Actually Matt's the one that does that usually preaches the belief in no God and in reality not very good at his debates I've seen them very debatable
I was abused all through childhood starting at age 3. I turned to drugs and alcohol and men. I became so depressed and suicidal. I self mutilated. I would watch myself cut and not want to be doing it. I was out of control and demonized. I saw dark figures my whole life and was tormented by them. I prayed and believed in God and was still experiencing a dark world. I was on max doses of antidepressants and antipsychotics. Therapists told me they couldnt help me and gave up on me. One day i cried out to God "why arent you protecting me!?" And an image of Jesus came to my mind. I had previously preached He was just a "good man" but called myself a "Christian". I knew in that moment Jesus was who He said He was. I accepted Him and asked Him to come into my heart and forgive me for all my sins which weighed my heart down. And i felt all the darkness leave. It was tangible. I felt love and light for the first time in my life. Its like you don't realize how dirty you were until you get clean. I wasnt depressed anymore. I stopped medication cold turkey without side effects (NOT RECOMMENDING). But my depression was spiritual and demonic. Jesus set me free from all of it.
You cannot prove God and you cant disprove God. But you cant dismiss anyone's testimony or experiences. People need to experience the Living God and they have to want to. Its sad that people grow up in the church with religion and not relationship and it's not demonstrated to them. I hear God speak to my heart and in many other ways. But i had to learn how to recognize his voice. We need to teach others how to do it and demonstrate His power because He lives in us. I've experienced healing and deliverance and seen other experience it through prayers. I have a good marriage, 3 beautiful children, and I am well. Life is not easy by any means but I have The Comforter and His Word and it carries me through. And like a wall that needs maintenance, in continuously growing and getting healthy. Without Jesus, I was dying spiritually and physically. With Him, I am living, healing, and loving and experiencing love on deeper levels. There's nothing that can fulfill us like Him. You'll be lonely and empty even surrounded by people if youre without Him. We get to choose Him. If you find yourself angry with me and my testimony its because there are spirits in you that are being stirred up that are hostile to the Truth and it contradicts what you believe to be true and that's uncomfortable. You cant be too smart/intelligent to believe in God. That's a spirit of pride. Let eyes be opened here, ears be opened and hearts softened. Matt and Ray be blessed in name of Jesus.

My genetics professor once stated to our class of pre-med students "There is no such thing as PROOF in science." Having based my entire education on science, I was stunned by this statement.
He went on to explain. "Because there are an infinite number of facts relative to any situation, no matter how much information we have some of the facts will be missing. This means that the scientific method will produce erroneous results. Good and usable laws, but never complete proof."
After contemplating this statement, I realized that both science and Christian beliefs are based on FAITH.
Later, as I began to observe the ineffable level of complexity and organization of both the universe AND even the sub-atomic structure of physics (which BTW fully contradict the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics) ... I concluded that there must be an intelligent Creator Beyond Time & Space. It physiological to believe that sophisticated organization can come out of Chaos.
I admit, I can't PROVE God to you. But I'm confident you will concur that you can't DISPROVE God to me either.
PROOF is impossible with man. For we are not infinite, and cannot know all the facts.
Yet we can conceive of infinity, and perceive the impossibility of ORDER from CHAOS.
Choose wisely where to put your FAITH. I believe it DICTATES your eternity.
Trust in Jesus.

Dr. Chuck Missler is a genius, literally, and if anyone can provide you with an overwhelming willmeng abundance of scientific EVIDENCE that God exists, and that Jesus Christ is who the Bible says he is, it is him. I am confident that the scientific and logistical evidence he provides you will pierce, if not shatter your Atheism.

I always really liked when Ray spoke of intelligent design. Like how mankind can’t create a grain of sand yet it is also infinitely more complex than anything mankind has ever created, yet if we see what mankind has created we do not doubt that there was an intelligence behind the design. It had a creator.

That is why it is contingent upon each and every person to simply seek God for self. His promise is that as you seek him, you will find him. I have found this out for myself, he does reveal himself in a tangible way if you're just willing to turn away from sin, and receive him as Lord.

