If the spine of a knife is rounded and won't strike a ferro rod, try using the finger choil to strike with because most of the time, the choil isn't rounded. Also, that forward lanyard hole is really nice compared to the rear position. On the front, if you accidentally release the knife, it won't swing back towards you like it would in the rear position. Looks like a great knife!
I have a knife that the manufacturer ground a square edge on the back of the blade near the handle specifically for using a ferro rod. It's about 3/4 of an inch long.
Received ST-11 yesterday, has a bit of rattle when in the sheath did fall out when held upside down and shook. Just cut my finger. ST-12 sheath is much more secure zero rattle. The ST-11 is a heavy knife so I doubt you’d be running around and jumping around and shake it out of the sheath but a secure fit would be better will see if I can tighten my sheath.
You’re the only video I have seen on this specific knife.
Freak'n SWEET looking knife !

Why not try the jimping?
@texanalphalegionare it could work too, it just usually tears up the rod more than a flat surface would.
