Lol I feel bad that I had to look it up. I've never used either since I didn't know enough about it (and didn't need to). But I figured I should probably know at least a little about it, just in case. Don't wanna make a future blunder or miss out on potentially useful features. I recently started trying to fill in any knowledge gaps on things that I've been using forever. To avoid instances of, "How don't you know ______? You use [program/site] like every day.] So far, I've probably improved my overall efficiency by at least 10%.
how do you get a job that revolves around emails and not know how to CC someone... charisma must be 10/10 to talk your way into that.. be like a roofer looking up a video on how to stand up a ladder
This is perfect. Well explained and alot of people need to watch this if you are dealing with people's data under GDPR. Thank you for the quick tips ans straight to the answer.
That made me feel old. I remember doing carbon copies. Cc is for those you are including and its not confidential while Bcc is confidential to all other receivers of the email> Only the sender has the master list of recipients.
Can the CC recipient be able to see the BCC? only the Sender can see the BCC right? cos i'm confused with my current coworker, wanting me to email the BCCs.
No. It's a not fruitful. It's fruitful. No 'a'. And in this case you would better say: "It benefits all." Or, "It is beneficial to all who view it." That be 800 PHP please. Send it in the mail please.
so if i send an email to person A and CC person B when person A replies to me will person B also get the reply? from my experience itll create an email thread almost like a text conversation but im never the one sending the initial email just responding to it did emails always work like this or is it a more modern feature and every email used to be its own entity not creating threads
Exactly Roxanne! With anyone you put in the main To: bar, it means you are writing to them directly, so any calls for action you include etc. are directed at both of them.
Hi @cosiek14, question! The main difference is in what you expect them to do in response. If you put them both in the To: field, then you are writing to them both directly, so you would expect them both to take any actions you mention in the email, or to reply to you about it. When you put one person in To: and the other in Cc: it means that you are keeping the person in Cc: informed and 'in the loop' about whatever information is in the email, but you don't necessarily expect them to do anything or reply to you. That's why you have the option to 'Reply' or 'Reply all' too. If you just reply, then it only goes to the sender. If you choose 'Reply all', it goes to the sender and everyone they Cced. Neil
if you put multiple people in the To, they will all be able to see who else you sent the email to. On the other hand if you put one person in To and all the others in BCC, none of them will be able to see who you sent it to but they will all see the same message.
As Blue Lantern explained, it is not the same thing thing Boekie. Firstly, everyone in To: can see everyone else, whereas no-one can see the address in BCc except for the person it is sent to. Secondly, the etiquette is, if you include people in To: then it means you are writing directly to and including all of them, and all of them are expected to react/reply/take action as appropriate. If you Cc: someone it means you have included them for information purposes but they are not necessarily expected to reply. If you BCc: them then only they know that they have been included - it's a secret, so they would not reply to other people in the email, but they might reply to you privately.
Hi Milton, yes you can say both of those. The actual spelling is not completely fixed yet, with some people writing 'cced' as you have, and others write cc'd, as we have in this video. Oxford Dictionary favour the cc'd version. en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/cc If you prefer, you can use a phrasal verb instead, 'copy in' - 'I've copied you in', 'please copy me in', but really 'cc' is probably more common these days.
Thank you for this CLEAR AND CONCISE, STRAIGHT TO THE POINT, Lesson that allows me to fully understand what for and why all of the extra boxes are used.
Hi Kyzer, if you put someone's address in the BCc field, it means that they can also see the email, but none of the other people you have sent it to (the people in To: or Cc:) know that they can see it. Their name is not visible. So you can use it if you want to secretly share the conversation with someone, or as Rosa mentions, if you are writing to a big long list of people, but you don't want to share all their addresses with everyone else.
when my teacher attempted to teach this in school, I didn't understand what she was trying to say. But I got it now. Good job British Council.

Hi @AndrewBrowner, no they won't unless you select 'Reply all'. If you just click Reply then it will only go to the person or people in the To: field.

What if you want to send an identical copy to more than one person and want them both to respond? Both go in the 1st address bar?
Exactly Roxanne! With anyone you put in the main To: bar, it means you are writing to them directly, so any calls for action you include etc. are directed at both of them.
whats the difference between typing two persons to TO and two persons to CC? They both can see each others in both cases.
Hi @cosiek14, question! The main difference is in what you expect them to do in response. But To: also works as BCC, right? Because I can usually put multiple people in To:
thats actually a good question. will the recipients of your email be able to see each other or not?
if you put multiple people in the To, they will all be able to see who else you sent the email to. On the other hand if you put one person in To and all the others in BCC, none of them will be able to see who you sent it to but they will all see the same message.

I would love that
i just sent my CV to a list of companies using CC field , now it's confirmed that i made a mistake, i should have used BCC .
Sorry to hear that Mohammed, but I'm glad this video has been useful for you for the future. Good luck with your job search!

Finally!! Thanks
I was wondering what bcc could mean in email communication, and how is it different with cc.
Thank you for this lesson. It was helpful to me.
Glad it was helpful!
Good explanation. But the doubt is: if one uses bcc, will it be necessary to use the "To" space or just leave it blank?
It's possible to send Bcc: without anything in the To: field Carlos (I just tested in in Outlook). So it's up to you I guess.
One of the recipient's ir even your own email
Yes. So the sender can show who the email is sent to and because can confirm it without letting the person in the to and cc section know
VERY GOOD THANKYOU🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much.
Can I also not type on the Cc??
Of course Aliza! You only use it if you need it.
very good explanatio👍👍👍

Why would someone want to send a bcc working with the team?