@@deemarie9945 Nah, Ray talks a lot about how no one can save themselves with their own goodness (aka "flapping your arms while falling from a plane"). It's literally what he says to every person he ever witnesses to: "Don't trust your own goodness, trust Jesus". He says that he himself is a wretched sinner in need of a Saviour, and that he does good in gratitude towards God for what God did for him, not what he did for God. I don't see how that is a work-based theology.

@@deemarie9945That just isn't right. Works do not save a person and Ray does not teach salvation by them. Only Jesus does that. Repentance is what Jesus taught and is not a work. It is not a good work to try and earn the salvation. We do good works because we are saved. Not to become saved. If we have not good works, we need to ask if we were really saved to start with. Repentance (changing mind to turn away from sin) is not a work anymore than believing is a work. Repentance is what allows a person to get close to the blood of Jesus because before, sin was pushing it away. Baptism is how we actually access that blood and through repentance, Jesus can blot out our sin because we are not constantly doing the devil's work, but his. Repentance is what allows us to stop the devil's deeds. Jesus said sinners are of their father, the devil. His offspring cannot go on sinning because they have God's seed.

It's important to us that he posted something where he didn't do so well. It's dishonest to pretend it always works out in dialogue. This is where it gets strange for believers. Are you sure it’s 100% because what can be claimed without evidence can be dismissed without evidence! Also It’s really not about winning as theists are genuinely concerned and worried about the attempt to ground morality/values in the materialistic paradigm. It just can’t be done and has the potential to do harm as it is a contradiction in terms. You can’t ground the qualitative subjective experience of reality such as morals and ethics in the quantitative language of science or to be more specific the materialistic paradigm it just becomes utilitarianism rebranded and we don’t want Peter Singer taking us down that road again. It would be without meaning and you would reach an absurdity like the logical positivists did when they attempted to refute metaphysical concepts as it ironically undermined important aspects of science itself. Religious rituals, customs and traditions can come across as strange and weird but the rituals and language are not that dissimilar to Buddhism in their mystical nature but Buddhism is considered quite fashionable and cool for the secular traveller. One hundred thousand Christians are still dying every year because of religious persecution due to hateful propaganda. You only have to look at all the atheist regimes such as the Congo for evidence. Equally, Literally tens of millions of lives were lost in places like Russia due to Stalin’s anti religious policies. The secular world seems to be completely oblivious.

Because there is no evidence for the Christian god outside biblical text, it is reasonable to conclude that the Christian god only exists as a concept in the Bible.

Jesus was responding to the scribes and Pharisees who asked him for a sign.
Abraham is a model of faith as he was counted righteous because of his faith and God's laws are written on his heart.

Mike, at first pass, your reasoning is true. However the Bible, as God’s word, has no higher authority to reference. So it had to reference itself.
Occasionally you run across similar things, “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal...”. ‘Self evident’ is circular reference.
The Bible was written over a 1500 year period by 30+ authors. Detail study (not Hollywood impressions, or knuckleheadpedia) reveals a consistency of message and logic and meshing unmatched in human works. A common error is reading from a human viewpoint, not God’s.

Ray. The next time someone uses a “convince me” argument use this rebuttal: ask if they know Hank Aaron or Babe Ruth. Most people have heard of them. Ask them if they know that they hit over 700 home runs. They will say that they know that they both hit over 700 home runs. Then ask them how they were convinced? They will probably reply that they read it in record books or some other publication. Than ask them if they actually saw with their own eyes all 700 plus home runs? No one alive today has seen in person all of their home runs actually in person They were convinced by someone writing down a statistic to prove that it happened. No one has seen with their own eyes every home rum by every player who ever lived. But we believe the stats because it is written in a paper or a book or elsewhere. The people who lived in biblical times who saw what Jesus did or said wrote down their experiences yet most will say “ I’m not convinced, I need to see it”. People will have faith in something some so menial yet when it comes to their life and salvation people need to “see it”.

