I am in the mountains of Montana solo overnight camping off my motorcycle and the weather is cold, between -20 and -30 degrees. Me on Instagram @MattSpearss
Venture biker for several years. Been riding since I was 9. You make me feel like a wimp.. 😅. Good skill! Awesome channel, and glad to see it's growing. 👍
What do you mean shouldn't have ridden over the lake? That was one of the least dangerous things that you did. Not that I care if you do dangerous things. Going camping ill prepared was much more dangerous, building a fire next to the tent, walking/balancing on the log, 3 season tent, etc. Glad you are out there pushing the and your limits.
Maybe an odd take but I'd love to see a series of you fixing up the goldwing. Front end is all kinds of fucked up. Give it some love and turn it into a naked bike.
" I've NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE and I'M NOT AN EXPERT" is usually the start of a great story. Thanks for taking us on the adventure. Stay Safe. If you can't stay safe be dangerous.
Not for nothing Matt but please be safer when going alone. I really enjoy your videos and i don't want them to end because you're at the bottom of a lake lol. Probably best to have a side kick. Keep doing what you are doing, i can see you getting at least a million subscribers in less than 2 years.
I totally agree on the lake part...should have stuck to land. I ranted about it to the camera but decided to cut that part out of the video. Safety is a top priority, definitely not a safe move.
@@MattSpearswell you survived to share the adventure man, and got back safe, just about 😂😂it looked so so cold, feels cold here in the UK when it's minus 2 🥶🥶
Unless it was above freezening less than a week ago, I would not worry about the ice at these temperatures, unless I knew I were in a geothermal area, with hot springs etc.
I love your videos. They take me back 20 years, when i was at your age. Motocycles, camping, long hair and the wrong bikes at the wrong places. Greetings from Europe.
that 1st gen tundra is such a unit. i got a 2000 with a new frame thrown on it in 2020. best investment ive ever made. glad to see your tundra is holding in strong too!
Glad to catch ya so early Matt, as a Canadian, mad respect to you for campin' out there. Especially on a motorcycle. It's been -40 up here and it's tough.
Wow what an experience, thanks for taking us along, it was a relief to see you in a running Pearl! The snow-bike kit and bags are top-notch. I hope you upgrade your tent and continue hedge your bet and stay safe.
This is exactly the kind of adventure I like to see. Not all easy, nature and the elements will throw unexpected curveballs at you and you dealt with them well.I love seeing how you set up camp, some bushcraft techniques, and would love to see your cold weather gear if you do a video on that. Like base, mid layer, and shell plus some good gear you've tested. Lastly I have the fire cubes in my basement and suspect they would work best if you kept a lighter on it for a while. Great to know they don't ignite with a spark!
Ooof, that made me cold just watching you. Great video. I would love to watch a video of the track install, or any other videos of your prep. They (to me) are as fun as the actual ride videos. Thanks and keep it up.
Great video Matt. That brings back some winter camping up Trapper Peak memories. Got down to -30 here in Anaconda during our cold snap. I'll have to pickup some of those body warmers the next time I'm in Butte. I just studded up the 450 Sherco, I'm thinking a little camping trip up by Discovery may be in order. Ride, ski and camp. Cheers.
That was a sketchy adventure for sure Matt. I was genuinely worried about you a couple of times. That being said... loved seeing the Montana Sushi (the Busa) ripping around the mountains with a snowbike setup! Very cool buddy! Be safe brother.
This last summer I was camping in MN and it was 86°F at night and very humid. I tried telling myself and my camping partner that it was actually -40 outside and we were actually cozy. Didn't really work. Shout out to Red Lodge and the Beartooth mountains!
@MattSpears those were my sled tracks on the lake, I was there on Thursday and almost put my sled under water 😅! Also I got the same KTM tool kit it’s all you need!
This guy is living the life! Mad respect. Last time in Norway during the summer I was camping and it was close to 0 celcius in the night. And I thought that was bad 😂dude this is next level cold. Wouldn't dare doing this solo. Btw love what you're doing with the busa, it's like a transformer. No matter the terrain you'll build it into anything that can attack it
In the current world of craziness, you are a fortunate man to do what you love in the most beautiful backcountry in the greatest country in the world 🇺🇸
hell yeah a Hayabusa with battle scars looks 9000 times better than a clean one. I'm so happy to see that machine getting used hard. I can't wait to watch you ride it on the Moon and Mars
Greetings from NZ, Matt. Excellent mission mate. Those fairings glue really well with Construction Adhesive/ Polymer glue (Gorilla Grip in NZ) and a old cotton shirt (Polymer glue works best with natural fiber) as backing is what I use on ABS plastics. Have fun.
A tip for the next time you lay a heavy bike down, stand like you were, but turn away from the bike, get your feet as close to the seat as possible and stand up, (sort of like a different style of squat when at the gym.), and walk it back as you lift. You will be able to lean into the bike once it gets past your butt and it will make it much easier. Still not easy, but much easier. Great video! Its awesome seeing other people out and learning and experimenting with new situations! Keep it up!
What an awesome video keep it up! friendly tip for picking up heavy bikes, try lifting the bike with your butt against the side of the seat while grabbing the same side of the handle bar with one hand and the other hand holding the rear of the bike. Pushing the bike upright, kinda like your squatting. It saves a lot sweat and back pain
That was great" I never knew you could convert to snow bike, but I do know Chinese plastic fairing kits are super brital at the best of times, I was panicking myself wishing the truck to start, sounded like last chance, great content throughout 😅
You are a crazy man. What an experience though. Hit -54F in Chester, near me. My weather station quit at -37. Had to heat my propane tank to keep my furnace running. These temps are dangerous.
I am very jealous, I live in Sunshine coast, Queensland Australia and today was a bad day with 36c and 92% humidity which is about 95f... so sticky and hot... I have never been in snow or super cold places like you just rough camped... I think I have a new goal in life
Bravo! Keep going, Matt. This was an insane video, you're getting it... epic video. Also, you're insane for doing this solo. I'd totally do the same thing though. You're going to go far! I'm getting a blown disc replaced soon, would love to do a collab with you in the future. This is my personal account, I've got a smaller channel, and we're growing, all while I need back surgery this whole time. Don't let anything stop you from chasing this dream. I've had rides where I cannot feel my legs from pinched nerves, in a solid 8 on the pain scale, one wrong move is a 10, and I still send it as hard as I can. Keep going!!! You're younger than me, and doing way cooler stuff! Let's go!!!!!
I should not have ridden over the lake. Hope you guys enjoy the vid!! What do you want to see next?
Hayabusa Quadbike?
Take the Busa to some snowmobile drags and do some drag racing with it.
Venture biker for several years. Been riding since I was 9. You make me feel like a wimp.. 😅.

