We have a British musician of Sri Lankan Tamil ancestry singing quwwalis in perfect Urdu and Punjabi. And then, we have wars.
Yes indeed, how very sad is that. I wonder whatever happened to the beautiful words "live and love unconditionally". Aum Shanti
That is because these different things are done by people with different mindsets. Greed, power, supremacy are the motives of dividers, harmony, humanity and compassion etc are the motives of peace makers. They are different species of people. Identify the right ki d and align for the betterment of the species as the current weapons are lethal and kill humanity if allowed.
well said..
Wars are never started by musicians. Lets hope more politicians listen to good music like this.
This brought tears to my eyes :(
As much as Abi Sampa and team deserved that standing ovation at the end, that applause was also largely for Nusrats Immortal composition
And the Scottish National Orchestra xx
This song was a Tribute to Lal Shahbaz Qalander, A Muslim Sufi buried in Sindh Pakistan. The original song was first sung by Late Noor Jahan at his tomb in 60s or 70s. She was Pakistan Melody Queen most of her life. The tone of that song was just amazing. Nusrat redid it in his own ways of course. Glad so many enjoyed it.
❤❤❤
Runa Laila's rendition of this song was tremendous.
You have great knowledge
@@arazzaq569 --- Thanks Yes. We heard its replays so many times on Radio in Lahore
Amazing but just a little correction the song was not first sung in the 70s rather it was written in 13th century and is sung for nearly 600 years on lal qalanders tomb by sufis, fakirs and buzrigs usually in the sindhi language
my great grandmother was from Scotland. she married a man from Lucknow in the 1920s. they met while they were both studying at Cambridge. they fell in love and married in England, even though my great grandfather’s family did not quite approve of him marrying a Scottish woman at first. my great grandparents lived together in Mussoorie during the tail end of the British Raj. my great grandfather worked as a judge. he passed away tragically young and very suddenly. my great grandmother never remarried or returned to Scotland. her only daughter (my grandmother) moved from Mussoorie, India to Lahore and from there to Dera Ismail Khan, KPK, Pakistan with her husband during the partition while my great grandmother remained in India. she passed away in India a couple years after the 1947 partition. this qawwali, together with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, are both making me really emotional. I have tears in my eyes. I love this so much. what I wouldn’t give to have one conversation with my great grandparents. what I wouldn’t give to have known what their voices sounded like.
This is a very touching message. I never met my grand parents yet alone great grandparents. I would of loved to have heard their experiences. My mum told me her grandad was one of the people migrating during the tragic partition and he was a Sikh and a Muslim family protected them from all the violence going on for three days then they had to leave quickly as the mob were closing in.
A very emotional and touching message. It sounds like that it was a true and great love. May God Bless your great grand parents. It is nice to know that you cherish their memory. Petition was the most tragic event in the recent history of mankind. My mother was from Bangalore but due to partition had to move to Lahore. She couldn't full filled her dream of visiting her birth place before her death. She died in 2003 without ever going back to Bangalore. I am trying to go to Banaglore if I can get a visa.
Heartly regards to you all 🙏😊
I can feel you… its all feelings ❤

Imagine this orchestra with the voice of the great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
don't worry he is dead
That tabla solo was to die for
Indeed ..tabla part was the best of it..
Copied from abu Muhammad qawwal
Dear Abi and Rushil and everyone on stage: This is FANTASTIC! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for this gift to the rest of us.
From 10.03 onwards the Audience clapped, standing...

The look of happiness when the tabla solo was happening, truly brings joy to the heart 😊
Notice the conductor bounce, Abi and others smile, the closed eyes, the nods, the claps, everything...the visuals take this song to a different level.
An alchemy to mind, body and soul if soul exists?
Another beautiful song. I'm always entranced by Abi Sampa's voice along with the tabla. Magnificent ensemble
Hii Ana how are you
Lal Kalundur's tomb in Sindh is on my bucket list to see and kiss his feet, what a God's creation and the blessings.
This bought tears to my eyes, beautiful collaboration. I couldn’t help thinking how the western instruments made the sound calm, whereas I prefer my Qawali wild and raw, but great version nonetheless.
This is an excellent observation-I was wondering what was it and you pinpointed it.
I have watched this over and over again since yesterday.. It's simply breathtaking and yes i agree one of if not the best tribute to Ustad NFAK ever... Amazing..Hope to experience this live ...
From the time I have heard this I am shattered.
This is October 2024 & this version of DAM MAST QALANDAR by ABI SAMPA & RUSHIL RANJAN is absolutely amazing, awesome, appreciable, astounding and breathtaking. Solo tabla by Amrit Dhuffer is marvellously melodious, magnificently memorable, magically momentous and mesmerisingly masterpiece. Scottish Chamber Orchestra is spectacular, sparkling and superlative. The singing is singularly soulful, spellbinding, superb, sincere, sweet and simply superhit. The conductor Clark Rundell has done a truly great job. Felicitation to them all. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is one the greatest performances I have ever seen. Abhi Sampa's deep voice was truly magical. Her control is truly exceptional. The solo Tabla performance by Amrit Duffer was phenomenal. I have ever heard a Tabla solo which was truly in sync with the entire band. The Scottish orchestra were truly spectacular. The performance is a masterclass in itself.
@@sidartha96 Absolutely right. Exceedingly thankful for your great response. 😊😊🙏🙏
Further proof that Abi Sampa and her merry band are not human beings but are divine beings appearing in the form of musicians.
Well said. I could not agree more!
Abi's hand movements indicate there exists something beyond this superficial life.
I don’t have words to describe my feelings
I’ve watched this performance over and over again and still haven’t got enough of it
I feel the same way. I have just come across this master piece. Wish I could see them Live. Congratulations in capital letters from Spain!!! Mind blowing 🙏🏼🙏🏼💙💙❤️❤️❤️
@@renuahuja43 I am shattered
Celtic sounds (and places) have always felt like home, and I remember thinking when I was a young teenager how similar Celtic & South Asian sounds were. This collaboration is my dream. Serious goosebumps.
That is so cool! Can you provide a few Celtic songs you'd recommend to listen to?

Great tribute to Legendary Qawaali Singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He was out of this world.🙏🏻✨🍁❤️
But pitch wise it is no where near the great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan ji.
That tabla sequence.....
It was astounding!
Imagine if Dildar Hussain did it

Absolutely beautiful!! ❤!! Traditional Qawwali is mostly focused around “Qaul” which is utterance, words and poetry and here musical elaboration through orchestral arrangement further enhances the emotional and spiritual experience of Qawwali!! Great job!!
I am happy to say that I was at this show! It was...utterly astounding! If you get the chance, you must see them live...music for the heart and soul!
I like it

The stand out performance performance at this year's WOMAD (2023) Festival in the UK. One hour of pure joy. More please!
What amazes me is that Punjabi isn't the singer's native language, But the performance is just Immaculate.
What a musical treat😍😍
P.s - That Tabla Guy 🙌 🙌
As someone whos grown up with NFAK sahabs music engraved in my mind. This the best tribute to him so far. Its a labor of love and Dhuffer ji and his tabla is simply amazing

This song is a feeling I cannot express in words. I have listened to this Atleast a 1000 times and made everybody I know listen to it. It’s my trance
I know what you mean! I just had such a difficult, sometimes terrifying week - yet I found this track and I've listened over and over and it's taken me through.... Amazing...and I've been lifted by this community of feeling...
For me also is the only trance.
Solo violin intro was played by Ruth Crouch
