    Beautiful and rugged land there Simon. It is a very different kind of beauty. Any time you travel in places like that, you go prepared. Especially with food and drink 👌

    Those type of unpaved roads are non existent here in the Netherlands. We do have some unpaved paths but those are only a couple of hundred yards long at the maximum. It is not a road that connects places. And just for comparison, if there were no traffic jams you could easily cross the Netherlands 4 times in 13 hours. The maximum length from the Netherlands is 186 miles and the maximum width is 173 miles. And the total surface area from the entire country is only around 17.000 square miles. And 18% of that is water. Exactly the opposite topography from the Chihuahuan desert. I am always amazed by the size of America and other countries. It is not that I am unaware, it is just that you do not think about it every day until you here somebody say that he has to travel for 13 hours, and that not even a state border has been crossed. Thanks for sharing 👍

      Texas is a big state for sure. It's also interesting to see the environment change from desert to subtropical along the way. I also travel through 4 grow zones to get back to the Gulf Coast by Houston. Thanks for following along as always.

    Amazing what you are doing and have done so far in the 'boondocks' of West Texas!!!

      All it takes is a whole bunch of persistence and effort. I'll keep doing what I do. Thanks for following along as always.

      I'm looking forward to the day I can work and live at the ranch full-time. For now, I'll just keep doing what I can. It is nice to get away from all the craziness. Thanks for following along as always.

    Yeah I know what those roads are like, 30 miles worth. Thats a new front end rebuild every five years. lol

    • @TimelineRanch
      @TimelineRanch  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Lol, yeah, or a new truck, that's what I do. There will be more worn-out than just the front end by the time i'm done using a truck for five years. Thanks for watching as always.

    That's a long haul just on the dirt let alone the pavement back home.
    I'm interested in how you found your land if you'd like to share? Have a good weekend 🤝🏻

      The first 40 acers I found in a newspaper ad back in the mid-90s. The ad just said West Texas ranch land for sale. I bought it sight unseen and got lucky. Thanks for watching as always.

    30 miles! Man youre back a ways. Does that type road get you back to Sierra Blanca?

    • @TimelineRanch
      @TimelineRanch  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It is gravel road all the way back to I-10. Sierra Blanca is a little ways down the road from where I get back to I-10. Thanks for following along as always.

    What are you doing for water? Well, cistern, water catchment systems? It is a 27 hour drive each way for me so I have not been out yet.

      I have been hauling water for ten years from South Houston. I made a well from stone at the ranch that gets its water from the pond. The water tested out pretty good, so the next trip out, I plan on using it for showering and dishes.

    Do you have any idea how many rain did fall this season on the farm and also how many inches so far?

    • @TimelineRanch
      @TimelineRanch  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good questions, and thanks for following along as always. The only way I have so far of knowing is by my game cameras. That just tells me the pond level, and it looked like three big rain events that filled the pond all the way to the top from what I can tell anyway. I wouldn't have a clue how much rainfall, though.

    how close is your nearest neighbor

      @TimelineRanch  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There's a guy that lives about six miles from the ranch, but I have not met him yet. You have to be careful out there. Some people shoot and then ask questions. Thanks for watching as always.

    I'd want a small gas or electric bike as a backup.

      It's probably not a bad idea. I could walk to town if I had to, but so far, it has not been an issue. Thanks for following along as always.

      I have not had any problems lately. The border is pretty easy to cross now. Before, I had some people coming through and filling their water bottles up in the pond. Now you can just walk down the sidewalk and get a credit card handed to you when entering the USA so there is no reason to come through my property anymore.
