victoria larson it was 1912 there were usually no photos that these mothers would have. Plus Bobby wasn't out with people they didn't know he was with a family friend. Also I'm not surprised Julie Anderson didn't go to the police as she had given permission to the uncle to take him for a few days so he would just say he gave her permission to have the child cause in 1912 if a woman says one thing and man another the man is going to be believed over an unwed woman. Look at how the media treated her
I thought it was actually Italy that the people dancing 😂 they told me the story in my Italian classes in year 2 and I never forgot about it. I thought it had something to do with a spider bite but I was always confused because wouldn’t dancing pass the venom through the body quicker haha
hi on the notion of tatted babies: in croatia during the war children were getting separated from their parents by the italians and nazis and so parents literally tattooed their small children with very intriciate and specific patterns so that if they ever were separated because of the war, they would be able to find each other when they were older. If you look up traditional croatian tattoos you can see the style of pattern they used :)
I actually met an old woman who was tattooed that way, it was cool but also sad. Also some people in really old times (ottoman empire) tattooed girls so the turks wouldn't take them as slaves (apparently it was taboo to be tattooed in Islam)
What if Shane promises to stop hotdaga if instead there will be #BoogaraGuitara..? Because we probably have to ask them make that kind of deal to get Ryan to play.
Personally I believe that the woman was so beside herself with grief that when she was presented with a child that looks similar she latched onto the idea that this IS her child. Similar to how women who have a still birth become obsessed with caring for those like like baby dolls. They know it's not their baby but they will swear down that it is because the alternative is too much for them to handle.
I feel like Bruce was probably being abused at home- an uncle beating him, a mother not looking for him for forever, etc. He saw an escape from his hard life, and chose to be Bobby Dunbar.

PSA: Ryan said this on Twitter regarding there being no video this past Friday, August 31'st. "Hey folks... just letting you know that the season finale will air NEXT Friday. Also hadn’t it been like 8 months from the time he went missing to the time he was found? Kids grow and change so much at such a young age, I could see how the mother, knowing that, would have trouble being completely certain that was her baby. And like Ryan said, it’s a traumatic event, so I would also take that into consideration
Funny story. My mom lost me in a department store and when she came to the security asking for me, they asked her “what does she look like” and my mom was like she has a giant scar on her forehead and blonde hair and the guy was like “I’m going to need more of a description than that” and my mom literally yelled “HOW MANY BLONDE KIDS WITH GIANT SCARS ON THEIR FOREHEADS DO YOU HAVE BACK THERE.” Let’s just say he delivered me back to my mother within seconds lol
I can't wait for Buzzfeed Unsolved Supernatural. Skinwalker Ranch, the Falcon Lake UFO incident, and the Hoia Baciu forest are all on my investigations wishlist. Hoia Baciu and Skinwalker would be awesome onsites.
Right?? I'm imagining the boys in their element -- Wandering through the forest Blair Witch style. Ryan wheezing into the camera, Shane telling ghosts to kiss his apple taters. It'd be great.
I know this was a year ago but I felt I should add my two cents! I can personally attest to the brain being very bizarre and complex! I went through a really rough time in my life when my best friend took her own life. The odd thing was the moment I got the news it was like most of my memory of her and I together just disappeared. My body grieved and felt sick but my mind still felt extremely disconnected. It’s six years later and I’m FINALLY dealing with it now and starting to get my memories back. Her voice I couldn’t remember until last month. Though I could recognize her face even then it really really wouldn’t have surprised me if (especially in those times) the mother, struck in grief and cycling thoughts met the child and ended up questioning her own recognition abilities with so many details lining up. It’s an odd situation for sure but the mental strain from grief is unpredictable and hard. She might have had a gut feeling that this wasn’t her child but often when we are desperate we become really good at lying to ourselves. Edit: ALSO side note there’s actually a condition that’s not often diagnosed because it doesn’t tend to be a massive issue is the inability to recognize/remember faces. And back then education on mental conditions was severely limited so who knows its possible she had a severe case of it and didn’t realize how important it was until her child was actually lost.
About the fact that she couldn’t immediately recognise her son you have to take into consideration that Bobby would have aged. This was around the ages of 4 and 5, a time where children are developing pretty rapidly. The main thing that caused doubt in the mothers mind was that his eyes looked smaller, this would have happened due to head growth. Regardless of whether the boy was actually bobby or not it is something to take into consideration.
Daisy Dolan also mothers aren't the infallible beings people think they are? Like was said in the episode, Lessie the more middle class (she brought her son a bike and a pony so I assume...) mother was forgiven but the single mom was vilified for not recognising.