That ice had to be thick and solid at those temperatures. Could probably drive a tank across it.
Unless it was above freezening less than a week ago, I would not worry about the ice at these temperatures, unless I knew I were in a geothermal area, with hot springs etc.
It's a heck of a testament to that jump-pack :)

You stay warm friend, I hear it plans to warm up later this month @@MattSpears
This guy risking his life out there for this video. Hes out there by himself
no no no, not trying to risk my life for these videos. Riding Piggy is way more risky than this.
Good shit dude. I’m glad you invested in better cameras they’re seriously paying off. Also expanding the type of content you do.
Greets from SEAsia
Thanks man! Really trying hard on the camera side. Glad you guys are noticing :)
This is awesome.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride, Matt.
I really admire your work!!
Thank you for sharing your story !!
Thanks for making great content. I really enjoy following you Matt. Keep up the good work, stay safe buddy
I appreciate that!
Wire in a headlight disconnect switch on the Busa. Save some juice during those hard cold starts.
Nice build on the snowbike kit.
Through all the mini struggles, you keep a great attitude which is admirable!

Holy shit you live in a beautiful place. Americans are truly blessed with your public lands.
Rapidly becoming my favorite YT channel. You rock, man!
Lots of fun, really great idea. Thanks for including a jumper system for the battery that is an important fact.

Love the vid. I put the small HotHands warmers in my glove liners. It's not hot in that kind of weather, but it keeps your fingers mobile.

Dude you’re a wild man for camping in those conditions! 😂
✌️awesome
I rode to work this morning in minus 6 degrees c and felt like a badass...I am suitably humbled
Nothing like a 3 season tent in the middle of winter
The bussy can take much abuse, glad you didn't freeze man. Im addicted to the bussy!
You are crazy bro, it's getting down to single digits here in NC and I ain't even getting out of the house let alone riding and camping
Having fun, toys, money, and making money putting it on youtube. This is a great time to be alive.
