  • I found so many more programs for 1943, that I decided to split it in half. This one covers January to June, and the next video will cover the rest of the year. It seems like this will be the same for the remaining years, so expect many, more hours of WWII news in the near future!

3:27:42 One of the many Admiral Radio ads envisions a world with "television in vivid technicolor" and "may perhaps record a program for you if you happen to be away from home at the time it is broadcast". That's really forward-thinking for 1943.

I just love all these radio broadcasts!!
Being born in 1951 the war was still a very present element of our daily lives.
And when I was a little girl many, many of the prime time TV shows were b&w shows about WW II. (Everything was b&w no matter what they were about)
Stories were plentiful, and we kids were always interested in them.

4:00:11 made me legitimately laugh out loud about three times over the next five minutes. Something I really didn’t think was possible when it comes to death and destruction. Second funniest thing out of all these broadcasts I’ve heard so far besides the bombing of Pearl Harbor being sponsored by a laxative.

During WW2 they msm was all too eager to have America ally with the ussr to fight Hitler as if the ussr wasn’t just as genocidal and imperialistic and authoritarian as Nazi Germany and imperial Japan.

my mom (British) describes it this way - US American's have never had to band together for the greater good, in England, however, they had to during the bomb raids during WW2 (her parents were in London) and if they didn't, IE. if one neighbor said 'screw all of you, I'm staying in my house with the lights on', the block would be bombed, so, they know what it is to need to work together for survival.

If U knew where this map came from U would understand why the omission. The map is a graphic from the series "Why we Fight." The great director Frank Capra was commissioned by the American government to do this series of features for American consumption in movie theatres at the time. The average American would know of England but not Scotland and Wales.