Not to be morbid or crude but back in those days people didn't really acknowledge pedophilia as we do today. Most people didn't consider it at all (unless someone was an outed homosexual, not saying homosexuals are pedophiles, just that homophobes choose to think that ). The fact that a non-relative was spending so much time with these children already puts me at unease, and the fact the he had an "affectionate" nickname for Bobby is even creepier. And for the other children that were with him, children are so susceptible they can pretty much be convinced of anything if you say it right or say it to them enough. The weird friend is the reason Bobby went missing IMO
@@TosyaChan That's literally not true. Children are easily convinced that they should hide things to protect either the abuser, themselves or something of the like. They can be manipulated by being told it's the right thing do to, by being threatened or by being indoctrinated. They can be manipulated easily because they have such little framwork to base their morals, tactics and world views on.
I guess it depends on family dynamics though. And social circles in those days were a lot different than they are today. That guy taking all the children out didn't seem creepy to me. It might have been if he was focused on only one child, but that didn't seem to be the case, he just had a favorite. Idk, maybe because I grew up being sometimes taken care of by non-relatives or distant relatives, including going on short vacations with them sometimes, clouds my judgement.
When I listened to this story I thought hmm this family (the Dunbars) seem pretty wealthy if they could afford to get their “son” a pony and a bicycle willy nilly. And the fact that they had a holiday home, the town raised such a large amount of money and threw a parade for his return makes me think that they were pretty well known/influential in the community which makes me think they could’ve influenced the way the press wrote the story. I’m thinking the mum was so beside herself and so desperate for it to be bobby that she just said it was and her family/friends will have understood and gone along with it for her sake. It’s still suspicious how bobby disappeared though.. I’d love to know what happened to him
With regard to Paul Mizzi staying for 3 days afterwards, I wonder if that could be comparable to the perpetrators of modern crimes who hang around the area to act as concerned interviewees and remove suspicion. Hypothetically speaking, if he were responsible for an accident or murder, maybe he was playing the part?
@Di Vepets As soon as he said it wrong it I knew ppl would come for him in the comments because he's kinda known for mispronunciation and grammatical errors. I just love seeing growth in a man 😭🤣🤣👌🏾
I think the water acts as a buffer from actually mutilating the corpse. Similar to blast fishing, where underwater dynamite stuns or kills via shockwave.
I think people underestimate how hard it is to keep track of children, especially if you're in the woods. It would be so easy for Paul to get caught up with the other kids, and not notice Bobby is missing for a few minutes. I don't suspect Paul at all.
I know I just think there reactions to the mysteries will be funny drunk especially when they do the part when they talk but it shows up on the screen in writing 😊
I think if they did do a drunk unsolved it might come off as offensive. They are talking about someone's family member's murder or disappearance and being drunk would make them seem like buttholes. They already tread on the line.
I hate seeing the time for the video and being excited for all the questions and the banter and then Ryan says “that’s it for the questions” and I’m so upset remembering about the hot doga. Not that the hot doga is bad, just want more questions.
4:20 I feel like if you're the type of mother who is so afraid of losing their child that you faint simply by being informed that they've been missing for about an hour, which eventually turns into eight months, it's not such a stretch to imagine being so hysterical and distraught that accepting any little boy who looks mostly like how you remember your child to be as your son.
Greetings, it is I, Bobby Dunbar (the real one). I am very old, and confined to a wheel chair. But anyway, as my father would say, “chime off bro”. P.S. sorry I was late on this video.
Parades are not a waste of time. Just imagine in December being with family and friends that you love snuggled up with a blanket drinking hot cocoa just watching amazing floats go by. I am in marching band and it is so fun to see people's faces with joy. Or in July watching a dope marching band go by playing some tunes for times we didn't live in. It truly feels amazing imagining being in that time period. You Ghoul Boys should enjoy a parade sometime.
reminds me of the walter collins case/wineville chicken coop murders. (also a movie with angelina jolie called changeling) Her son went missing and the LA police faced public pressure to solve the case. A boy claimed to be her son and though she knew right away it wasn’t the right boy the LA police encouraged her to take him home to “try him out.” She returned with dental records, evidence from teachers and doctors that it was not the same boy but LA police trying to cover up their negligence admitted her into a mental hospital. Eventually the boy admitted that he was NOT her son and that he lied to get to hollywood to meet his favorite actor. So it really wouldn’t come as a surprise if the same thing kind of happened here. If that boy was abused by the man who had him and even though he wasn’t really bobby dunbar a nice family who treats him well and showers him with gifts could be enough for him to not tell the truth. He may have even believed it over time himself or suppressed memories.