Well when compared to other people in history, the evidence for Jesus Christ, his life, crucifixion and resurrection is unbelievable! It’s a historical jackpot how early everything’s been written on top of how much was written on top of non believers who also wrote about Jesus, on top of James and Paul who had no reason to start believing in Jesus without a resurrection! There is no way the bible isn’t true and all anyone has to do is take a little time and look at the evidence. How would Matt reconcile the fact that Isaiah was written some 500 BC and writes about a messiah born of a virgin and then it happens. Or King Cyrus! There are non biblical contemporaries who wrote about Jesus claiming to be the Son of God and being crucified for same as well as having followers who claimed he did miracles and that he rose again! Nevertheless, this was like water off a ducks back to Ray as he’s come across this kind of pretence, rhetoric and feigned compassion and empathy to score points before. Matts followers who are addicted to engaging in this kind of sophistry, arrogance and intellectual blood sports normally flood the comments section at this point with hateful comments and claims that Matt won. Even if Matt did win using cheap shots, sophistry and the tragic suffering and death of a child what exactly did he win. ?
What’s sad is that Matt is actually trying to undermine the only thing that helped Anne Frank cope with the evil Nazi death camps. In the case of the "rich young ruler," Jesus isn't saying that all everyone has to do is sell all their possessions to get into heaven, He's pointing out that we shouldn't let worldly things prevent us from following God, that we shouldn't put worldly things ahead of God. The other glaring flaw with using the bible as some kind of spiritual guide book that was inspired by a deity is, there is no information in that book that could have only come from a deity. I have been to several churches which include various denominations including Lutheran, Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Episcopalian, and non-denominational (those are merely churches that aren't part of a larger organization, like being an independent rather than a Democrat or Republican), and I've heard this particular passage in most of those as it's a popular one, and until now I hadn't heard it so misinterpreted. I can understand someone completely outside the Christian faith misinterpreting it, particularly if they are reading the King James version, given the general lack of critical thinking that people tend to demonstrate when reading anything these days, but both Ray and Matt should know this portion of scripture better. Ray because he is a Christian and supposedly studies scripture, and Matt because he was a former Christian who apparently had designs on becoming a pastor. And, like I said, this is a popular bit of scripture for pastors and priests to preach on, so I find it hard to believe neither of them have heard it explained as I explained it.

As I listened to Matt and Ray, we shouldn't, as Christians, just let Brother Ray to be alone on the front lines of this Spiritual battle. We should also do our part as well. According to the Scriptures that I have posted, we should pray fervently (which means having or displaying a passionate intensity), there are much that we can do. So we should keep in prayer for many things, such as:
1) Matt Dillahunty for the Lord to stir and convict his heart and that he responds to the Gospel and gets saved. He heard the Gospel, but he shrugged it off. But Isaiah 55:11a says "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void." Ray used the Scriptures, so it will not return void. Let's pray that the seed will grow in his heart and will produce fruit.
2) Matt Dillahunty's followers so that they hear the Gospel and will respond to it. As far as I could see, there are over 135,000 people that are subscribed to his channel. Can you imagine if they all got saved? Or even 10% of them at least? Let's pray honestly, diligently, and fervently for God to reach down to these people too.
3) Ray Comfort to not gets discouraged after this debate. A lot of it was hard to sit through and watch, because Matt made accusations upon accusations to Ray. It can be discouraging afterwards. I know I would be. But let's keep praying that Satan's work will not have any affect on Ray.
I am planning until the end of this month to spend a bit out of my day to pray for these things and more. But I must ask: Would any Christians want to take the challenge and do the same?

Porn addiction isn’t recognized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. It is debated upon as to whether or not it's an addiction in the medical world. However, in my unprofessional opinion, I think it counts as an addiction once it starts regularly interfering with your life and makes you nonfunctional in many aspects.

I would also add that while there is no specific diagnosis called "pornography addiction", there are compulsive sexual disorders where porn can and does play a huge role in making the problem worse. Excessive use of pornography (to a point where quality of life is diminished) can also play a big part in hypersexual disorder (or should it be "disorders"? not sure if it's plural).
What Matt should have said, if he wished to be accurate, is that there is no specific DIAGNOSIS for pornography addiction. Psychiatrists across the board recognize that there are people for whom excessive viewing of pornography can a problem.
I think we pretty much agree. Then there's my personal opinion, which is that porn can also be a distraction from dealing with problems, just like sleeping around, partying excessively, Netflix and watching random christian debates on youtube. Just a sidenote.

