idea goes for the Black Orcs, maybe try them with two hand weapons? 3. Why the Black Orc General instead of a Hero? Just for the Ld9? I know, that you have a very narrative ridden approach with your armies, but wouldn't it be better to place your combat character in a unit which just delivers rank and file (like a normal orc unit with shields?). Your normal approach seems a bit to much like "all eggs in one basket" 4. Do you have Piggy Riders assembled? If yes - Please give them a shot next time, with their Wolf riding friends (aka cavalry list). Until next time, FA.
Thanks mate! I go hand weapon and shield to get the benefit of the +1 str on charge from the Choppas rule. I don't have Boar Boyz assembled but I did just get some, and very much plan to do an all cavalry and chariot list at some point.
For the Death Frenzy spell: no, it specifically states that it isn't a spell that remains in play. It simply "toggles on" frenzy which then remains until the unit loses combat as per the normal frenzy rule. Considering only.grey seers get the spell it would be difficult to get the double frenzy effect from it otherwise.
Awesome game, Stos & Christophe! Cool to see you try the Blorc boss this time, Stos! Perhaps consider putting him on the opposite flank of the Black Orcs, though? The whole strength of the character, apart from their high LD and Str, seems to be the quell animosity? If you put the boss among a regular unit of orc boys you have 2 quell bubbles instead of one, for more control of the army? Great plays/setup otherwise!
Amazing game mates, and what a terrible luck for the O&G!! Completely frustating...but they managed to get the victory at the end! About rules things, i am not sure you are doing the pursue move correctly. When a unit flees of combat, he does trying to avoid other units, friends or foes, so it is rare to charge when you are pursuing, because you have to follow the same route that the fleeing troop. The only situation you can end up charging in this case is if the space is not enough to move throung without touching other enemy unit, so you charge it. Frecuently, the post-combat charge happens in overrun, where you move straight fordward and it's easy to contact with enemy units
Great game, I know that manic laughter well .. my night goblins are seasoned routers, professional fumblers, frequently get eaten, often get entangled in netting, regulary misfire, suffer mushroom poisoning, miscast and explode, and scream at my stupid trolls that pick their belly buttons, noses, bums, and frequently snooze.