I love you guys...poor Bobby...I would hope if something happened to my son I would know him ...1 day 1 year 20 years or more later...keep up the amazing job guys.
Same but I don’t complete despise it quite yet I’m more like a mom who’s tired after coming home from work but still wants to be supportive of their child
Oh yeah, This American Life covered the story? That reminds me of something. I'm here after This American Life -> Live From Here -> Live From Home permanently ended because it couldn't keep afloat in the pandemic any longer. I only listened to it because my parents did, but I still think it's a really sad loss.

Thanks! I was hitting Reload with an increasing sense of annoyance (didn't think about checking twitter) so now I can stop doing that 😀
It better be a banger
Hoia Baciu and Skinwalker would be awesome onsites.
a moon oh dude Hoia Baciu would be LIT
Right?? I'm imagining the boys in their element -- Wandering through the forest Blair Witch style. Ryan wheezing into the camera, Shane telling ghosts to kiss his apple taters. It'd be great.
Parades *are* very boring. Thanks for someone finally saying that. 👏
They’re only boring if you don’t watch the marching bands lmao
I enjoyed it.
Only parade worth seeing is Pride tbh
*YOU TAKE THAT BACK NOW YOU SCOUNDREL!!!*
The black parade seems great, and the pride parade
ok whoever animated the space pope outdid themselves hat's off my dude
I am so sorry for your friend. I hope she found peace
Pam really is a complex villain... Shane, we need a more complex backstory!
Hey it's me Bobby, I'm good. Very old. Very alive. Chime off bro
bruh...did u really just create a fake bobby dunbar account
Wtf
@@whatabash8888 it says he joined last year
@@rinalexander2843 that's creepy as hell
Oooh that effort
14:52 "that actually hurt my heart"
- ryan @ *shane's creative genius*
Don't forget, when Bruce was taken and given to the Dunbars he went from being whipped to being showered with gifts. Not such a huge injustice
Yeah thats what I was thinking....
Usually children can't hide secrets
Around at what point in time people started knowing about pedophilia? Just really interesting how culture changes
It's 03:44 am on a school night, I've just finished watching To All The Boys I've Loved Before, and now I'm here

I’d love to know what happened to him
I’m a bit late but I have a theory that the guy who kidnaped “bobby” could have burned his foot in hopes of getting the reward money idk
I doubt it because there was a good chance of penalty of kidnapping being death
alright normally I’m here for the crime and ghouls but I must say... Shane and Ryan are looking extremely handsome in this video 👀🌹
Yes! They look particularly handsome here. I thought the same thing. Damn. 🔥🔥🔥
Ikr
ryans face while shane is reading the hot daga is so funny...he looks so done. #boogara
Ryan's arms🔥
Guys please come back. Lot's of love from India.
6:39 the way Ryan pronounced ‘Clarke’ stresses me out
With regard to Paul Mizzi staying for 3 days afterwards, I wonder if that could be comparable to the perpetrators of modern crimes who hang around the area to act as concerned interviewees and remove suspicion. Hypothetically speaking, if he were responsible for an accident or murder, maybe he was playing the part?
When Ryan said "stimulus" then corrected it to "stimuli" I was inexplicably turned on
I feel ya, girl. 😂
I don't know why but I also instantly developed a crush on 8:19
Yup not even going to argue that
@Di Vepets As soon as he said it wrong it I knew ppl would come for him in the comments because he's kinda known for mispronunciation and grammatical errors. I just love seeing growth in a man 😭🤣🤣👌🏾
What time did he say it lol I forgot
I think the water acts as a buffer from actually mutilating the corpse. Similar to blast fishing, where underwater dynamite stuns or kills via shockwave.
I think people underestimate how hard it is to keep track of children, especially if you're in the woods. It would be so easy for Paul to get caught up with the other kids, and not notice Bobby is missing for a few minutes. I don't suspect Paul at all.
I’ve been commenting about the people in France for weeks!😁Thank goodness they finally mentioned it again!🤗
Omg great idea drunk unsolved video you know one step closer to solving one shot that will be so funny 😂 I want to see Shane drunk
He's been drunk on his insta story before, or at least buzzed, and it's exactly how you'd imagine, lol
th-cam.com/video/ei5pHaPxG6w/w-d-xo.html He got drunk in an episode of the Test Friends! Ryan too. 😂
Emily Benoit what if they did that for a Supernatural episode
Can you please do an episode on the people who danced til they died? You keep mentioning it and I have no idea what the actual story is
camcam96 Google it yourself?