As an agnostic that hasn't counted out Christianity completely I feel that Ray Comfort is in general a relatively nice person. That being said I find it disgraceful the way he and so many other Christians edit their videos to make non-believers look bad. If you don't have honesty you have nothing. Guys like Ray are the reason young people are leaving the church. If Christians have to edit videos and disable comments they've already lost the battle. There's no logical reason why Ray Comfort can't leave the debate in its original format unless he is willingly trying to deceive people.

I think God is more in our heads than we realize. Sometimes I marvel at how God works certain things out within our personal life. Has a way of putting us in the middle of where we need to be at the right time, and it is our free will to react to where he puts us.
There are always two paths you can go down, and God knows our intentions like you wouldn't imagine.
If god omniscient, he knows who will take good and evil choices. There is no free will. Even if it isn't omniscient, nobody chooses the drives and experiences that lead to certain choice. Free will doesn't make sense.

I humbled myself and sought after God, maybe I found Him without knowing it in a spiritual way but definitely no observable way. If God wants to send me to hell for not guessing He lives then so be it. He's omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. Interesting thing is doctors learn how to perform surgeries and use medication. They don't learn how to keep the body healthy (maybe they do but they definitely fail at it).

In GOD’s defense- in the beginning GOD mad everything perfect- laughter, joy, happiness, peace, etc. that is how it was in the Garden of Eden. GOD, not wanting to control us like robots, gave us an option, essentially: “you can be around all the things I made-happiness, joy, peace, etc- or you can choose not to” thus the tree that WE CHOSE to eat from. He even warned us “you will surely die if u eat from it” and we live in a fallen creation becasue of it. Every bad thing in the world is becasue we choose to follow an evil devil and not a perfect GOD. So, however long u live, whether it be 70,60,20, etc, GOD has given u that long to turn from the evil and come to him. He even died for you so that way he would remain Just. He couldn’t just let a criminal off the hook when there was a fine to pay, HE PAID YOUR FINE. So, let’s recap- GOD used to walk with us, talk to us, be with us- we chose this. We chose to leave him, that is why we are living in this turmoil. To answer your question, yes, He requires faith. He requires faith in him, a belief he exists, and repentance. Without repentance there is no forgiveness of sins. The Bible says “he chose the foolish things to confound the wise.” In other words- remember Noah’s ark? Jonah and the wale? The parting of the sea by Moses? Sounds crazy right? But he chose them for those who aren’t humble and want to believe he is limited by any of this. Some people have observed GOD through observable ways. 500+ people seen Jesus after he risen. Another thing, would me and you- being logical people- die for something we knew was a lie? Well tons of Christians who observed Jesus’ miracles did according to the logic that Jesus never did miracles. Another thing, you know those people who control things at the top of our society? The politicians and what not? Yea, those people were in the Bible during Jesus’ time, they were called Pharisees and Scribes and they BADLY didn’t want his words to get out. They HATED him, they CRUCIFIED him. And the people who wrote the Bible, the ones who observed his miracles, they died to get his words out. Would me and you die for a lie? No. Also let me give u something else, there are over 10k manuscripts of the Bible that are written within 99.5% accuracy of one another. In other words- there is more evidence that Jesus existed than Socrates, Aristotle, and Plato combined. Than Alexander the Great, than Genghis Khan. This is a few of many things. This is why I am a Christian, everyone else can speak for themselves...it’s totally faith based for me, I totally believe the claims of Jesus: Jesus has his innocent blood splilled on the Cross, hitting the soil and dust, the same soil and dust God created us from. Jesus overcoming death yet giving us his blood into this fallen world is the ultimate miracle, whosoever believes in him will have eternal life is the miracle of miracles. There’s nothing scientific to prove this but I believe it.
This is the problem with Christians. Stop believing in worldviews without evidence. Why would you believe just because of your faith when you can believe because of evidence? Because your faith in it doesn't make Jesus real, or His ressurection real.

So basically, mankind was saved from eternal punishment, but mankind still couldn’t talk/relationship with God The Father because God The Father couldn’t commune with mankind because we have fallen. Also, God The Father could not commune with Jesus since he had died. This was without question the most terrifying 3 days ever in history. However, when Jesus conquered death on day 3, Jesus not only provided eternal covering for mankind’s sins through his innocent blood on the Cross, but now Jesus has given mankind a connection to God the Father through himself. JESUS CHRIST... HE IS ALIVE! All you must do is believe in him in this fallen world, and you will be saved hallelujah! Praise JESUS!!!

