They thought about turning him into a woman like one year before the show was shut down, because it was living a huge crisis of audience due to poor writing. Now the same thing happened, and plus... I've seen enough of her, important scenes from the show even though I haven't seen the whole episodes, to say that she doesn't have the right carisma. I don't want tired male characters to become women, like it happened in Doctor Who or Ghostbusters, or in Elementary in Watson's case. It really annoys me. As an easy explanation as to why I disappeared I can tell you that I got into university and am currently studying astrophysics. It's really hard and doesn't leave much space for other things! Maybe, if it ever happens that I get more than five days of rest after or in-between exams, I may be able to do more (and I would love it so much, I have a couple of ideas that have been sitting in my mind for sooooo long), but until then it's gonna be hard. Basically everyone had hated him, because the writing was really bad, and the ratings were really low. So Sydney Newman, the ideator of the show, proposed a female Doctor. This was one or two years before 1989, and that is when the show was shut down. It happened again, the exact same thing: the ratings were already very below average, and I'm gonna say it: Steven Moffat doesn't know how to write stories, cause he complicates them and then never explains, he never solves them, which is very different from leaving an open ending. Season nine and eight stood just because Peter Capaldi is an outstanding actor and he put so much love into his character. Season ten rocked in, but then it just faded into nothing, though Bill was the first and only female character Moffat ever wrote without stereotipying it. You know, River Song was the super woman who could do everything and anything, could keep men at a bay, could shoot behind her back, and all of that on high heels. Like really? I know a lot of women and a lot of them are very strong, but they could never do what River does, because, she's unrealistic. Same thing for Amy, who is basically an escort at first, then travels with the Doctor full-time, and then magically becomes a journalist. And she always know what to do, which buttons to press on spaceships(!!!) she's never seen before. Is that realistic? Oh, she's also portrayed as an angel who sleeps with full make-up on and perfect hair. Clara? She's a know-it-all that can do everything even better than Amy. Super witty, can carry weapons as they were nothing. She's so tiny, but she can lift a motorbike like the one we see in 'The day of the Doctor'. That's not a motorbike for a girl of her dimensions. It's waaaaay too heavy. So yeah, Bill's the only female character that makes sense on a human level. But anyway. So the old fans are literally running away. They needed something to renew a character that had already given everything (given the bad writing mentioned before). So what do they do? They turn him into a woman! And they call it progress and feminism. Which is not. It's mere marketing, because even those who had never seen Doctor Who, think they must have a say in this context, so it's basically bringing the fans who agree, those who disagree, and those taking it on a personal level because of "feminism". That is what makes me angrier. Because feminism, right now, doesn't need to be treated like that, it's already ridiculous on its own. What makes me really angry is that they make a marketing move and call it feminist. It's not. If anything, that is exact opposit of feminism. They take a tired character and give them to women. No! If you say you want to give me a female lead, then give me a strong, new one! Create it for me, as a woman, and possibly written by a woman. Because that's another point: everyone talks about the female face, but no one ever mentions a female writer, or composer. Do I really have to think that there's not a single valid woman in that industry? Nah. That is how maschilism works. And they make people think it's feminist! Plus, you know what I think is not feminist at all? Thinking that we can't feel represented by a man. If men and women were equal, there wouldn't be such an issue. The Doctor is a male character, but he can represent all humanity because of his values. As a woman, but more specifically as a human being, I feel perfectly represented by a male character. I just don't want to wear men's dismissed clothes. If they want to give me a female leader, they need to give me a true female character. More, they need to place more women behind the music, behind the writing. A female composer or showrunner. That would be feminist. Aaaaaand, I've seen Jodie elsewhere, as an actress (you knowasin Broaschurch but also as Antigone, with Christopher Ecclestone), and I don't like her. I don't even like how Chris Chibnall managed season 2 and 3 of Broadchurch so... That's it. Please, just know that I'm not angry with you, I'm just passionate about feminism and this whole situation really makes me furious. Thank you for your compliments again!

It's mere marketing, because even those who had never seen Doctor Who, think they must have a say in this context, so it's basically bringing the fans who agree, those who disagree, and those taking it on a personal level because of "feminism". That is what makes me angrier. Because feminism, right now, doesn't need to be treated like that, it's already ridiculous on its own. What makes me really angry is that they make a marketing move and call it feminist. It's not. If anything, that is exact opposit of feminism. They take a tired character and give them to women. No! If you say you want to give me a female lead, then give me a strong, new one! Create it for me, as a woman, and possibly written by a woman. Because that's another point: everyone talks about the female face, but no one ever mentions a female writer, or composer. Do I really have to think that there's not a single valid woman in that industry? Nah. That is how maschilism works. And they make people think it's feminist!
Plus, you know what I think is not feminist at all? Thinking that we can't feel represented by a man. If men and women were equal, there wouldn't be such an issue. The Doctor is a male character, but he can represent all humanity because of his values. As a woman, but more specifically as a human being, I feel perfectly represented by a male character. I just don't want to wear men's dismissed clothes. If they want to give me a female leader, they need to give me a true female character. More, they need to place more women behind the music, behind the writing. A female composer or showrunner. That would be feminist.
Aaaaaand, I've seen Jodie elsewhere, as an actress (you knowasin Broaschurch but also as Antigone, with Christopher Ecclestone), and I don't like her.
I don't even like how Chris Chibnall managed season 2 and 3 of Broadchurch so... That's it.
Please, just know that I'm not angry with you, I'm just passionate about feminism and this whole situation really makes me furious.
