“Saturating” the wood chew is a great idea. You suggested peanut butter. There is a peanut allergy in our home; therefore, we do not even keep it stocked in our house.
What i use as an alternative is smearing banana or soaking it in raspberry, blueberry or strawberry. Find what fruit your hamster ❤️ best…and use that!

Some of my hamsters over the years loved to devour toilet paper tubes 😂 My current ones are eh. Also, tiny dog biscuits (try finding ones w more whole ingredients) are great for gnawing.

I was gonna add toilet paper tubes but forgot to, plus didn’t want to add to many ones that don’t necessarily “help” their teeth

whimzees are great chews , my hamsters love dried hard dandelion roots as well .pets at home [ uk ] sell apple sticks with a coating of seeds to encourage the hamster to chew on them .

Another good chew is Walnuts with the shell. Just poke a hole in the bottom of the shell and the hamster would smell it and chew on it to get to the walnut inside.

Great to have this kind of trouble shooting video and comments! I am very new to hamster ownership, it's only been a week now, and I adopted a female Syrian hamster that was considered special needs and had been returned a few times by different families. She's very sweet but kind of defies a lot of the things people have been telling me to provide for her. And yes, she's not chewing on much even though I've given her many different chew options of varying materials. One thing she does like to know on is the edible Timothy Hay log hide I got her. I will try the other ideas! The problem I immediately saw with my hamster and Willow balls or anything that has an opportunity for her to get her legs or paws stuck, she will. She's very clumsy and I almost wonder if she can see at all. With the willow balls, she would try to climb on them and get her little leg stuck. I had to get her a different hamster wheel, too, one without any ventilation holes because she was trying to climb those tiny holes and then hurting her paw that way.