Jesus asked "why do you call me good?" In order to impress upon the questioner who he was calling him, which was God. Jesus never said "don't call me good", he also is called the *good Shepard* elsewhere in the Gospels. Furthermore, if we understand the fact that God IS the good, it is part of his nature, then the phrase "why do you ask me about that which is good?" turns out to be the exact same as "why do you call me good?" when he is referencing God himself.
As a Christian, I do believe that Matt was making good points and the video and the editing by Living Waters made me uncomfortable. Nevertheless, I still will be a Christian because as I was sitting alone in my car today, I asked myself if there was another good thing to live for. I tried to find pleasure in things, I tried to pursue something of value in this life. But I came to the conclusion that there is nothing of true value in this world that can satisfy like Jesus satisfies my soul. In the apostle Paul's letter to the church in Philippians he writes, "I press on to take hold of that which Christ Jesus took hold of me." Christ Jesus took hold of me. I don't know how any Atheist can find something of value in the world that has any lasting significance.
I agree as it made me uncomfortable as well. Why does Ray fail to give this man any props for having a different opinion especially when he was actually making sense. My faith is strong enough because of my relationship with Christ and the joy that it has brought me that I am okay if someone else says something that I cant answer. Although I don't agree with Mr. Dillahunty (Atheism) I recognize he made strong arguments and real questions. But what Ray maybe forgot to mention here was, there's another realm (the spiritual) that you can only access it thru believing (faith) in which it manifest in our world thru God or thru demonic forces.
The key here it's not proving God's existence or why we were given our nature, the more proof you provide the more questions will come up and the less someone is willing to believe or trust. The key thing here is FAITH which is impossible to please (receive grace) God if we don't have it.
I'm not dissing today's preachers in any way, they have a God given purpose, but what really stands out preachers from the old days compared to today's is that in the modern era they want to convince people with literature, studies, scientists, love, prosperity etc... Yet in the old days let's say Billy Graham as an example, they didn't try to convince people with facts, they preached the Gospel and let the Holy Spirit took care of convincing people.
So what I'm trying to say is, as much as we want to convince someone (an atheist) with facts, arguments, evidence or proof, they're deeply convinced and won't accept there's such a God, but by contrast when we let the Holy spirit speaks to anyone, He will enter his heart, move him in a special way and convince him of his existence.
Apostle Paul was convinced he was doing good, killing Christians but when Jesus struck him, he was enlightened by the Holy Spirit and start preaching what he used to kill Christians for, putting his life on the line for God.
A preacher once said: "The great thing about conscience is, even if you don't believe what I'm saying... you do believe what I'm saying..."

I just start telling people you'll find out what we were so adamantly warning you of when you die.. and many dont respond after that! What can they say? 1 Cor. 1:18 "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing..." Matt's point at the end is that he won the debate of the question "Does the gospel make sense". And I would agree with him based on this verse and the next. From a human perspective, using logic and reason, the gospel does not make sense. I'm so glad God's ways are higher than ours, and his thoughts are higher than ours, and he loved me enough to do something as non-sensical as die for people who hate and reject him. Great job Ray preaching the gospel in all circumstances to reach all people, even if it means "losing" a debate. :)
How do you know your god's thoughts? I'm also interested how you know he/she even thinks. Supposedly he/she knows everything and already knows the past, present and future, which eliminates any need for thought process. Also, how do you know a god exists and how do you know it's the god you want? In the Bible Jesus only "died" for about a day and a half as well. Hardly a sacrifice; just a real crappy start to the weekend. People have suffered much worse for no reason.

