Accusump solves the oil issue. Otherwise it's really just a matter of having enough fuel to keep the fuel pump submerged. Fuel injection is sealed and pressurized from the pump right into the cylinder, or the intake ports if port injection. Either way the orientation isn't going to be of any consequence. Had that been a carburated rig, it may have caused a problem, but maybe not. As long as the jet sprayed fuel, it would start. You would almost certainly get fuel spilling out of the bowl all over the engine bay, and that would be the only hindrance to firing that thing up. You would not want to run it long, as the oiling would be uneven, would run away from the high side of the valve train rather quickly, but other than those few little things, an engine isn't reliant on the orientation. What's way more impressive, to me anyway, is a NASCAR engine running at 8500 rpm for hours nonstop while all the fluids are forced to the opposite side of the vehicle from the left turn. So basically, that would be like starting that stuck rig, planting the throttle firmly on the floor, and leaving it there screaming for two hours before you started and for the duration of the recovery, and it being just fine. 🤯
I'm pretty sure it's why he kept asking Cody (the cameraman) who is way more use to the wrecker, if every thing looked ok from he's point of view. Impressive team work!

While most recovery experts would consider something like this “near to, if not impossible” Matt seems, at least in my opinion to look at it as a fun little puzzle that he’s sure he’ll figure out lol! I know from experience having worked for a long time in this field that most of my bosses would have way over done it. I’m sure he wouldn’t agree with this but the man has genius level ability. He figures out how to get the job done with the tools at hand. My hats off to Matt and his crew.
That was well executed! Only thing i would change is the rigging on the donut and run the line from the ORW in the outside groove. That way you're in compressing the donut rather than tension pulling the donut apart. You also get more surface area for the moving line reducing stress and better heat dissipation.

Cool stuff, you guys are good at what you do. If you ever find yourself in New Zealand it'd be a blast to take you Jet boating in one of our wild rivers, something foreign to you in Utah I'm sure. Motorsport of a different kind. Have learned a lot watching this channel over the past couple of years. God bless
The kiwi jet boat scene is wild. My mate has a 2 rotor that revs to 10k in his jetboat and it sounds amazing on the water
They can travel a few hours north to Idaho for some crazy Jet Boating, but New Zealand does sound great for that and hunting and outdoor beauty!
@@gruanger Fair play, I happen to be a commercial hunter by trade so yep i very much agree with what you mention there. What i have learned here on this channel has come in handy for the offroading I do, its not on the same degree as this by any stretch but still technical
Or marlin fishing, or bush bashing in a lifted 80 series :-)
Where in NZ?? Town??
Never sellout Matt! Your channel and family is GOLD
The "MORRtivator" was Back in full swing on this one. It tool brains and brawn to 'get this 1 out'. All that time working and not 1 said, 'Sir, you can't park there, especially like that'.? Missed opportunity for sure. Great work MORR team ! A cooling dip after 100f and hot rocks underfoot was what's needed...on the way to buy shakes.
Matt has lost weight over the last couple years! Well done Matt! (PS: I found the weight you lost)
Maybe an air bladder would help in a situation like that.
Hey, you can't park that there!
I just wanted to say the crawler being recovered was pretty sweet too, probably hard to get stuck to start with lol. Good content.
When the World's Largest Off Road Wrecker is struggling, you know that's some serious terrain. Great job MORR team!
Owner seriously said “ I should be able to drive out of this”
f he had a big airbag he probably could have too!
The buggy is designed for that. he could have if the right wheel was not wedged
Yeah he should have been able to drive out of that. Just got it more wedged than he realized.
HOLY SH!T and WOW was about all I could say.... what an incredible job!!!! Very nicely done!!! And the owner... getting in there and driving his rig out while it's hanging off a hundred feet of rope is just... WOW!!!!
Keep up with the good work matt an team love watching you on TH-cam God bless
Matt and the whole team are so great to watch and I learn new stuff all the time. Even the guys who got wedged were no joke, real off-road guys. Can you believe that thing started right up after being totally sideways all that time? Top notch skills and no need to drop 500 F-Bombs every clip. Nice
Very entertaining! One of the "cons" of building very capable recovery vehicles are we dont see you guys struggle with recoveries that often. This was enjoyable to watch!
Awesome watching the whole convoy rolling out!
And they used all three vehicles, plus a friend of the client's buggy. That's pretty stuck all right.
Riveting, Siskel and Ebert two thumbs up
Watching yall during the hurricane, from St Pete Florida
AMAZING teamwork by all.! Matt, you're definitely one of, if not THE G.O.A.T. Great job, Matt's Offroad recovery. That tow truck boggles the mind in its capability !!!
Great recovery!
Always like when Peanut gets some screen time.
My mother had a BC too; but Kathy would not go in swimming...she stayed in the house with a/c.
WOW!
No other words can express my thoughts! I mean I was literally on the edge of my chair with my butthole puckering! You guys are absolutely amazing! And the wrecker is nothing short of a Monster!
25:31 Matt should buy that radio system. Better than having to handhold a radio
One hand for radio, one hand for GoPro, one hand for steering wheel, one hand for shifter/rear steer.
can we say big pucker factor!!!
This was an awesome rescue from start to finish. The MORR crew absolutely rocks.
Sketchy wrecker games for sure! What a show! And please more combo vids with Rory and his crew!
How much would this recovery cost?
Don’t get me wrong. It’s worth whatever it cost, but I’m extremely curious 🧐?
Who knows, but obviously tens of thousands of dollars
@@Snarf_Le_WombatI don't know about 10's but maybe a couple. Considering it's also for content, their charges might not be on the same scale as other non-YT recovery companies but I'm just guessing.
several hundred bucks per hour , I remember trail mater was 100-200 so a bit more than that
@@onepunch7632 any kind of tow is hundreds, and this company can charge whatever they want, leverage the cost of the vehicle, cost of abandoment etc...of course it's tens of thousands of dollars when the vehicle is 100,000k
@@onepunch7632 you think it's a couple gs for three custom tow trucks and a video?
Well done! That's was alot of fun!
Peanut is the goodest dog
That probably was the most technical Sand Hollow recovery I have seen. Good job!
That was possibly your best recovery to watch so far. That wrecker is awesome, we have nothing like that in Australia! 👍
When the title said sky crane I thought Heavy D was bringing the choppa. Lol
While most recovery experts would consider something like this “near to, if not impossible” Matt seems, at least in my opinion to look at it as a fun little puzzle that he’s sure he’ll figure out lol! I know from experience having worked for a long time in this field that most of my bosses would have way over done it. Probably tried to bring in excavators or some other type of heavy equipment, and then charged enough to practically retire off the job. Matt’s built different. I’m sure he wouldn’t agree with this but the man has genius level ability. He figures out how to get the job done with the tools at hand. My hats off to Matt and his crew.
Let's be honest here. Those two buggy's are FIERCE I said it.
That was well executed! Only thing i would change is the rigging on the donut and run the line from the ORW in the outside groove. That way you're in compressing the donut rather than tension pulling the donut apart. You also get more surface area for the moving line reducing stress and better heat dissipation.
I have watched a number of your recoveries by far this was the most impressive one to date. Everyone maintains their cool under pressure.
