I use Camtasia intermittently and was so confused why my screen recording had four tracks (screen, camera, mic and system audio) plus effects. Thankfully turning off Rev is just one click...

Thanks for this Rob, I have seen some good options for screen recording that are Mac only. This seems to give Camtasia a quick and easy way to generate that same style. Appreciate the demo

Based on user feedback (such as this video), 2023.4.2 includes two relevant improvements:
- Ripple Deletes no longer cause Dynamic Backgrounds to "skip" so you can delete them alongside your other streams and they will look ok
- There is now a Rev Layout that mimics the standard pre-Rev layout so that if you forget to untoggle Rev before recording, you can just pick that layout and it will look like it did without Rev being used in the first place

I have Camtasia already. I am after the backgrounds and audios to use in my videos. Must I create a screencast to have access to the animated backgrounds and included music? Not sure what to buy to get this *backgrounds and music)...or is REV just part of an upgrade?

Rev by itself doesn't include backgrounds and music... it's a design element that was added to the latest version of Camtasia in October 2023. If you have Camtasia 2023 then just simply upgrade to the latest version to get it. To get additional backgrounds and music, use the Camtasia Library and Assets tabs (within the Media tab)... there are several free there... and you can also subscribe to Techsmith's "Assets for Camtasia". Additionally, you may want to check out MotionArray (see link in my description) as they have a ton of backgrounds, music and other assets you can use. Hope that helps :)

I was with Storyblocks as well until about a year ago... when I switched to MotionArray ;) There's definitely a lot to take in with all this stuff... best of luck with it!

Beware I used my trusty old logitech webcam but revdidnt like it and masdde a botched insert not circular Techsmith resposne was upgrade the driver if possible. BTW there was not aproblem with the Snagit insert circular webcam only in Rev. Changed to my newer camera and it was ok

Rev does not make cuts... it's an easy way to add quick formatting :)

If that's not what you're looking for, I do know Techsmith is very open to receiving feature requests from people. If there's something you'd like to be able to do with Camtasia, you can submit a feature request to them and if enough people request the same they'll likely implement it :-)

Almost everything you're talking about in this video are not EDITS. Editing is what you do when you cut out parts of the clips.

The sort of distinction you're trying to make (without even giving what you feel the 'proper terminology' for what Rev is doing) does nothing for the entry level video editors who this update was aimed at. This is a review of a AI feature that TechSmith has put out, using terminology TechSmith is using.
What was he supposed to call what Rev does? Enhancements? Automatic visual effects? They're edits. If my boss tells me to make a font color change, that's an edit weather I manually do it or it was done via a TechSmith AI bot feature.

I agree... there are many different types of video edits... some far more complicated than others :)