Dee Marie , I would argue that this is exactly what Ray teaches. He tells people that the only thing that can save them is faith. To trust in Jesus like you trust a parachute. And then he will finish with, it must be sincere. Sincerity of faith will be proven because you will be truly sorry and in your heart will not want to sin against God. This is what the Bible says too!!!
It says “do not be readers and not doers only fooling yourself”. He has never said that works save. In fact, ive heard him every time say “doing good will not save you. Don’t flap your own arms when you fall from a plane. Trust the parachute”. He also says but “trust in God and have true repentance” (that just means being truly sorry and not pretending to love God)
I have called myself a Christian in the past and I honestly was a living hypocrite, because I didn’t really have a heart change. I didn’t love the Lord enough to want to live for Him and obey him. I was living in such filth at the time. Since I realized what true repentance and true remorse for my sin is, I still slip up every day. But, the difference is I love Him so much that I want to make Him happy. (That is being truly repentant and not lying to yourself)
I was hoping that Ray would have siad God is LOVE, Jesus humanity was all about LOVE and I have found the more I love others and do my hardest not to look at others sin, I see more and more of love in people.

Matt Dillahunty has given me a lot to think about. I am kind of tired of trying to make the bible make sense. Ray comfort is a nice man but works really hard to make us believe the nonsense actually makes sense.

@@vincer7824 I am simply saying that if Ray, who knows and preaches that lieing is a sin against his god, but is still willing to do it, then it is reasonable to conclude that other religious leaders like jesuses deciples also may have misrepresented events in the bible. So it is a reasonable expectation that evidence be required to support the extraordinary claims made in the bible for them to even be considered accurate accounts.

I'm very surprised in him...he ought to know this....the only scenario in which real love is possible is one where people can choose between light and darkness. Between loving God, and hating/rejecting him. FREE WILL. able to make truth claims(saying there IS NO GOD) is in fact EVIDENCE OF FREE WILL... Creating celestial beings that never sin and always obey(against their will) does that sound like true love? Or we could all be condemned to hell equally, (with no choice involved) DEF NOT LOVE EITHER lol the only world where true love(a choice) is allowing free will(good and EVIL) to permeate the earth. I know; Matt was definitely wrong in saying porn isn't addictive, it most certainly is. But don't think by saying porn isn't addictive that somehow that makes his credibility or the ability to argue the topic on atheism any less viable. This by no means lessen or weaken his standing point on atheism just because he is wrong on one point. I'm not suggesting that people are making that point, but just saying people should avoid going down that track. For an Atheist, overall Matt spoke well and I say that as a Christian.
Matt needs evidence to substantiate that God truly does exist, irrefutable evidence that cannot be challenged or argued against. But God has made it very clear in his word that he (Matt nor anyone else) won't receive anymore evidence than creation, their own conscious as moral beings (the law written on their heart) and the Bible itself which is the very word of God.
If you can rationalize those three things without the existence of a God involved, then I don't see how you can ever find God of your own accord without some level of faith. It does take faith, but it's not blind faith. If you read and study the word of God and be open to God to reveal himself to you, you can see that there is no way that 40 authors over 1500 years can write a book showing us that in the Old Testament we are broken, damaged people, separated from God as a result of disobedience; and the New Testament that shows us what God is going to do about that problem to rectify it.
As long as Matt breaths, the offer God makes to him and all humanity stays on the table. But once you die, a person's fate is sealed for eternity. I was once like Matt, and as long as there is a beating heart, there is hope for people like Matt. (Luke 18:27) "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God". For God all things are possible. So who's to say Matt won't realize one day that God truly does exist! And I pray he does!

If there was a god wouldn’t he know how to convince Matt? He’s omnipotent hes today and tomorrow. You're missing the point. A soul is not won by winning a debate. Read the gospel again. Show me 1 passage of scripture where Jesus or the apostles converted a soul with a debate. The gospel is the power of GOD unto salvation. Preach the gospel and let GOD do the rest. Ravy Zacharias is a perfect example of this. Endless debating does nothing.

Matt should’ve asked you this way: “If you had to convince me that you had a relationship with your wife, or you had to convince me that you had a relationship with god, which would you pick?” The answer of course is your wife. It’s ok to be honest and say that you have a relationship with god but that you can’t convince others of that relationship. That’s honest.

Matt's objections are unfortunately born of a particular Christian heritage which is theologically rudimentary and simplistic. Essentially he's shooting down straw men without realising it. For example he has a problem with substitutionary atonement, and his objection is correct because substitutionary atonement is incorrect. However he hasn't heard the proper understanding of the atonement so he simply continues to shoot down the substitutionary version. The Lord bless you Matt. If you wish to enter into a discussion that is far deeper than that to which you've been exposed to, respond to this message and we can set up a place to discuss.
