    G'day,
    Love your clips. Really appreciate your (team) effort, quality of info, focus on specifics and enjoyable easy-watching template.
    Biggest frustration with TH-cam, is that most info clips just waste time superfluous fluff.
    Your (both CJ and Mandy) clips are always on point, and I hope others watch and learn from you (as a team). More important, hope you make enough money to continue this channel. Am based in Australia, so unfortunately amazon makes shipping ridiculously expensive - which means I am unable to support you via your store. I'll work towards donations though.
    Great job with your channel. Thanks again

      That makes us so happy to hear, we felt the same way with TH-cam. That's one of the reasons why we do our videos the way we do hahaha. So yay! we really appreciate your kind feedback.

    Thank you for the valuable information. I am from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦...How often do you spray water every day? How many times did you use Ocean water solution before harvest?

    • @OnTheGrow
      @OnTheGrow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much for the support! When it comes to spraying them with water, we only do that during the germination phase. We like to spray ours twice a day, but you can do once a day if you give it a heavier spray. As for Ocean Solution, we give it to our crops once they go into the light. It is mixed into our water source at 0.5oz per gallon and we use that water mix to water the crops twice daily. Hope that helps!

    Great video. Are there other seed mixes you would recommend?

    • @OnTheGrow
      @OnTheGrow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually most Brassica seeds work really well together, though Red Acre Cabbage is a slower grower...so it really just depends on what you like. I think adding a mustard to give this mix a spice to is would be great. Then also if you grew a tray of Swiss Chard on its own then added it to the mix after harvesting, I feel like that would be good tasting to. But I wouldn't suggest growing Swiss on the same tray as the others haha.

      We still need to make one!! But we have a PayPal Donation link in the description of this video.
      Most microgreens in the Brassica family with do great when mixed together, aside from Red Acre cabbage which grows rather slow compared to the others.
      If you want to spice up this mix, you can also add a mustard or even purple kohlrabi would be great! 😄

    Just wonder what is your control environment such as temp and humidity when growing microgreens? Thank you.

    • @OnTheGrow
      @OnTheGrow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Our space stays between 75-80F degrees in the Summer (Best Germination Temps) and between 67-73F in Winter and our humidity around 50% or under. We also have one large fan that circulates the majority of the air and small computer fans on each shelf of each rack. All fans are running for 24 hours of the day.

    Awesome video as usual! I've had success with similar green mixes from Trueleaf, but my last tray was plagued with mold by around day 2 (blackout stacked with weight). The only difference was I put this tray on a heat mat set to around 75 degrees - I thought this would be helpful as my house is around 60-65 during the day. Do you think this was my mistake? Thanks again for all the content!

    Your coir mix looks fully dry when you put it in the tray before seeding? Do you do this on purpose? Have you ever considered pre hydrating the coir and then checking for field capacity by squeezing it and noticing how much water comes out?

    • @OnTheGrow
      @OnTheGrow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      🙂 Coco Coir is sooo cool...we keep some ready in a storage bin always! When time to get into a tray, we just scoop up our measure and level , add seeds and then we water the seeds and the coir just enough...proven practice round these parts!!

    How does temp affect growth. Our grow space is about 65 in the winter here in Michigan without supplemental heat.

    • @OnTheGrow
      @OnTheGrow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cooler air does tend to slow things down! Hello Branden Visser ! We do not pump carbon-dioxide in the space and the space only exchanges air when we open the door a few times throughout the day.😊 Best of luck to you! Keep Be-Leafing!

    On day 3 my broccoli is still just tiny little roots(about 95% germination at least) and this is my 2nd tray. My first tray has done well also and I'm about to harvest on day 10 but I might wait until tomorrow. They did not get as big as yours and I'm wondering if I should leave them in blackout an extra day or something because when you took the weight off of your tray on day 3 they had already shot up a little bit and I'm wondering if that's what I'm missing, I'm also growing on jute mats so that might be the reason they haven't shot up yet. They are doing really good but I feel like I might be missing something, I started Kale at the same time as this 2nd tray of broccoli and it isn't doing good at all probably only about 5% germination so far so I'm still a noob lol

    • @OnTheGrow
      @OnTheGrow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes it does take an extra ay of blackout to get the stems a little bit longer...could be related to something as little as the temperature in the growspace! Do you recommend sanitizing each tray after every use or can it go multiple times with just a simple rinse?

    • @OnTheGrow
      @OnTheGrow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      A simple rinse generally works, also leaving them out in the sun to dry. You will UV sanitize them that way and it’s probably the easier way to sanitize. We used to bleach sanitize but it’s a lot more work and we didn’t notice it performing any better than sun sanitizing. There are some growers who will use them a few times in a row without sanitizing... hope that helps! 🤗🌱🌱

    So when I bottom water my trays all of the water gets soaked up through the coir and the roots sticking out dry up. Is this normal or should I be watering more to maintain moisture in my bottom tray?

    • @OnTheGrow
      @OnTheGrow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for tyhe Question Julian Keller 🥳 We really appreciate your support!!
      🙂Sounds like the action taking place is actually going well...the roots will make contact with the water and you should soon see the Coco Coir begin to darken from the replenished water source...bottom watering is also designed to keep the roots moist and healthy so simply monitor water you add...some adjustments may be required but in small additional increments !

      @@OnTheGrow thank you for the reply.... I'm finding myself adding about 2 cups or per watering for my salad mix which I notice still manages to become fully dry by the next watering cycle. It feels like that is quite a bit compared to what you guys give it yet it still doesnt seem enough. Two and a half to three cups by the end is about what mine are requiring, even in shallow trays with coir

    What are the ways people eat these? I might have to do half trays because I can't fathom eating that much before it goes bad. Tell me I'm wrong. 😂

    Madam, what you are doing is very cool. Can you provide me with a feasibility study for a 12 * 3 meter microgen culture room

    Is your trailer in the beginning of the video where you do all the growing? Is it climate controlled.

    Newbie here who definitely loves watching you guys' videos! I know there was another video you guys did on using around the house items to grow micro greens, but do you know if aluminum pans are ok? Also, just to confirm, you guys start bottom watering and adding nutrients when it is first exposed to light? Thanks! New Subbie!