I think they don’t do it because it’s not considered “unsolved”
@@rozeqrtz3096 ooooorrrrrrrr, they were being mind controlled by aliens as an experiment to see how much stamina humans have.
I hate seeing the time for the video and being excited for all the questions and the banter and then Ryan says “that’s it for the questions” and I’m so upset remembering about the hot doga. Not that the hot doga is bad, just want more questions.
Same except the hot daga is bad
the bobby dunbar case honestly made the most interesting unsolved video in a while i liked it a lot
It’s almost 12:30 on a Saturday and I’m still up waiting for a Friday Unsolved episode
4:20 I feel like if you're the type of mother who is so afraid of losing their child that you faint simply by being informed that they've been missing for about an hour, which eventually turns into eight months, it's not such a stretch to imagine being so hysterical and distraught that accepting any little boy who looks mostly like how you remember your child to be as your son.
gothic lemons I felt the same
4:20 LMAOOOO
Shane, blink twice if you're being held hostage

Yes! The Villisca Ax Murder House. They can even stay there overnight!
You guys have referenced the French dancing fiasco so many times 😭 please do a video on it!
Rewatching all the series, and in retrospect, the Hotdaga was the only part of the Q&As that mattered.
Pouring one out for the original masterpiece.
The clicking noises are used in dog training too! It is very deeply satisfying to make a click and have this big hulking beast understand and comply.
I’m so excited for the next ep but I’m sad that the season is ending 😭
Have the bois..... never touched horses before tho?
Next episode they should go see horses
They live in LA lol
Hey, I live in LA and I've touched horses! We're not prisoners here haha
I swear this buzzfeed channel is the most underated channel EVER.
Shane at the beginning of the video "Oh hey, didn't see you there. Wait, where the hell am I?"
That episode of the Hotdaga, not only made my jaw LITERALLY drop, but it also had me SHOOK, DAYUM SHANE
Greetings, it is I, Bobby Dunbar (the real one). I am very old, and confined to a wheel chair. But anyway, as my father would say, “chime off bro”. P.S. sorry I was late on this video.
What happened to you though?!
I love you dude.
Nimisha Sharma 😂😂
@@nimishasharma6373 I would like to think that you are just joking....
@William Migliaccio r/woosh
Y'all should go to the woods where Bobby went missing for the supernatural part of unsolved and see if you can talk to him.
MAN! If like I wasn't already looking forward to Friday's episode... AND ESPECIALLY NOW AFTER WHAT THEY SAID ABOUT IT!!!
Wooo, nothing better than a Post-mortem after a loooooong shift
Amen
that's exactly what I'm doing rn
reminds me of the walter collins case/wineville chicken coop murders.
Madeline Harper right me too! i was like this is so familiar. i love that movie, soooo good!
I think I am in the minority which prefers True Crime over Supernatural

I love you guys...poor Bobby...I would hope if something happened to my son I would know him ...1 day 1 year 20 years or more later...keep up the amazing job guys.
I saw Ryan at the mall twice but I was too scared to say anything😢
You should've said something! At least just say hi and ask for a selfie.
I've truly grown to hate the Hotdoga, but I still watch just to watch Ryan silently fume about it. #boogara #downwiththehotdoga
Same but I don’t complete despise it quite yet I’m more like a mom who’s tired after coming home from work but still wants to be supportive of their child
Haha I think it should get it's own series on the channel
I've never watched it, but I also support it since it bugs Ryan so much lol
I think it's horrible and ruins the quality of their series but I do watch to share the feelings Ryan is having.
I got lost so now I have no idea what's going on, so I dislike it. It should end soon.
Shane's brilliant idea: hey, BRAND YOUR CHILDREN.
Oh yeah, This American Life covered the story? That reminds me of something.
I'm here after This American Life -> Live From Here -> Live From Home permanently ended because it couldn't keep afloat in the pandemic any longer. I only listened to it because my parents did, but I still think it's a really sad loss.
The hot daga has stepped its game up wow I am genuinely enjoying this thanks Shane ❤️
I love you guys, and would love to see you guys cover the Robison family muder and story of Richard Robison and Joseph Scolaro.
hahahahahahahaha you guys are awesome! Question: will you ever do the charles lindberg baby case or The dissaperance of roberto clemente? not many people have covered that case and I know his body was never found, but it would be cool to hear your thoughts on Clemente
If you ever cover another True Crime case I recommend Viola Hyatt or The Alabama Axe Murderess. She killed, dismembered and scattered the pieces of my paternal great uncles about 50 years ago. Super interesting case.
That’s horrific.
Where's the video that was supposed to be on Friday?
huh I’ve seen at least 12 different Bobby Dunbar’s in this comment section
