    In this episode I give a quick overview of the General MMD4E Moisture Meter. It is a great tool to have when buying fresh cut lumber or making your own. It is easy to use and reasonably priced - a definite recommendation from us. The moisture meter was purchased off amazon. Affiliate link listed below to buy now if interested.

    how do you use this for hardwood floors if you have to puncture? The pin less readers aren't very accurate.

    If possible cut the lumber in half then place the pins diagonally across the lumber. When I pick out deck lumber I grab 3-4 pieces throughout the stack I'm buying from to get a better more accurate EMC avg. 12% is ideal. Pressure treated KDAT-kiln max 19% EMC or I won't buy it. Just trying to help out with what I've learned.

    You didn't mention the calibration cap. It had a board in it and place for the probes.

      Yea. Thank you for bringing that up. We mentioned it in previous comments a while back. Great call out. Thanks again.

    What does the hold button do?

      It will hold the temperature after removing it from the wood or brother building material.

    You don’t ever test the end-grain, and also go diagonally to ensure you get more than one vein.

    How can I calibrate with out the cap?

    • @3112DesignCo
      @3112DesignCo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +clark garrison Hey there, to my knowledge there is not a way to calibrate this device. The cap is just a “protective cover”. A good trick is to use known dry material to reference against - as the goal is to know when it’s dry more than a specific percentage. Thanks!

      Look in the cap. There's a circuit board to calibrate.
