I have to be honest - this bowl is BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL. But I'm not crazy about the shiny varnish.

Nice work. Those were some big chips that were flying! Very cool. One tip or just really a preference, even when I spray or wipe on a satin finish on my carvings, I can still get some shiny spots. I got this tip from Lynn Doughty from Outwest Woodcarving, very lightly spray some Testors Dullcote after your finish. It takes away the shiny spots. Don't wipe it off or touch it after spraying. Just let it dry. You can get it from hobby stores. Unless you were going for glossy. If so, I will just moon walk back into my cave. lol
